Personally I like the route. If you like short, commuter services or fast paced conductor mode runs it's pretty good. If you like anything else......... well it's not the route for you.
It's fine, really, the number of different endpoints is a positive factor. Routes are busy, but variety is lacking a bit - it'll be better when the 142 comes in. It is what is.
Then you have two, three if you include Radyr, end points. Why include heath high level and cogan? They aren’t service end points. Feels like they were only added to say “look, we have x amount of services that you can drive” they dropped the ball with this route. Still hoping the line gets extended past Cogan and goes to Barry Island in an update. But don’t see it happening…
Train Sim World® 6: Cardiff City Network: Radur & Coryton – Penarth & Bae Caerdydd Route Add-On Scenario: Adverse Conditions Loco = Class 150 (Platform = Steam) Issue #1: Upon arrival at Coryton, the player is told to shutdown the cab and change ends. Player presses E to stand up and player is pinned in place unable to move, only option is to break immersion and use the keyboard shortcut for switching cabs, where issue #2 presents itself. Issue #2: Now that the player has switched ends, this is his view (see included image). A random bright spot in the cab window, blocking the player's view of signals, upcoming station platforms etc. toggling headlights, cab light, player torch, and saloon lights has zero effect on removing the bright spot. there is a solid cab wall with zero lights behind the player, so where is this.. reflection? coming from?
I hoped there will be some update with TSW 6 release. I like this route, but driver in the wrong cab is something really annoying and it shlould have a high priority to fix that.
Rather unfortunately I think that sums up the entire route for me. It's not unplayable or game breaking so it's a low priority issue.
Aye. Thats why I refunded CCN and waited. I got it as part of the special edition and I’ll be playing most of the other routes too, so it made sense for me. I don’t see CCN getting any updates unfortunately. I really would love it to, with Cardiff central being properly modelled (still think it’s criminal that they passed it off as far too much work!) the platform hopping removed when all routes between platforms are fully modelled (they are) and the obviously cut short route down the VoG extended to Barry Island. but yeah, most people have forgotten about this DLC and other than the (promised) GWR 150 sounds to patch over the tfw ones…. I think DTG has, too.
There's no guard buzzer after the doors after the doors are closed on the 153 and 150. Xbox series X on tsw 6
Bit of a strange one but the Class 153 where you have to flip the seat down when trying to exit the cab even with the seat flipped up the cab seat arms seem to get in your way and it won't allow you to exit this is particular bad when your trying to complete the Unexpected Delivery scenario where by you can't exit the cab when your supposed to go meet another worker this has happened to me a few times when trying to sit it won't allow me to sit even with the seat down and then trying to get back out of the cab when you have already flipped the seat up it won't allow you to move on past it's almost like an invisible wall is there the only thing left down is the arm rests which don't seem to be moveable. Is anybody else getting this issue? It's an amazing route! And the C153 is amazing! I have been a long term player of TSC since the Rail Simulator days and TSW was never something that interested me because of it's over saturated look and stupidly bright look it had that was until TSW 6 come along and with a few tweaks it's now fantastic. Barring out that one bug it's a 10 out of 10 route in my opinion well worth the buy if you love Train Sim World and UK DLC But even more so if you love the dinky Class 153!!!
I would go with 4.5/10. The route is still as short as it ever was and neither DTG nor Rivet have bothered to revisit the visual glitches, like the disgraceful state of the iconic Cardiff Central main station building. The 153 is nice but wasted on this short route. The 150 is still meeargh sound wise which the latest update attempting to get it right still misses the spot. Neither DTG nor Rivet have given any indication they are planning to extend the route beyond its current extent. However it does occasionally scratch the itch if you want a quick short drive or to fulfil a quick master objective. I would say deep sale only, at least 50% off.
the 6 miles down to Barry was cut out "due to running out of time"......... Most of the scenery is good, a couple of areas were completed by the cleaning lady. If you like short journeys as a driver or guard and like the 150 and 153 then its a fair route, for me its a 6/10. DTG could have made this so much better going down to Barry, polishing off some scenery and maybe adding something more freight/loco content other than the 2 (yes a whole 2) stupendously boring RHTT services. It's not a bad route, its just not finished.
The vast majority of it is well modelled, the locos and timetable are decent enough for what they are, it runs well on console and there’s plenty of different service patterns… but the whole thing feels so insubstantial. Really should have gone to Barry. If I just fancy a quick service then I might occasionally dip in, but it’s not been one I’ve gone back to much. I’d give it 6/10.
5/10 I'm very disappointed with this route. How can you enjoy a route if you can't fully explore it from end to end? I'm curious how you drive on this map? Do you get off at the end and wait for the return train? It's so damned un-immersive. This makes me even more baffled why Just Train is releasing a Pacer for this map. Can anyone explain this? Why don't they make a modification for Blackpool Branches?
It's a logical step to take, the Pacer was very well received as part of Blackpool Branches route, and the Cardiff City Network route had multiple Pacers operating between the Arriva and early TfW timeline. The Pacer lends itself well to the Cardiff route, as a driver and a guard.
It's not about that. It's about this route being terrible. It has one full service, the rest are a joke. You'll be changing trains every 15 minutes. I tried for a long time to like this route, but it's impossible. It was done haphazardly over two days, that's what this add-on looks like. That's why I don't understand why Just Train wants to include Pacer in this DLC. We'll have a great product with a crappy exterior.
Sorry if anyone has mentioned this before but I’ve seen a video on YouTube under a just trains channel name with a Timelapse of Cardiff central with the 142 timetable and there was some AI 802, XC 170s etc is this Genuine?
Exactly this. I really wanted to like this one. I thought that perhaps I was missing something with why they’d chosen the routes they had and so bought it and tried so very hard to like it. I’ve been to Penarth a good few times, so thought that branch line would give it some more appeal. But in all honesty, it needed more and it feels like yet another unfinished route. Even just to Barry Island would have been enough. But a route that finishes at Cogan and Heath High Level with a mundane branch line to Coryton just doesn’t cut it. Manchester Commuter isn’t much better, but that’s more to do with them not doing more with what they have to work with.
My worry with this route is that now we'll have another saga where DTG go "TFW DMU routes don't sell" and they'll never make another one. Were the copy pasted hedgerows and the cereal box buildings ever fixed at Whitchurch? Half of Cardiff station is missing still. As pointed out the stations that ended up on the cutting room floor would've added so much more meaning to the route? Like the post above I really wanted to love this route, the traction and the smaller journeys. But it's not had the care, the attention or the love put into it. It feels like they just needed to box it up and sell it quickly to meet a deadline. And that feedback seems to have fallen on deaf ears rather unfortunately.
To sum the route up... Rivet wanted 5 months, DTG said you can have 3 months . End result is 6+ miles of track to Barry plus a northern part was chopped out and some final bits of scenery were skimped over, including Cardiff frontage which was hastily ignored to meet the deadline. DTG are in it for the money, quality has always been a case of luck, when all the stars align.
This is a great wee route, would be better if it was extended though... Here is some more feedback. 153/150 audio still popping when moving off from a stop. Door open/close button lights are always on when train stopped. Have to close doors for green signal (mostly at Cardiff Queen Street). Lots of invisible walls adjacent to the line, especially annoying on incline from Central to Queen Street. Stopping positions don’t match stop boards at Central on platform 8 . 153 door interlock light on when doors are open at control panel. Does this route have working TPWS? OFF indicators are always illuminated.
Train doors generally do close if there's a green signal ahead of them. A green signal usually indicates a train is ready to leave.
There was annoying Rivet feature when you'd get cautionary signals on the approach to stations on a completely clear line, and a red signal until the doors close. So I know what some other forum members mean, and it was very annoying!
So far as I recall, there are no exceptions to that being the case. Any member of station staff or Guard/Conductor who gave the RA against a red signal would be immediately removed from duty and For Cause screened, followed by a Form One and Disciplinary hearing.
Hey candacedtg Sorry for the ping, I've seen you've been really active and amazing on the forums which is actually so refreshing to see so thankyou! I just wanted to ask if this thread is still being monitored with the issues that have popped up? Particularly in terms of the scenario that's still broken (CCN thread in the discussion forum), the small scenery bits that aren't quite there (Whitchurch scenery, copy pasted hedges, Cardiff central etc) and the other bits and pieces that have been mentioned in the last few pages. Not asking for miracles. Just honestly any updates/fixes to current content would go a long way on this one.
Hey! I'm trying to help as much as I can, so I appreciate the thanks! I can say a lot of these issues were reported pre-hire for me. I joined around October 7, 2025-ish, and was doing a lot of onboarding for the first few weeks, so I don't know where these are on the timetable. But with the new add-on, I'll go ahead and check in on these issues. I don't want to double up on reporting and cause more work for the Devs, so give me maybe until Tuesday to see where we're at and what info I'll need from y'all.
Thankyou so much for that! I know it was a little before your start date but that's very much appreciated thankyou
