Anyone still playing on a Gen 8 console, I’d strongly recommend now is the time you upgrade, otherwise you’re going to get left behind.

With more detailed routes and timetables coming out, this is going to become an ever increasing occurrence, with last Gen consoles only receiving the bare minimum, which leads to an inferior experience.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some future route will not even support last Gen consoles, as they’re really getting on now.

Already happened! Frankfurt S-Bahn was Gen 9 and PC only.

I would have liked Class 50's, Valentas, a Blue 33 and a suitable DMU. Set in the Eighties when Newton Abbot still had 4 platforms, semaphore signals and it's 2 signal boxes. Along with 47s and 31s that would cover most of the traffic I saw when I was younger.

I'm happy to have the route in any era though as long as they've done a decent job.

To bad this route is out of era so we could have a class 143 for this

Did they even proofread the Riviera layers section of the FAQ? Screenshot_20250920-081045_Chrome.jpg

I mean the route is already a slight era mix, and although I personally do have a limit of how much eras can be mixed (within the timetable), I certainly wouldn't be opposed to a 143 on this route, even though Marsh Barton exists in this one.
In fact, whenever the TFW 142 releases, I'm going to try and find a FGW livery for it and drive it on this route a few times :) I remember when those were down here along with the 143s.

Anyway, as sad as it makes me as a lover of the pacers, I do think we are in need of much more important stock that this development time could go to instead.

It wouldn't be any worse than for example EMT branding still being present on the ECML route, or the white 375s and 37/7 loco drags occuring on SEHS on a 2019 timetable when the last 375 was refurbished a year prior. I honestly don't mind eras being mixed up to be honest, I would say that as long as they keep within the same half decade then it's fully believable, if it means more route variety then I say go for it.

Yeah a 156 would be one of my top picks, its missing from quite a few routes we already have.

Might as well go the whole hog and do a chunk of the WHL with a 156+153

Don't start now boy, along with preservation railways, rail tours do not interest me one tiny bit.
No personal offence to you of course.

All the layering mentioned in the new article about this route sound excellent. A lot of packs required but luckily for me it’s all stuff I already own.

They aren't, they've just been displaced somewhat by newer and more desirable replacements but many are still in service. I was ironically in Gravesend last week and saw a train come through pulling a mix of various aggregate wagons, and of those we have in the game currently both HKA and HOAs were in the formation.

I read the new article about the timetable, it seems good to me. Sure would be nice to have a GWR 158 though, maybe one day.

Beat me to it, looks like we will have a very authentic timetable, which is incredible. Like I said earlier, this isn’t a busy commuter route like we’ve seen elsewhere in TSW, but it certainly does have enough traffic to keep things interesting!

The article is brilliantly written, and this route could well be one of the highlights of TSW we’ve seen! I’m still enjoying it in TSC!

Timetable looks to be a chefs kiss from Tyler.. so many layers and variety of services, even adding future content!

Rivet certainly owe Tyler a few pints...

It looks like this years flagship could really be something special, particularly with how conclusive the timetable and AI is. The scenary also looks smashing. I'm hoping the rolling stock physics and quality matches the rest of the package.

Looking very positive so far. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

Gen 8 seem to have got away rather lightly. Looking forward to the route if we get all the default services. Mind you, for the first time I am now seriously considering the upgrade to a series S

I certainly have no issue with the 194 Linke Rheinstrecke timetable giving us Produktfarben in 1984! (Mentally I just pretend it's 1988)

Leaving Dawlish Warren behind, we're soon winding along the coast until we reach the red cliffs at Dawlish. The sea can be rough here, with waves crashing onto the line, a theme explored in the Wave Wall Rescue scenario. The track further from the ocean is signalled bidirectionally between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth for flexibility in bad weather.

This sounds promising for those of us who wished to see waves, storms and using the bi-directional signalling along the sea wall!

I will be looking at the scenery outside the pretty villages on the upcoming stream, like fields, meadows, woods. Trackwork merits some clutter and detail like troughing, relay cabinets, p-way items lying around. It’s not WCMLS so really no excuse for lacklustre details. This is sold as premium content (at a premium price) so expectations are naturally high. Rivet has an opportunity to change people’s perceptions here, so don’t mess it up!

The article looks promising but don't count your chickens before they hatch guys. :D With Rivet involved literally anything could happen! I hope for the early access beta testers sake it's more successful than last year.

I love the layers but the WCMLS being needed for freight is wearing a little thin. I'm keeping my eyes on the scenery also, the screenshots make the route look very clean so far so I hope there's plenty of detail and clutter. I hope we don't get a CCN with scenery that's not had enough care or attention put in.

Would have been amazing to have it set in 1966, almost nothing but hydraulics, heaven.

Have just read through the article and if my excitement was beginning to fade in any way (which it wasn't really), then this has made me think this will be even more fantastic than I could have imagined, things like having the moves at Laira Depot and steam trains at Paignton and Totnes. DTG have certainly upped their game by throwing in as many layers as possible to provide for real immersion and for anyone wishing a throwback to Hydraulic times, the Western will look great on those Railtour runs, plus we still have the HST in it's shorter Castle formation (come on, we need a plugged door version for added authenticity) and there some mention of stormy weather at Dawlish !! Cannot wait for this now...roll on Thursday !!

After the absolute turd that was the WCML south for TSW5 they did need to redeem themselves.
