I think TSW6 will be epic, however I would also like to hear your views as I'm rather new to TSW

Complete waste of my time to have to re-download the same game again just because their marketing team is quite bad at advertising

tsw 6 could have just been a update since it doesn’t add anything too complex or big,

also they have just refused to fix bugs from all the way from tsw 2 to tsw 5

they also say they made improvements on how the game runs but yet they haven’t when into the differences at all

A few cosmetic changes (fluff) but nothing substantial like providing more save game slots, graphic settings or allowing us to switch off adaptive eye, because the production team like it and think we should too. Not really worth a 6 on the box. A German route which adds a largely straight, flat run to an existing one. A UK route which should be good but set in the wrong era to light the LAMPOIL and possibly built or partly built by Rivet. The US route looking good but it’s another NE commuter run and continues to ignore NYC Subway.

I’ve ponied up my £58 but at this stage can’t say I’m feeling anything more than mild interest.

I look at it as a yearly release of a relatively cheap pack of three routes + three locos. Don't really care that it's sold as a 'new game'

And honestly, I'm looking forward to those new routes and trains.

Mixed feelings. I like the new features in this release. I thought I would be excited for you the German and UK routes and not the US one.

However after the first 2 streams, I'm disappointed with the he German route. The stream was maybe too early and just came across badly. The US Stream was really good and has actually made me interested to try it.

To be honest I'm worried about the UK route. It's the route I've always wanted and I'm trying not to raise my expectations too high for launch. WCMLS was also one of my wanted routes and while it's quite good now (Thanks Modders) it was pretty awful at launch. The screenshots of Riviera look really nice, but they did last year for WCMLS as well.

So I'm cautiously excited for 6. I'm in the happy position of having fast internet so the download issue doesn't really affect me. So as long as they haven't broken God Mode, I don't mind the new version so much (would be better to not do it though). Hopefully the German route is in a better position than streamed, the US route looks really quite interesting and I'll just keep my fingers crossed for the UK route. If it's good I'm going to love it.

I'm hyped for the UK and USA routes and the 802 whit the Voyager and ALP45DP, so this is why i will buy deluxe, bit disappointed for the german because of the reused rolling stock, the core features are great, but not completely justyfied for a new version, i think they should release a new version in a couple of years or few years, redownload all stuffs again is now a huge PITA

I’m surprised to say this, but I was really impressed with the US route. I didn’t catch all the stream as it was 4 hours long haha, but from the little snippets that I watched it does look like a really detailed route. I definitely can’t wait to do a few runs in the Acela next week.
The first route I’ll be playing though is the Riviera line though :)

I am a player with focus on german content and i am really hyped for the riviera line and the arrow III.
A bit dissappointed in the rolling stock for the german route, still i think an extra 77 km are more than enough to varify it as a new route.
The included ICE T also gives players the chance to get rid of the unrealistic ICE 3 from the DRA timetable, which do not own the 101 Expert or FTF.
The new features and given info from Matt P. about how they progress with performance also seems promising.

While the "new game every year" hate is a bit understandable, i dont and never will acknowledge the download time thing as a reasonable argument.

I’m little underwhelmed by it all tbh. A German route extension but without the best bit of Leipzig and a shunter as the deluxe option. A USA route which feels very similar to previous routes which the stand out will by the dual power deluxe option. the core features seem nice but I’m disappointed that the TSRs aren’t being briefed out at the start of the service which is unrealistic in the most part and will break the immersion for me.
The UK route could change my mind it if the quality is right, but currently my head is thinking I’ll take the free upgrade and then wait for a big sale later in the year to pick up some of the routes.

Just hoping they have improved the scenario creator on console. It would also be nice to be able to use filters on creators club :D. I don’t anticipate any performance/graphics updates. I fully expect a beta version on release and they will fix 20% of our feedback with a patch!

You really wouldn’t want to turn it off. It’s part of the lighting now. If you could turn it off you would require a manual iris control that you would be constantly having to change the setting on to be able to see properly. If you were to set your iris setting to have bright daylight look correct, when you went into a covered station you would end up with an almost totally black screen. You would have to manually change the iris to be able to see anything. Then when you went back out into sunlight you would have an almost totally white screen and you would have to manually change the iris setting back again to be able to see anything. The ability to just turn it off can never happen, it’s not an option. When it was first introduced it was shown what it would be like if you could turn it off and it was not good.

I'm the same as last year. I'll be grabbing the free starter pack but won't be buying DLC unless it gets a good review from the early access beta testers.

I hope that Riviera is good but the jury is out in general to see what happens. And hearing that Rivet are involved also doesn't help. If we get another WCMLS then it won't be something I'll end up buying.

I'd love to see a smooth release and I do think DTG need one.

I'm actually quite satisfied with what was shown! Leipzig Dresden wasn't perfect, but I'm confident it'll be just fine at release. As for downloading, I don't really care that much. It's a bit annoying, but not a big deal. I think a lot of people are exaggerating it a bit. You start the download and go do something else for a while. On Steam, you can download and play at the same time. It's once a year, so yeah, not ideal but it's not the end of the world.

Absolutely I’m the same and for me it’s also about saving memory especially as each year requires memory for redownloading plus that years new DLCs

I would say you have found someone who is capable of spending their time differently than in front of their screen.
However, i assume the reply for that one will be another empty accuse?

I'm looking forward to the Riviera and class 220. My only disappointment is how the sim has run since TSW 2. It used to be so smooth and lifelike but now is really stuttery. I know that new features and lighting etc put strain on platforms, it's just a shame.

I've yet to see a valid argument for the absolute nonsense of redownloading everything, and slapping a new number on the very same product. It simply does not exist.

First of all I'd like to register my agreement with all those who said that this annual rigmarole of redownloading my entire catalog is a waste of everyone's time.

As for the new content: The German route is uninspiring, being a reissue of an existing route with some extra mileage. The British offering would be interesting except that the route and stock are much too modern for my taste.

That leaves me with the Morristown route. I wish the US offering was something other than yet another East Coast commuter run. But it looks well made with some intriguing new trains, so I'll likely go for it at launch.

It's a close call whether to get the Standard Pack plus the ALP45DP or the Free Starter plus Morristown and the extra loco.
    I'll probably decide around 9/29.

I'm not particularly excited about the whole merry- go- round. The current state of the game does not engender much enthusiasm.

Not sure if you did not understand me there. I said i understand the whole new game "hate" thing a bit, as you have quoted that part of my comment. Same thing for the redownload part. I never said it isnt a problem, just not a major one in my eyes.
A new route bundle wouldnt cost much less and i like the new music/color scheme, so if they make more of TSW rebranding it as a new part then so be it.
Honestly, i dont want to argue about that any longer. You will never change your opinion and i wont change mine.
I can quite good remember saying this to you in a similar discussion months ago, which you only took as a chance to insult me.

This is what it all boils down to, it isn't an issue for you, therefore isn't an issue at all.
No, I won't, but that doesn't mean that I will automatically dismiss everything and everyone who happens not to share my opinion(s).

I just recently started trying some German routes including the talent 2 on Dresden- Reisa , so am actually looking forward to the German route to be able to drive all the way to Leipzig ( even if it’s a straight track). I normally look forward to the UK routes but have been disappointed with WCMLS and some of the outstanding issues such as no passengers at Euston , and the 350 braking realism . Hopefully riviera will be released in a better state .

I haven't decided whether I am going to buy the deluxe edition or just the UK route and Voyager. I wasn't going to invest in TSW again but something draws you back in.

I'll watch the USA route stream over the weekend and maybe that will persuade me to buy the deluxe edition. The Leipzig route looked decent but rather uninteresting. Looks like a good fast run though.

As long as the Riviera doesn't look like the poor relation of TSW6 I am mildly excited.

I understand the downloading of everything is a pain but I personally don't see it as a big issue. I do it in bits.

I own most DLCs for TSW.
I honestly don't really get the overall negative sentiment over the yearly paid releases here on the forums. You pay like 30-35-40 euros for a route, with the yearly release and the pre-order discount you get 3 routes and extra locos for 80 if you buy the deluxe edition, basically save 10 euros at least. It's a bargain if you're a collector.

As for the gameplay features, I think it's a big W across the board. 6 will be worth grabbing for the random events alone. The 3rd party DLCs coming this cycle look super interesting too. I was hoping for an Eastern European and a new Dutch route, I am getting one of those, so overall I'm quite happy.

Exactly. At first, I'll only download the deluxe content + the necessary layers. I'll download the rest when I want to play the other stuff again (or play and download the rest in the background :))

I'm not hyped at all for TSW6 being that I only run US freight locomotives and routes. There also is not a good route editor or any other improvements in the core engine that are worthy of spending money on for me. Hopefully, in the future more US freight becomes available. I will of course download the free version of TSW6 and stick with Trainz22 and TSC for my needs.

Just realized, it's been slim pickings lately for those who like US freight. No full route since Cajon Pass, just some layering options here and there....

Not how it works nor what was implied.

If you don't have an issue with it, cool.

That doesn't mean that the arguments presented by people who are bothered about it is invalid, I cannot believe I have to explain this lmao

Do what I did last year and get the free version, leave it there for a while and play the current version until a route/DLC comes along that I want. The yearly re-download of everything does my head in.
Plus, with what gaming time I do get, I'm barely playing TSW at the moment.

Really looking forward to the GWE route, it's where I grew up, there's lots to see and do, really good layers. Voyager is an excellent deluxe train.

I think the Leipzig extension (and Friedrichstadt loop), definitely justifies a new route, and extensions are to be encouraged. Again there will be so much to see and do. Disappointed by no new train in the core package, and while the 294 is fine, it's not an exciting deluxe route.

US route looks really good, although I tend to play these less and am increasingly looking at sacrificing them for disk space.

Not over-excited by random events - signal delays will just be irritating, and you'll never be sure if it's a bug. TSRs fine, and faults too, although I won't have all of these turned on all the time. Really we need dynamic pathing. Announcements look cool, and will really enhance things.

Not fond of re-downloading everything, and the lack of layers available in early access makes that less appealing.

It’s the fact 90% of the time the core releases are below standards due to the amount of bugs, hell even after a year I can’t play west coast main line modern times without blurry textures or crashing on the Xbox series X

Same, the discount on the bundle was the only thing that really drew me. It really is getting obnoxious to have to re-download everything now each year for a game that's only getting minor updates. It's also pretty sad that a year later on the console side of things that we're still facing the same issues from the previous entry. Why am I still getting blurred textures on WCMLS when that was supposed to be the flagship route for 5 on my Series X? It would be one thing if these yearly releases were legit upgrades or major differences, but to me the "expect the unexpected" stuff is just a gimmick.

I think the success of TSW6 very much depends on whether DTG can successfully pull off these new features like TSR's, Random Events, Train Faults and Layer Enabling.

Everybody will enjoy 1,2 or all 3 routes, depending on geographical preferences, but if these new core features don't work well, the whole experience will be less than satisfactory. I guess it's a good thing that they're all togglable.

TSW5 was largely forgettable for me in terms of routes, new features and the persistent presence of longstanding bugs. I sincerely hope that "6 " is a better experience for all of us, even as we know already that some deficits such as the save game and texture issues will be carried forward.

Though I'm well known as a constant ( but I hope constructive ) critic of the game and the developer, I honestly wish both TSW and DTG the best future as we turn another page in our ongoing love affair with everything trains.

Been watching afar the progress of TSW6 and keep wondering is this yearly download really worth it? I spose it must be as they keep doing it although players don't like the hassle.

I've been waiting for the GWE update and the UK route for TSW6 looks good although I'll wait a bit before buying. I'll get the free starter if I remember but I am always left thinking if DTG like doing this as it is a good way to bury fixing certain bugs?

I have all the versions of TSW installed because I periodically go back and visit older versions to mop up achievements. The re-downloading of content is therefore a big deal for me as it uses up so much storage - with TSW6 the various versions of the game will pretty much fill a whole 1tb SSD card.
