Surely the Class 802 is the star of the show? Hopefully the HST’s from GWE have been modded to run with the cab doors open as otherwise it will be as quiet an experience as driving the Cucumber. The real star of the show for this route should have been a Class 42/43 Warship or a Class 50! (Fetching my coat…)
So True. Although there are two or three Class 52's railtours on the route so there are at least the possibility of diesel Hydraulics.. Hopefully we may finally get to see a 50 as dlc through TSW6's reign. Hentis
Even with MTU engines the HSTs still have more presence than most nowadays. Heavy bass throbbing diesel engines and whining traction motors. Even though its been greatly reduced you’ll still hear the turbo coming through when under strain.
Yes, the 802 is nice, but the HST is the OG and once Liam adds his magic, it will be the go to train. 802 is like Star Trek Discovery, all new and shiney, while the HST is like the original Star Trek with Captain James T Kirk in command, the HST is iconic, the cucumber hasnt got there yet.
Too true. I know they are updating the HST for the remaster to have cab doors that stay open, so it would be nice if this was pushed forward into the Riviera version. That said, I have got kind of addicted to the 800’s/802’s with our Tuesday “Cucumber Club” outings from Swindon, but not the most entertaining or challenging trains for a steeply graded route like South Devon.
Good point, has anybody asked Liam about upgrading the roar for the remastered version, I am sure it wouldn't be that hard if they have stock sound there?
Yeah, I do not know if Liam is updating the engine sound on the HST for the remaster? Never known someone to be addicted to cucumber
Yes indeed. Battlefield isn't my thing but RE requiem for sure as love horror. Having said all that however, I did play BF3 etc back in day
Me too. I’m a big horror fan. I wanted to pick up the new Silent Hill too, but decided to wait until next month as wouldn’t have time to play it. From what I’ve seen of Requiem it’s shaping up to be a good game, glad they’ve gone back to the RES7 style of horror as RES8 felt very action oriented. I’m a massive Battlefield fan and BF3/4, Bad Company 2 were the best in the series. BF6 is going back to that style of warfare and gameplay which is refreshing, as I couldn’t get on with BF2042. It felt too similar to call of duty.
There's some audio work being done on the HST. I don't know the full extent as that's not my area, but Rhys, who has done audio work for the WSR remaster, is taking a look over both the HST and 166
I absolutely love horror and the lore etc behind the stories. Especially games like Outlast which was so intense lol that I put it down for months. And I am one for non modern cod games. I didn't like cod infinite warfare and advanced warfare exactly.
