I remember Matt talking about some testers utilising DX12 on PC and that it was envisaged that DX12 would become the "standard". (Although no timescale was ever given, or assumed). Official specs recognise only DX11 and I read various users having mixed, if not less consistent results on DX12. Potentially more micro stutters but potentially higher FPS on DX12. My question is.... Is there any strong case to utilise DX12, or does DX11 still offer the most STABLE experience?
DX12 gives less stutter en higher performance but you need a stronger pc to have advantage of it. But if you have choose DX12 for sure.
I play with DX12 for several months now. It seems that after the patch in May there were micro stuttors during the rain. However, this has long been fixed and there is no point in using DX11. Also used JetWash’s engine.ini mods
DX11 is awful on my machine, using DX12 since they fixed a lot of the performance issues that were fixed then unfixed then fixed and so on and now seem to be stable and fixed has been a lot better. They trialled DX12 towards TSW4 EOL and it was far and away a better experience than DX11 even then
Dx12 is a massive improvement, but I'm running it on a 4090, so would be shocked if it were not. Most players don't have that luxury, so I can see why it's not even a toggle in the settings menu, much less the default, since 8GB graphics cards are still a huge chunk of the playerbase, and they'd all be complaining they switched it on and the game keeps crashing...
But DTG could fix this. I don't think the problem is with the DX12 itself, but with the config used with it. Did they described in detail somewhere why they couldn't bring it to a normal functioning state and just abandoned it instead?
I ran every version up through TSW 4 under DX12, and it is better: but with my little old GPU TSW 5 crashes instantly, OOVM error.
