I turn that always directly off.... I do not like the music in games. Its a game not a music platform. No offense to people they love it
I don’t mind the music & the person making it is quite talented, but yeah it’s way too dramatic for a train simulator. On another note, don’t suppose anyone found the less excitable part of TSW 6’s music to be quite inspired by HBO’s Chernobyl?
I love the music! It's brilliant! Music is what got me into F1, and it's what got me into Formula e. It's a small way of bringing just a couple more newcomers.
I've mentioned this in another thread but for me, the TSW3 music is way better than the others. In my opinion the others are way too intense, which isn't what you want for a video game menu music. It should be something calm and ambient, and not something makes you find yourself trudging to the settings menu to turn it off.
TSW 4 was when I started turning the music off. The previous games weren’t that bad but TSW4 it started becoming more dramatic sounding with the whole orchestra thing going on. I dunno just started getting annoying listening to it lol. I actually feel bad for saying that….
Music has no place in a train simulator so I turn it off completely. Plus I'm not impressed with any of it anyway from a musical standpoint.
honestly, I think the TSW3 theme was the most calming and nice to listen to, however people have different preferences. I think DTG should add customisable TSW menu themes, with options from every iteration of TSW, all the way from 2017 to 2025, I’ll talk more in detail about that in my “More Menu Customisation” Suggestion coming soon.
In another thread it was said that TSW6 was the 'Coldplay' edition. So perhaps DTG put Chris Martin in charge of a new 'Bugs' department and the music would, obviously, be Fix You. Even I would be prepared to put up with his singing in that scenario
Tsw2020 is the only one that I actually remember as well as tsw5, so it’ll have to be that. Feels like so long ago now
TSW2 didn't actually have any main menu music (except for the skippable intro video music which was actually TSW2020's theme music); so it probably should be removed from the poll Anyway....its TSW4's theme for me
Like them all but TSW4 was my favourite. They’ve obviously quickly done away with the music in scenarios, but the music when you got the Scotsman to 100mph was excellent too.
Shout out to TSW4, that has got to be my favourite theme song, followed by TSW3 in joint second place. I always keep the volume level at around 20% at all times though, as 100% would make me feel like I’m in an opera house. It can be too overpowering at full volume.
Hmm, I’d have to disagree with that. Mainly because when you think of trains, they normally tell a story or have some significant back story/past to them. I can’t remember TSW3 theme so I won’t use that as an example, but for TSW4/5 which is opera, opera is the perfect type of music to enhance that dramatic effect. For example remember the Scotsman scenario on the ECML, remember when the theme song kicked in, it was so well done. When I’m selecting a train to drive and I’m reading the brief history of it the music just adds an extra layer of appreciation for what man has built and accomplished over the years. It’s quite symbolic really when you think about it.
Having only played TSW 3 and 5, I would say 3. The music is soothing that I could fall asleep to it If I had to make a ranking: 1. TSW 3 2. TSW 5 3. TSW 6 4. TSW 4 5. TSW 2020
I think the original TSW (2020) soundtrack was the best: calm, engaging, not too intrusive like the last iterations of the menu music.
Now that an option for 'don't listen to menu music' is added, why is TSW2 there? It didn't have a menu music. Also, since it hasn't happened yet, here's a (rather late) list of menu musics from across TSW for anyone who still needs a refresher somehow. TSW2020 (0:30 to 1:00 should give you the idea) TSW3 (0:30 to 1:00 should give you the idea) TSW4 (1:40 to 2:10 should give you the idea) TSW5 (1:45 to 2:15 should give you the idea) TSW6 (3:00 to 3:30 should give you the idea)
