My question is this in Dawlish there are two level crossings present in each end of the station is the small level crossing just automatic or is it like IRL where you have to press plunger to manually operate level crossing also the platform near that small level crossing is it accessible in free roam mode ?

Dawlish? It had a foot crossing for prams, wheelchairs and anyone who couldn’t do stairs, but it was always operated by station staff. Since the new footbridge came along there’s been lifts installed, so I think the crossing is out of use now.

Regarding the Riveria route. Will this be purchasable as a separate dlc at launch? At the moment on microsoft store it says not available separately,i assume this is due to the game not released yet? I know its probably better value to buy the cheapest edition with 3 routes but foreign routes dont interest me.

Yes, it will. Claim the Free Starter Pack, then buy Riviera (and the Voyagee if you wish) separately

Different people enjoy different types of route. Some people like all countries, some only UK, some only German or only US. This is all fine.

I agree. I’m not a huge fan of US content apart from the metro style routes (LIRR). Believe me I’ve tried to sink some time into routes like Cajon Pass and San Bernardino, but I can’t. I would start a TT service and about 15 minutes in I lose interest, get bored and end the service. I don’t have any problems with other countries though.

One of the great things about train simming is to get out of the parochial box and explore railways and trains from around the world. Which is why I’m particularly looking forward to the Czech route. Never been there but have watched numerous cab and train window rides on YT and hooked. Only regret is they’re not doing one of those dinky 810 Railcars though hopefully that will come as a DLC or in their next route.

Yeah have to say all these European routes are really nice to drive. If it weren't for TSW I wouldn't have bothered exploring any of them, as I was a UK-exclusive player on TSC with all the EPs and whatnot. Gotta love how easy it is to hop into TSW and drive. Nowadays all I drive is European routes. XD

I first discovered the joys of European railways, particularly Scandinavia, in early 80’s followed later on by North America. While unlikely to happen, I would love to see something like the Bergen Line (or part of) or the famous iron ore line from Kiruna to Narvik in TSW.

Why they don't put the 166 for regional services?

I drive and enjoy absolutely everything that is train related and I actually enjoy US freight, I find the criticisms levelled at it puzzling because juggling the speed of a long and heavy freight train over inclines and declines, and keeping to speed limits I find there is actually more player input required than driving a fast passenger train from A to B for an hour.
Each to their own I think is the motto. I wouldn’t pass on any train which is why I find satisfaction in every train sim.
But for people to specialise in one country or train type is fine too. That’s the beauty of this game as there is something for everyone and you don’t have to buy all the dlc. This might actually be why some people specialise - for economical reasons, we shouldn’t forget that.

Following on from my previous question about buying this dlc separately.Ive watched a few yt vids with previews, opinions etc and there seems to be an opinion that the trains and routes in the purchase packs wont be available to buy as standalone items at launch, but later on after release.I know they are only opinions but in previous games were routes in the different editions available straight away after release?
    Many thanks.

You will be able to buy it separately but if you want the Voyager you might as well buy the deluxe edition as it will cost you not much more.

Surely the route is in the free starter pack and you can buy the Voyager separately?

Like last year, the free starter pack only includes the Training Centre, none of the new core routes.

To get the new core routes, you have to either buy the full game or just buy the route/s you want.

Oh well I guess I’ll just be buying the route then. I’m not paying for routes I’ll never use. Thanks for that :)

Here is a full list from Discord:

    Additional Layers:
    Playable
    * HST and Class 166 services from Great Western Express
    * Class 66 freight trains layering from WCML: London-Milton Keynes
    * Railhead Treatment Trains using the RHTT Add-on
    * Class 47 hauled services from Just Trains’ WCML: Preston-Carlisle Add-on
    * Class 08 shunting services at Laira Depot using WCML: Preston-Carlisle
    * Flying Scotsman running a ‘Cathedrals Express’ rail tour using the loco Add-on
    * Class 52 ‘Western Pilgrim’ rail tour utilising the West Somerset Railway and Class 52 loco Add-ons, with BR Blue Class 52 substitution available for players with the GWE and Diesel Legends Add-ons.
    Non-Playable
    * The Class 158 services using Midland Main Line route Add-on can be seen at Exeter St Davids, running out of the map up the steep section of line to Exeter Central, representing Exeter – London Waterloo trains.
    * Two standard gauge heritage railway lines branch off from the route at both Totnes (South Devon Railway) and Paignton (Dartmouth Steam Railway). Though neither of these branches are included in the route Add-on, AI services can be unlocked with the Peak Forest Railway and West Somerset Railway Add-ons.
    * Playable shunting services are available using the 8F and Jubilee steam locomotives and AI Class 33 services can be seen coming in and out of the map at Totnes.
    * GWR Class 150 services also use the joint platforms and sidings at Paignton for layovers.

DTG giving a free route away, no chance ;)

I was planning to buy just the UK and German routes, but ended up pre ordering the special edition, only because I didn’t own 4 of the 5 dlc routes that come with the edition. The Riviera line I’m most excited for though :)

They have given a couple of routes away in recent years but it’s not enough for it to be considered a ‘once a year’ pattern of giveaways. They were very old content as well not new releases.

Wishful thinking I suppose. Riviera only for me. I own quite a few German and US routes but rarely play them.

And why would a company give out a new pack for free?
The free route thing has happened two to three years in an row so actually it would be enough to count as once per year

I thought about getting the deluxe as I liked the idea of my favourite German route being even bigger but for me that preview stream was a disaster, especially with the stuck service. :D It didn't feel like they'd done anything to the Dresden end of the route either.
So I'll probably just get the Riviera route and Voyager, but I'll be in no rush.

Probably get the free version and wait for a sale as I did with the last version,

Apart from Harlem and LIRR V2, those are the only US routes I play. German content I find very engaging thanks to the safety systems and the constant feeling of most routes keeping me on my toes.

To my knowledge the only route DTG have ever given away for free for a limited time was LGV Méditerranée. Was there others?

Oh yeah, Sherman hill rings a bell now. In fact, I think I picked this one up for free as it goes ;) Not a route I would’ve paid for.

It was indeed. That was an odd one. Many thought the rolling stock should have just substituted in for free once MBTA Commuter was released and complained loudly when the paid pack was first announced and I think that’s why it was given away to players who had the newer route as a kind of loyalty bonus. More of a delayed bogof offer than a true free giveaway and not like giving a whole brand new route away to everyone like what was being discussed here.
