I know it’s been suggested before but please DTG let us skip time. I really don’t want to wait 15/20 minutes in a freight train at some siding. Or wait for like half an hour at a train station when I just want to drive a train back. it’s an easy update. But I am tired of waiting. It’s not real life. It’s still a video game

And an option to teleport wherever your marker is on the map when on foot.

I believe an explanation of why this is not implemented has been given in the past and comes down to the fact that the game needs to continue running the simulation through this, so it would be a sped up time rather than a skip, would be dependent on your PC's CPU capabilities as regards running the game at faster than normal speed, and might run the risk of breaking the physics and causing problems like AI derailments, signalling issues, and the like.

and I'm sure the consoles (even the 9th gen ones) wouldn't be able to handle it

All users write that we need more immersion in the game. Or that one thing or another destroys the immersion.

Here in Switzerland, and I assume also in Germany and probably in many other countries, it is normal that when you take over a freight train, you sometimes have to wait 10, 15 or 20 minutes before you can finally depart.

This is because other trains have priority over freight trains.

Count me in on those who don't particularly mind having to wait a couple of minutes every now and then. That's part of the "job" :)

And I agree with Princess Entrapta that it would rather be a speed-up than a skip, since the timetable has to run its course in the background. And considering the complexity of some newer timetables, speeding through this process might bug things up royally.

Except when it's the HSP46 and you get this objective :D

Zusi manages time skip/fast forward and it has both complex physics and a full timetable to dispatch - with more dynamism than the signalling AI in TSW.

Do we still have that freight run on ECML where you arrive at destination 40' early and have to sit there for the timetable to complete?

If you have a long wait for a passenger train to pass, then it’s the perfect time to go into the kitchen and make a cup of tea. Dunk some biscuits too, to savour the moment. Come back, what’s that? A green signal. I should imagine that’s what most freight drivers do. Drink a lot of tea :)

Don't know if that's the smartest idea while driving a long-haul freight train with just a few stops and not many opportunities for bathroom breaks... I certainly would explode :D

Not to be crude, but I think men can get away with that more than women ;)

Men seem to have it easier in that regard, true. ;)
I've seen a few (male) train drivers who had no qualms about quickly leaving their loco on the non-platform side while in a station, and quickly do "it" facing towards their loco... I don't blame them, still better than "letting something happen" inside of the cab, especially while driving :o

Haha absolutely, most freight trains are very bumpy. Unless I was at a red signal and stopped, there’s no way I’d empty the tank ;)
I would throw the bottle out the window too, to hide the evidence and maybe spray some air fresher also before leaving the cab ;)
Is that why I see so many plastic bottles on the railway in and around London? Train drivers have the same James Bond secret style approach as me when taken a pee in the cab.
This is toilet humour at its finest ;)
