I cannot say anything about the 112/114 because i dont know much about them regarding the detailed funtions.
For the 112 they will likely add a new version once they need to upgrade it to Tod4 and the old Tod3 one will be left as it is for the HBK route.
For the 187 its just sad that Skyhook does not care at all. Hopefully we will get a 147 or a 187 expert at some point.

Yes, but I think there’s a setting to default them back to all on, also apparently it will remember which layers are selected, so you won’t need to select them every time.

I’m not sure its really fair to say SHG don’t care, for me its clearly evidenced that Adam and the team really do care about the quality of their products, given the improvements they made to MML and the standard of recent cargo line releases. Remember that they inherited the issues it was released with from the previous team.
The 187 is definitely in need of a major rework, but whether thats the best use for the team to spend their time is another question

So, before the upcoming preview next week, what are everybody's thoughts so far on the additional layers listed in the FAQ? Do you think there's anything obvious that's missing and needs including?

    These are:
    • BR 1442 Talent 2: Playable and AI
    • BR 642: Playable and AI
    • BR 218 and n-Wagen: Playable and AI
    • ICE 1: AI
    • Original BR 101: Playable
    • Railpool BR 193 Vectron: Playable
    • BR 612: AI
    • BR 103: Playable
    • DB BR 294: Playable
For me, I'd like to see the BR 182 (DB and MRCE variants) as well as the OBB 1116 included. Also, due to the era the route is in, I assume it's just a bit too early for FlixTrain which started Dresden services in 2022, correct? The other thing listed is no ICE 3 but, as mentioned earlier in the thread, the FAQ shows the ICE 1 listed twice, so a mistake? One final thing, I'd also like to see the E94 have an option as a rail-tour to complement the 103.

And for context, the core stock to be included too:
    • ICE-T
    • BR 442 Talent 2
    • BR 146.2
    • BR 143
    • Dostos
    • MRCE 185.2
    • BR 363 in DBB Blue livery

Well it seems they do not. My focus is on german content and the 187 is the only dlc from Skyhook for germany so i will base my opinion on this one. The 187 was never a "good" loco dlc but the major dissapointment starts at the update they pushed out for the 187 during Tsw 3 lifecycle. They somehow managed to get rid of all in cab animations and sounds. All we got to this day are some statements that they are working on something with the last one only saying they are looking at options. I do believe Skyhook will make a german cargo line at some point and if these are well made then i will change my opinion on them, but until then i wont.

FWIW, since 2016 the 182 has been the principal loco on the Dresden S-Bahn, along with the dwindling number of 143s (replacing 146.0s; the 146.2 never actually ran there)

Yes, so you need to buy a new route and keep that installed just to get a functional version of a locomotive that is already in the game. It can't get more nonsensical than that.

Given the lack of layering of the Flix DLC so far I’d absolutely excuse the slightly out of era layer if it was included tbh

The reason DTG have not done this the same way as SEHS, where the new route replaced the old, is because if they had done that then all players who own the original could engineer it that they get the extended version completely free. The extended SEHS was given away for free to anyone who had the original (as DTG don’t take content away from players) but they had to buy a game bundle of some kind to get it. It actually ended up with some players paying for it and some getting it for free depending on what bundle they bought but the new TSW game had to be bought in any case. Now that there is a free starter pack option, if the new route replaced the old one in the same way as with SEHS, DTG would have to give everyone the new version (so players don’t lose any content) and everyone could get the new extended route without buying anything at all. They could then buy whatever other content they want instead of a bundle. A free extension.

This way, everybody who wants the extended route has to buy it, either individually as a DLC or as part of a core bundle, with only the old version getting bundled in for free for those who don’t have it already (for the trains). That ensures DTG get paid for extending the route. It’s pretty simple.

Of course, in reality, for those who want everything in the Standard or Deluxe Edition, it still would have worked out less expensive to buy the bundle but for those who only want the German route, lots of German players for instance, they would not have needed to buy anything, other than the loco DLC if they wanted it. DTG would have lost out big style.

So we are left with having to have both installed because DTG also can’t migrate the dependencies to the new version (so we could safely uninstall the old version without losing layers anywhere) as anyone who only has the original would lose those layers on many routes, as those routes can only get the dependencies for layers from one source, not a choice of two or more sources.

That is not true (at least, not anymore?) - the Dresden S-Bahn currently uses classes 143, 146.0 and 146.2. There used to be 182s, yes, but they haven't run here in years. I believe they're on regional services in Berlin and Brandenburg these days.

The list is just layers, ie what content unlocks new services. It doesn't mean that other trains such as the 187, 182 & 1116 won't then be able to substitute into these services.

ICE3s don't run at Leipzig or Dresden, so there shouldn't be any.

Flixtrain runs from Dresden to Berlin, and from other places to Leipzig, but not between Dresden and Leipzig. It would be just AI and shunting at Leipzig Hbf.

Well yes, that was my point.
Of course, each loco will only have a few scenarios where it's playable...

Depends. If there are multiple copies of a vehicle in the game, then there will also be more scenarios.

There certainly aren't "only a few" scenarios that have a 766 series Dosto Cab Car on a playable service for example...

razmatus#2517, What do you mean by your question?
Do you want to know where the layer selection is in TSW, or am I misunderstanding?

yeah, thats the first part of the question... second is if it will be moved to a different part of options menu in TSW6 :)

I dont tinker with it in TSW5, so I dont know... since you and others have said it will turn some layers off by default in TSW6, I want to know where I can find it, so I can turn the layers back on and watch my computer burn :D

In TSW, go to Your Trains and then to Your Routes.
There, select the route you want and then go to Timetable.

Then you will see all the trains displayed in the timetable below.
And at the top right, you will see Levels and Filters.

Click on Levels, and there you can tick or untick the different layers that you want to display.

These days it’s mostly 146.0s and as you said a small number of 143s, haven’t seen a 182 in years

I can confirm that BR 182 have not been used in Dresden for ages and even on the S2 you can find BR146 nowadays

I hope skyhook never touches anything german again. They should do uk content thats fine.
The Br 187 is not forgivable. And there is TSG which is in my opinion on a way higher standard than SHG.

Really strange to hear so much passenger chatter in the stream in the BR 411, when the first section right behind the driver cab is the quiet zone. It does kill off the immersion.

What's everybody's thoughts regarding the preview? Would you say Leipzig-Dresden looks to be a significant improvement compared with the original Dresden-Riesa or...?

    - For the German announcements, I actually genuinely liked the sound of them (I thought perhaps they'd of sounded more robotic) but much improvement is needed as well as inclusion of end of service announcements etc.
    - Glad to see the much-needed EC services finally included compared with the original route; hoping the Vectron and 182/ES 64 will sub with the 101 though for more variety.
    - I wish in the preview they'd of given more time to show the number and variety of services for differing locos in the timetable menu, especially for the 218, 642 and 193 etc...

well, Dresden-Riesa has pretty much 0 changes, guard rails are still facing the wrong way, etc. So no fixes at all there
only "new" thing for rolling stock is a partly green stripe on the ICE.
Announcements on the Talent2 and in the station imho not bad. But there should not be a welcome announcement on RB in each station. But there were issues with the wrong exit side being announced, but that is just as wrong as irl with DB. Some pronunciations need to be fixed ( like IEEE CEEEE EEEEE).
But I was not expecting much of this stream, but still less than I expected.
Lots of questions about rolling stock etc were simply ignored.
