I've tried three times downloading vol 1 but it says that the archive is corrupt. Not sure if it is an problem on my end or not. Anyone else had this problem? Tried different browsers and a download manager.
I had the same issue, I used 7 zip and that extracted it fine. Seems to be an issue with the PDF file as windows wouldn't extract it at all and 7 Zip extracted it with a warning that there was extra data.
Looks like I managed to fix it by installing PeaZip and converting it into a tar file, then extracting it.
The actual exe files are not corrupted and install just fine for me. As Tigert1966 says there is extra data beyond the payload. I never use the manual in the pack download but grab the one from the AP site, as it has the full title for what it is for.
The installer didn't do anything after selecting install folder after unpacking it with WinRar (with repair option) Also got some errors with installer by just unpacking it with WinRar. Haven't had these issues before with files from AP. I'll try 7zip next time.
I just recently updated some of my packs with AP and had the same issue with multiple packs, seems to be the manuals causing the issues with unpacking.
There's considerably more to the packs than just three scenarios. They are a full upgrade of the previous enhancement pack
I just wondered how you guys are finding FPS with this new enhancement pack. For myself, I am observing quite a lowering of fps with the new pack compared to the old one.
I checked this with Richard of AP and he confirmed to just ignore the extra data message when unpacking with 7Zip, the installer runs fine and the manual is available to view
Me too. I'm losing about 4 fps compared to the old pack. I also had the corrupt message when unpacking the installer.
According to AP's change log there's been a recent update to correct for the pack not installing/working correctly if you don't have the previous EP installed!
Has anyone had any issues with Evening Star in particular? The pack works fine for me, but trying to place Evening Star creates the kaleidoscope effect that happens when something is corrupt. I'm reinstalling the volume 2 pack now to see if it makes a difference. The pack is good, but the lack of manual GSMR and NRN control like on the Class 92 is pretty poor. And it's annoying that there are still missing variants that can't be easily added in by modders.
There was already a lot of Class 66s in various liveries that worked perfectly And a lot of reskins for the different locos For some reason AP decided to upgrade it and now we are in two groups Those with the new pack are bust switch out the scenarios they have uploaded to ATS and other places And those people who are still on the fence on buying the new pack - but there is LocoSwap.
I´m also on the fence about this one. We already have countless different 66 packs with loads of repaints, nameplates etc I would have loved to have a seen a German version of the Class 66. Could have brought all the German players on board to buy this pack, but I guess that´s out of AP´s field of expertise. The BR 266 from Steam is not very good and could really do with a replacement.
The old 66 pack was a good pack. I really enjoy driving freight scenarios and bought the new pack. It really improves the experience. I really like that the pack comes with the sounds for both the original and newer 66. There is quite a big difference in how they sound.
I have noticed the people on the German Forums don't take much interest in the UK rails. No repaints for the BR 266 since 2020 - I was hoping for the Freightliner version I saw at Hamburg https://peter749.piwigo.com/picture?/35409/category/592-open_access_passenger_and_freight
The German community is slowly dying to be honest. Since TSG and many players moved to TSW, it´s been downhill.
I don't have much experience with Class 66 irl but I find the enhancement pack very quiet/low volume. Maybe a AP thing. I also wish there was more running/bogie sounds and brake sounds. It also feels a bit too strong when applying throttle from a stand still.
I have found this to be a repeated problem with some of AP's packs. The sounds often seem too quiet and are quieter than the embedded promotional YouTube clips suggest on their product pages. Thanks for the warning. This will make me cautious about buying this pack.
"I don't have much experience with Class 66" I think this is the key part. All of the volumes sound right to me in relation to the other sounds in the sim. 66s really don't have loud run sounds and the only proper loud brake sound is the loco brake release which I see AP have represented. This might sound flippant but if you find the volume too low, can you not just turn your speakers up?
But what about in relation to your experience in the cab of a Class 66? In relation ot other sounds in TS doesn't say much.
I wanted to point this out too, that the sound in TS is quieter than the YouTube video. Might be that Richard/AP has a better sound card than my built-in Realtek chip.
