    Hello,
DTG Alex DTG Matt DTG JD DTG Jamie

Recently, Xbox & ASUS has announced they are producing the ROG Xbox Ally (Pictured below) and I was just wondering if TSW6 (and subsequent TSW Games) will be avaliable to play on this hand-held*. I don't game enough nor do I travel enough to benefit getting one (even though they are priced between $700 (£518 / €597) & $1000 (£740 / €853)) but I thought I'd ask just in case I ever decided to wave goodbye on a month's wage on a hand-held device*.

    Thanks

*This handheld is more of a handheld gaming computer rather then a handheld console like the Nintendo Switch

It’s just a PC with XBox branding and a version of windows 11 that supposedly has all the bloat ware cut out. It will default to the XBox store, which sells TSW but there is nothing to stop you installing Steam.

TSW will run on it in the same way that it runs on the current Ally or Steamdeck. It won’t be brilliant but it’ll work. I set my current Ally X to medium and 900p it’s playable, but not the best experience. Routes like Frankfurt Fulda have big frame rate drops in some areas and you only get 30-40fps to start with. The XBox Ally X is only slightly more powerful than the current Ally X. The Standard Xbox Ally is slightly less so expect similar performance.

Basically it’s an expensive way to play TSW and not the best experience, but it’ll work.

I don’t own a steam deck, but if I was in your position I’d save a few quid and just buy a steam deck.

Echo this, the Steam Deck is out now, a LOT cheaper and plays TSW just fine (mostly).

Steam Deck and other mobile PCs are not officially supported, but Train Sim World 5 runs well with the right settings and TSW 6 is expected to do the same.

For the best experience, we've added recommended settings to the TSW 6 FAQ.
    Screen Menu
    • Resolution - 1280x800
    • Graphical Preset - Medium
    Advanced Settings
    • Max FPS - 30 FPS
    • Screen Percentage - 100%
    Steam Deck Performance Menu
    • Frame Limit 30FPS/60hz
    (Optional)
    • Lossless Scaling - x2 Multiplier
    • Steam Deck Performance Menu
      • Refresh Rate 60hz
      • Disable Frame Limit - On

At the moment, I don't plan on getting the Xbox Ally.. far too much money for what it basically is
