My suggestion today is the Berlin S bahn, specifically the entirety of the S9, with the S3, 5 and 7 being playable on the section between Westkreuz and Warschauer Straße. The line runs from underneath Brandenburg Airport, through the centre of Berlin along the stadtbahn, out west to the olympiastadion and then continuing along to Spandau. The route would combine a city outskirts scene with the very densely populated Berlin city centre, passing through stations like Ostbahnhof, Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstraße, Hauptbaunhof, and Olympiastadion. Along the Stadtbahn, services would run at intervals of roughly 2-3 minutes, a frequency that would make good use of the new features such as random events. This section would also allow for the use of more regional traffic, such as ICE and RE services. However, bringing focus back to the S9, it is comprised of 28 stations: Flughafen BER (Berlin Brandenburg Airport) Waßmannsdorf Flughafen BER – Terminal 5 (Schönefeld) (currently not in operation) Grünbergallee Altglienicke Adlershof Schöneweide Baumschulenweg Plänterwald Treptower Park Warschauer Straße Ostbahnhof (Berlin East Station) Jannowitzbrücke Alexanderplatz Hackescher Markt Friedrichstraße Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) Bellevue Tiergarten Zoologischer Garten Savignyplatz Charlottenburg Westkreuz Messe Süd Heerstraße Olympiastadion Pichelsberg Stresow Spandau The motive power for the S9, as well as the S3, 5, and 7 in the core of the route would be the DBAG 481 EMU. A map of the S9: Overall, I would like this route in tsw because it allows players to experience a variety of scenery and operations in one service, and brings Berlin to tsw for the first time.
Berlin is my favourite German city, been there more than anywhere else in Germany and I'd love to see a route set around it.
I returned from Berlin on Friday, I had a brilliant time. The people are lovely, the city is so cool and there are just so many great places to visit. My first visit in 2012 was for all the usual tourist spots. Last week my wife and I concentrated on visiting quirky and interesting bars, restaurants and clubs in the areas surrounding the centre of the city. "Misfits" in the South East might just be my favourite bar in the world. It has a wonderful sign inside "No Wifi. Speak to people, pretend it's 1995". Anyway, a big yes for the S9. I got it from the airport and it's not only an interesting route but it's fantastic for sightseeing. Unfortunately the service was only running as far as Ostbahnof. I'm not sure if that's a regular off-peak thing or if there are engineering works that was causing the shorter service last week.
Berlin network might be too much for TSW because of the rendering. The stations are close and the inner city of Berlin is really dense.
