Do we have volunteer mods now? I didn't see that announcement but you already seem hard at work on important matters!

The Frankfurt S-Bahn preview did include a timetable service run on an Xbox, it showed how much the console experience was degraded compared to PC.

They also said the ICE-T will have updated sounds, but it won't.

I can image, your specs will not be the same as Matt’s.

I believe I have a pretty decent machine, other games run perfectly fine, TSW however still struggles sometimes. I don't know what that says about Matt's specs though, must be pretty epic if it runs TSW smoothly.

I totally forgot about that Rich, that was one occasion when they did preview the Xbox build. I will remove my dig at Frankfurt S-Bahn

You’re right that in my video, my wording did connect what happened in Dresden with the dispatcher, and I could have been clearer. Now that we know it was an IC bug, I’ll make sure to bring that up again with more clarification. What I was really describing was the result of what we saw and how it ties into other problems already in the sim. The dispatcher issues I often talk about come from my and many others own experiences. Trains freeze with “Stop off path” errors or sometimes stop mid-path without a stop signal in front of them, and I can reproduce these issues daily without mods. Since nothing we’ve learned about TSW6 has mentioned dispatcher improvements in either the Direct, blogs, or FAQs, my frequent concerns about these issues in particular are still valid. The IC bug explains this one particular incident, and that makes me feel a little better, but it still doesn’t change the bigger picture of issues that still exist. If anything, it just adds to it.

I don’t know what secret sauce they use on their machines, but they always seem to have consistent FPS and gameplay. The builds they release with must be worse than the preview stream builds.

Fair but what do you mean with a "dispatcher"? The trains in game have a fixed route and is connected to time points.... So there is not an option to change the tracks last moment bij a person or the computer..... So in general if a train get stuck there is something incorrect with the path what is created by the timetable creator. In free roam there is also not a dispatcher but you're path will be created in between the fixed paths of existing trains.

I think the difference is the ICE-T is an existing unit in the game with allocated sounds already (whether they are right or wrong) the 802 is a completely new unit that is different to the existing 801.

The 802, electrically would sound identical to a 801 anyway, there wouldn't be that much difference. What matters to me personally more then anything is that the 802 diesel engines sound correct. At the moment there is nothing to suggest otherwise that the AAS sounds set has been withdrawn.

Until there is any confirmation of any change, I think it's safe to assume the AAS sounds are going to be used as originally stated. I think it's okay to speculate where there is credible information, but I've not seen any credible information outside of someone writing an unverified comment regarding the 802 sounds on this thread.

I see what you’re saying, but there definitely is a dispatcher system at play in TSW. Yes, trains are given fixed paths, but the dispatcher is what handles how those paths interact with signals and with each other when things don’t go perfectly to plan. That’s why if you’re late on a service, you might suddenly find yourself slotted behind another train, or in some cases pushed ahead.

A lot of the issues I’ve talked about show up when I’m running late and no longer in my “assigned” slot. That’s when things like “Stop off path” pop up. I’ve had this happen numerous times in busy station areas, where a train in front of me on my path won’t move and is stuck with its status reading “Stop pending dependency.” What I believe is happening is that service in front of me is waiting for me to hit a trigger point further ahead, but since I never reached it in the time i was supposed to, it can’t move. The problem is, because it’s now physically in front of me, I can’t get past it to reach that trigger point. So both that train and my own end up locked, and the system has no way to recover when services deviate from their ideal timings and get stuck in this state.

Even in Free Roam, when you create a path, it still runs through the dispatcher because the entire route is not cleared all at once. From what I have seen (anyone correct me if I'm wrong), it only reserves a certain number of signals ahead. If another train already has more of that path reserved, you will often end up stuck at a red until the dispatcher slots you in behind it.

And that’s exactly why I keep mentioning these issues. With TSW6 introducing delays and speed restrictions (that even AI trains will actually follow - this was confirmed in our latest stream), you’re going to see even more services shifting out of where they should be IN their assigned paths. That’s going to test the dispatcher in ways it has never had to deal with before. I know not every run falls apart; a lot of mine go perfectly fine when everything stays on schedule, but as soon as I find myself even just slightly behind schedule, that’s when problems like the ones I mentioned above start occurring (usually on busier timetables). That’s really where most of my concern lies. :(

There is a dispatcher in TSW Matt and the technical teams have spoken about it a lot on streams, unfortunately on some early routes like BML we had a lot of red light issues/timetable lock-ups similar to this because it had such a complex timetable and pathing etc. :)

I have to say , as much as I was really impressed by the BR294, the working gauges and good heavy sounds, i was disappointed by some core features and the bug with the green light.

I'll only start to believe that AI is taking over the world when it can be used to write Dispatcher 2.0 that prevents all lock-ups.:)

Why should I, as a PC owner, watch the broadcast on consoles? Why can we be discriminated against?

You don't have to watch it if you don't like it. If it's on consoles, I'll just do other things and then read about it on the forum.

This is actually one of the worst takes I've ever seen. How is them doing a preview stream on a console discrimination against PC users? What the actual heck? Them showing console gameplay isn't them forcing you to give up your seat on a bus like in 1960s USA. Jesus.

EDIT; If showing it on a console is "discrimination" to you as a PC user, is the opposite also true then?

Just going to add some common sense to this pointless argument.

It behooves DTG to showcase the route on as strong a PC platform as possible. This not only allows them to maximize graphical quality, but hopefully minimizes hitching and stuttering. It's for these reasons that I'd prefer that preview streams be PC only.

At the end of the day, these preview streams are meant to be a preview of content to come, not to necessarily demonstrate how well the game performs.

So as a console user it’s okay for me to be discriminated against? Even though I don’t feel discriminated against, but I’ll just pretend that I am.

Well, you're much closer to the action than any of us so I won't question the above.

However, many players make their purchasing decisions partially on the basis of how the preview stream shows off the route and so, when the route comes across as less than ready for prime time and promised features are simply missing, players will feel less than confident about putting down the moolah, at least on launch day.

I agree with you entirely. But that's based on the features of a route and not the performance.

Well when the world can't move because of a train stuck at a green light, or when you can drive for an extended period without passing another train on a " busy " main line, that's performance I would have thought.

Perhaps DTG should go home to every TSW owner and stream the game from their system for everyone to be happy...

Nonsensical. Obviously, they are going to stream the previews from the best system there is, and even then is it a stuttery and buggy mess.

Just to add again in case my previous comment is too buried. Alex said on Discord that they would show console gameplay in these next couple of weeks. It might be that they do one of the next two streams that way, or they release something separately, but it should be coming. (tsw-discussion, 10/9, 20:12)

One thing that might make the Leipzig section more interesting is, if it emulates the TSC version, signals seem spaced further apart particularly on the first section out of Leipzig towards Riesa. I briefly dusted off the TSC version the other night and it grieves me to say I got caught out with a freight run following a local. Was expecting the hauptsignal to step up to green. It didn't. SPAD. Tea and biscuits for Vern with the Manager.

The signals are quite far apart on that section. There are shorter "virtual" blocks for LZB though, so the experience will be quite different depending on what loco you drive.

On a line with LZB you have this type of signs they are instead of real signals but substitute....

    upload_2025-9-14_14-59-59.gif

If play SEHS you see this signs also they have the (near) same instruction but for TVM and not for LZB

I finally got round to a curated watch of the stream, skipping forward to the BR294 section. Looks like it could be tricky to drive with the loco and train brake on the same control and needing to switch between the two. The commentary was a bit muffled but if I understand correctly you also need to reset the system if the loco has been sat idle for a short time. Could see Matt struggling a bit to get the brakes off.

This is going to need covering in the Tutorial otherwise I can see a lot of exasperated and frustrated posts on the forum from people who can’t get it moving.

The example 294 shown looked rather clean. Needs a bit of wear and tear plus grime to reflect the fact these are workhorses slogging away day and night on the more prosaic jobs.

I didn’t have time to watch the stream so far, so reading the feedback here is quite eye-opening. Seems like they’ve got a lot of work left to do!
Quite surprising considering this route is basically Dresden-Riesa extended with reused stock, so they would’ve theoretically had more time than usual to focus on smaller things like the new features, and bug fixing. I’m not planning on purchasing the core routes until later in the year, so I can live with them launching unfinished, but I hope they can polish them up to a decent level in time for launch to make the community happy overall.

As a timetable creator I can say: the timetable bugs can be fixed until release. They likely would have been spotted earlier if the timetable uses fixed arrival/departure times of trains on intermediate stops. Then this blockage would have led to several warnings after the simulation run. The dispatcher is not at fault here. The timetable is simply wrongly setup as the EC/IC gets a green signal far too early, blocking several other trains in the process.

This is actually a key part of issues with timetable creation.

Really disappointing is rather the not updated route.

Drive the class 801 in game on diesel mode, then watch the class 802 Dev dairy video of the new UK route. It’s very blatant that it’s the same diesel sound. Only difference I can notice is that the traction motor sounds are louder.

I read somewhere that the 802 engines are more powerful and do apparently sound different compared to the 801, which is also covered in AP’s class 801 EP video when you watch it, that’s there are different engine variants/sounds.

Okay, you're basing your argument on a video from a time period for which we have no reliable reference. It's far too short, and it's very likely they included a temporary sound (which is very common in the gaming world to test and get the model working) and only added the final release sound later. So drawing conclusions from that isn't appropriate.

I've just re-watched the Dev Diary for the Rivera line. You don't get to hear the sound for any of the trains. However, it is mentioned that the sounds for the 802 are mixed from the 801 sounds along with what was recorded by All Aboard Studios. Let's just wait for the preview shall we.

I think that happens far too often here on the forum people share the wildest theories, while the actual facts tend to be a lot less exciting.
The sound between an 800/801/802 really isn’t drastically different but just one more week of patience and we’ll know the real story!
