I believe it was clarified early on some of the scenery was WIP and much progress had been made on the route since.

I think it's only fair we give DTG the benefit of the doubt for now and that we reserve any judgement until watching tomorrows stream. That is only fair.

Also Early Access doesn’t equate to final version. A day one patch, plus another snag list patch will likely cover all the immediate critical feedback!

We should absolutely not be made to pay for the deluxe version if we want early access then. I understand patches are required following release, but why should anyone have to shell out £50 just to be a beta tester.

One thing that annoyed me in the video published today was that the 802 door alarm was way too quiet - the exact same issue as the 801.

It's not too late to get a refund for pre-order, yes? Because it's very stressful...

Those houses are very concerningly low quality for so close to the track

This and the bridge shot were the two that stood out to me from that video. Honestly though I agree, this one could really just do with some people and cars. It doesn't look right, a complete ghost town. In real life there's always cars parked on the side of the road at that spot and obviously pedestrians on the sea wall walkway. My main problem with the route is just that ballast, its so bad, it makes the route look terrible compared to what it could do from such a small change.
I'm honestly surprised they even show these parts in promotional footage, I mean they are trying to sell us this route, not doing a great job at it with things like this though.
Hopefully all of these things will change on actual release, if not I'm hoping somebody can a mod to improve this among other things with the route.

I've looked back at some older UK routes and there's so many different ballast textures that'd look so much better. The ones I think look the best are London Brighton and East Coastway. The ballast textures on Manchester Airport and Cardiff City look quite good as well.

I've also noticed when the voyager was first announced, the screenshots and footage showed the mark where the Virgin shield used to be, but for some reason on the latest showcase video it doesn't appear to be visible.

Another concern I have is the voyager sounds. We only really got to hear the idling sounds, which did sound fantastic, but DTG never stated if they had a full recording trip to record sounds. I hope it isn't a case like the 390 where only static sounds were recorded, and the other sounds sounded, well, rubbish.

Anyone else planning on a walk along the seawall first? Might even do it at sunrise.
It had better be accessible in-game.

If I buy it, the first thing I'll do is spawn at Exeter St. Davids at xx:25 and hear the platform announcer announce the Waterloo service.

Which then promptly fails and the 33 off a Meldon Quarry stone train gets pinched to work forward.

    Saw this in the Stream.

I have absolute respect for the people working on this route. DTG are such kind and thoughtful individuals, and I am saddened to hear about the Passing of Chris

I'm gonna assume he would have loved this memorial

    RIP Chris.

This route has certainly impressed me, I was not expecting it to be as good as it's being shown.

Miles better representation than WCMLS from last year

    Well Played DTG (or rivet)

This route looks superb especially the sea wall at Dawlish. Sorry to hear that Chris has passed away. The bench is a nice tribute.

Engine failures seen to happen quite often on stream. Is it like this in reality?

Edit: and is there a way to tell an engine failure has happened if driving hud-less? Any light or indicator popping up? I couldn’t tell so from the stream.

I believe this is a post fix, Matt mentioned faults happen too often on the 150 and that it'll be fixed.

Would also like to say Rest In Peace, Chris. Very sad to hear.

As for the route, I’ve definitely expressed some dismay based on what was shown to us previous to tonight & whilst I definitely hold some of those concerns still, I was very surprised to see what’s been shown so far & the route does look to be overall quite nice & a marked improvement over last years UK release.

The star of the show so far though is the 802, it sounds amazing & I was absolutely not expecting to be excited about driving it. I’m even more excited about getting my hands on the AWC 805 now too.

Hats off Dovetail, Rivet and to those involved. Bar a few minor bugs it seems an outstanding release. Plenty to do and some great attention to detail in places.

The 220s sounds are disappointing tbh...

But DTG have stated a recording wasn't possible, so at least they are being upfront and honest about it.

Hopefully that recording trip will happen and we'll get revamped new sounds, and not 2014 sounds from TSC

This looks really good! Full credit to DTG and Tyler for this.

I feel a bit like it's Xmas eve and want to drive it now but please, please, please don't let blurry textures ruin this one!

Not watched the stream but glad to hear they seem to have got the 802 sounds working nicely. So long as the 220 is no worse than TSC, will do as a placeholder until better audio can be implemented (hopefully).

Glad to hear the positive feedback as my myself have been out this evening. I'm glad the scenery worries haven't come up badly again as that was my personal worry!

Hopefully it all holds that way, we deserve a great UK route after last years!

Very, very impressed with what I've seen on the stream this evening. Having travelled the route so many times in real life, I can see that it is beautifully modelled, instantly recognisable, and an accurate representation of this wonderful part of the world. It evokes so many great memories and I'm genuinely impressed by what they've created here. I cannot wait to play it. Great job and hats off to the team for what I've seen so far!!

I think a massive hats off to Tyler for the timetable, he is very knowledgable and passionate about providing an authentic experience in game.

Just what Rivet needed, that’s been my main criticism of Rivet is their timetables but from CrossCity and now this, those fears are now well and truly gone. Well done Tyler! An absolute asset to TSW.

Just some minor issues noted from the stream.

Im very lucky to work on this route daily for a certain green TOC, so know this route inside out!
Overall im very impressed, though the lighting engine doesn't do the route justice.

    Route:

Signal UM202 should be the long pole ILS variant for signal sighting.
Signal E21 should be LED vice halogen, with a Position Light on the gantry for shunts.
Signal E15 should be LED for the time period.
Signal DM210 should be LED for this time period.
Signal UM211 & UM210 should be LED for this time period.
Signal E109 Repeater on the Up Torbay is not LED in real life

Lack of Automatic Signal Plate identifiers on some signals (DM206, UT18 noted)
(Signal Plates baring UM/DM & UT/DT are automatic signals)

OFF indicators at EXD & NTA way too high up in the canopy, so you cant see them. Wrong style of OFF indictors at EXD too.

Teignmouth Platform (Down) Tactile paving stops suddenly, making it look a bit off.

Questionable default models for Level Crossings, including the lack of Paignton South crossing model, which is a different crossing type.

No portable AWS warning for the warning of a TSR.

    Class 150:
Overall a big step-up from the TfW version and seems to handle brilliantly.

Cab doors at the active cab end should be locked out until you've keyed out or 'butterfly' the cab door. The door buttons should be isolated.

Other than that, it seems great!

8 engine stalls on the stream with the 150, seems far too excessive (an engine stalling is not common, yet alone 8 times in a trip!) Edit: Matt said this would be fixed i gather?

    Guard issues still seem to be present as per the 150 from TfW;
    • Local Door Operated Light should be ON when the local door switch is operated
    • Buzzer should continually sound if you key-in to more than one place, requiring you to key out.
    • Saloon Local door (inside the coach) should not sound the hustle alarm when opening/closing your local door.
    • Crew local door (behind the cabs), the buzzer should not be the one used inside the salons, but the bell as per the cab buzzer.
    • A local door switch operated when not keyed in, should apply the brakes & display a BIL in the relevant coach.

    Class 802:

IET sounds lovely, including ATP features.
Though there are some questionable stopping positions for them - Usually its right up against the platform or off it (formation depending).

    Class 220:
Not traction i work on, but are around them regularly at work. Overall the sounds seem alright and appear to do the job.

Overall, pretty good but will have to wait till i get my hands on it properly to see if there any more issues!

I’ve just watched the stream. I have waited for this route for a long time and all I can say is Wow! I’m glad they waited so long to do it rather than releasing it in an earlier version of TSW because I don’t think a (say) TSW2 release would have done it justice.

And hats off for the bench at Dawlish. A truly fitting tribute for Chris.

Some of the scenery on today's stream looked beautiful, fair play to DTG/Rivet for that. However there were a few areas that could do with a bit of touching up, for example near Newton Abbott there was grass that looked like it was growing through the rails.

The announcements on the 150 and 802 sounded very good, though on the voyager (where the announcements are the same as the 150) I would've liked them to use the same announcement system as the 802 as it would make sense for longer distance journeys, whereas the 150 is used for more stop-start operations.

The 802 sounded amazing, as did the idling sounds for the 220. However Matt said that some of the sounds from the 220 were taken from the BR 612, which has diesel hydraulic transmission, and as such would sound completely different to a diesel electric transmission, which is what the voyager has. On stream the sounds sounded alright, but I'll probably have to check them out myself before forming a stronger opinion.

I have got to admit, I was surprised, the route was a lot better than I was expecting. The Dawlish area scenery is spectacular (besides certain tunnel light baking issues), its very cool to see the new wall modelled in game, and Tyler did an excellent job with the timetable.
Voyager sounds are questionable at best but Matt did explain why on the stream and I guess its not entirely their fault if they cant get a recording trip. Although it would be nice if they could get an update, especially since the Voyagers go all over the country, I'm sure we will be seeing them a lot in layers of future routes.
Definitely not disappointed with the route, certain places have gone slightly over the top with trees though, and the obvious awful looking ballast.

Also the part of the stream where everything went wrong with the Voyager was very funny to watch if I'm honest, especially considering it was an XC Voyager and a fault with the fault feature.

Everything on the stream looked great. The only concern was the faults going a bit haywire on both the 150 and the Voyager. It sounds like they already have a patch for the 150, but hopefully there is a good explanation for the problems Matt had with the Voyager at Newton Abbott. Otherwise might be best to run with faults at a minimum to begin with.

Though do agree it was classic CrossCountry in a way :D

I’m very surprised at how good it looked. Obviously there’s a few lighting areas that need working and the 220 sounds aren’t great. But overall it looks good.

Although I can see the random faults getting boring after a while.

One thing that seemed disturbing to me was the textures, when the oncoming train approached, they turned almost white. Probably some LOD.... I've noticed this in the past with a few English models, but here it really stood out

Yeah it seems to be the 802’s interior lighting when viewed through the windows.

Had a look (and listen) and I’d agree with the idling sounds being pretty good. A Voyager usually drowns out whatever else is in a station, and it seemed to do just that.

Sending it to 125 will reveal more though, of course!

Just had a quick curated watch of the stream and must say most of my fears have been assuaged. The route looks good and if Rivet are partly or wholly responsible looks like they have pulled their socks up.

I skipped past the 150 to get to the 802. Sounds are good so yellow card back in the referee’s pocket. Seems like they have done a compromise and allowed an albeit subdued engine noise to be audible in the cab. Voyager sounds seem acceptable too, probably better than the TSC versions.

Only thing I did notice as previously reported I believe are the flashing effect on the Cucumber windows as it passed the Voyager.

Really looking forward to driving this later once downloaded and installed. Really do wish DTG could sort out preload with Steam.

Yes this looks pretty good but will wait on the feedback over the next few days. I don't feel I saw much of the route with most of it being driven inside the cab. So didn't really get to see the surrounding countryside. It's just stuff I want to see but feel I never saw it.

I agree, when I get my hands on the route there's certain parts I need to fly over and see entirely for myself. How it looks from the cab is obviously most important but I am curious. As I said before they have gone way over the top with trees in places, and it blocks things you would be able to see in real life from the cab.
