(Not a bug, but general feedback)
Instead of just having just tool tips for faults the fault indicators in the trains needs to be used, at the moment if feels weird and unrealistic without it especially compared to the expert 101

My first thoughts are that it is a nice start, but I hope there will be more advanced and more types of faults in the future. I think it would be nice if faults were integrated more into the train, for example displaying error messages on any computer screens.

Some I would like to suggest are:
    • Turbo failure on diesel trains (I heard this was planned but cancelled, I think it would be good if it made a return)
    • Coupler disconnecting/breaking
    • Coupler hatch stuck
    • Coach lights
    • Air/brake hose leak
    • Air suspension leak
    • Compressor issues
    • Jumper cable problems

Just posted in the Riviera thread but even though I'd disabled train faults i still got a stuck passenger door fault on the class 150.

I only got that one fault though if that's any help?

Got same two doors stuck faults in close succession with the Riviera 150, despite the Random Train Faults option being disabled. [PC]

15 times I had to restart the voyager engines on a run from Plymouth to Exeter and that's with the faults setting on low.
Good thing is I found that you don't need to stop or put the reverser into neutral, you can just press the engine start button for a few seconds and it will clear.

The train faults still occur even if you have them off, though it only seems to be the stuck doors. I’ve had this now multiple times on both the 150 & 220.

I know DTG Matt mentioned the idea of having a setting for the faults helper separate from the other driver helper prompts, but I think a useful suggestion would be to add something that lists faults when multiple occur at the same time. On a Morristown run, I had three faults trigger within 30 seconds (wiper, lights, pantograph), and while trying to operate the train and stop safely at a station, it can be easy to forget what broke and what still needs fixing. Having them listed or grouped in a checklist-style view, where you can track them and watch them disappear in real time, would make managing faults much easier imo. :)

As mentioned for other trains, stuck doors can occur even if Train Faults are disabled on the Arrow III as well, even in the training module. Series X.

Even though I set the Odds to low, I encountered the same error twice in a row on my very first Service. It was an RB31 Service from Dresden to Coswig with Talent 2, and the same door got stuck at DD Hauptbahnhof and Friedrichstadt. Later, another door got Stuck shortly before the end of the Service.

Train Faults happens a bit too often, in my Opinion.

The announcements aren't a feature on ps4. Not sure about faults though. Maybe they were excluded from ps4 also

Train faults are a fun idea and really add to the experience but they occur way to often even on normal.
On a Riviera run with the 220, in 30 minutes I had 5 engines faults, 4 of them in a short window leading to a complete power loss before I could even reach the station, and a stuck door. This is highly unrealistic, and they should either occur way less or implement a percentage setting just for train faults.
The TSR and signal events are working quite fine but train faults probability should be more in-line with what the 101 Expert has as default. Might have a chance to get a fault or max two per run, or maybe not at all.

Because, unfortunately, a majority of ps4 users havent upgraded to ps5 yet, so they would lose revenue. Im guessing this maybe the last TSW on the ps4 though. Hopefully.

Had to turn off train faults because it got way to annoying. First run on the Riviera Line I only got a single temporary speed restriction and no train faults.
But now after my first run on the Morristown Line on a short 38 minute service I got 2 blown fuses, one lowered panto, one temporary speed restriction and FIVE stuck doors (almost every stop). It's just annoying and repetitive.
I wish there was a way to disable either just the stuck doors or adjust the amount of random events for each category (train faults, speed restrictions and signal delays).

Edit: Also had multiple stuck doors each during the training modules for the Arrow and Class 220.

Edit 2: Another run on the Riviera Line on the Class 220: One stuck door and two stalled engines in 30 minutes. Not as excessive but still too much in my opinion.
And then one hour long run on the 150 with 5 engine stalls. Three of them within a minute of clearing the previous one.

    Platform: PC (Steam)
    Route: Morristown Line (Arrow III)
Service: 414 Gladstone - Hoboken (Timetable)
Repeatability: Didn`t have the issue on two runs on the Riviera Line

Honestly enjoying the faults more than i expected, but the frequency probably needs to be decreased a bit. I hope they are committed to tweaking and refining this feature!

Have to echo some other peoples' thoughts:

The train fault UI popup should be split from the other (unnecessary for experienced drivers imo) notifications- i'd like to ONLY get the UI for faults.

Since multiple faults can happen simultaneously- the player needs to be able to track them somewhere.

Ultimately, i think this boils down to needing a virtual drivers log that would follow you around your TSW experience. Like an in-game tablet where they can stick maps, fault checklists, TSR briefings (which were mentioned pre-launch but haven't appeared so far), etc and you can pull it up anytime in-game. MSFS2024 uses a similar feature.

Yes, it would be slightly gimmicky, but wayy more immersive than the current implementation imo.

Of course it's best for it to be integrated into MFD screens where appropriate, but that's another discussion.

The frequency needs to be toned down a lot for train faults, they should only occur often if you want to set the frequency toggle to high.

In my personal opinion, if it is set to normal or low, you should have more runs where no train faults occur or TSRs out on the line than runs when they do happen. For example, 5% chance of faults on Normal, 1% chance on Low and High having something like 50% chance.

So far, I haven't had any services where nothing has happened and I have it set to Normal.

I do like the faults, but they seem to be happening so often that you wonder how there are any trains running on the TSW network at all :D

DTG Matt sorry to tag you but I was wondering if you can share your opinion on the above discussion regarding the excessive train faults. I hope you guys can find a solution to tone it down as the feature itself is quite nice, but right now it makes every train feel like it's on its last leg.
I know this is wishful thinking but what if you could tie a percentage for failure to each train bases on its age at least for future content. So for example a pacer, class 47 or 20, Br103/143 would have bigger chances of failure compare to modern trains ex:802, voyager, Ice T? That would be interesting as well

This is my experience too, the engine faults are happening 3 times in a row sometimes in such short succession. Even on low I had like 5 engine stalls and no other faults on the 150

Also as someone else said it would be nice if the faults actually produced fault light responses, or in the case of the 150 and 220 the engine status lights changing.

For what is in the game right now the frequency obviously needs to be turned down alot. I got four engine stalls with the 150 in about ten minutes before turning the faults off. Additionally I would like the fault notifications to be integrated into the train. For example with the fault lamps going off. Separating the fault notifications into its own setting would then also be neat to allow players to turn it off and just use the in game notifiers.

For future content, It would be nice if faults that impacted gameplay in a different way was introduced. More specifically faults that impact the driving experience and that gives an excuse to drive the train differently. For example dynamic brake or tilt failure. This would give the player the option to just not turn the switch or fuse back on and roleplay that the fault had stayed, giving a different driving experience.

Faults, my word! Just like when im at work, failures can happen out of no where. However the fault implementation is very poor.

I play without the HUD and there is zero indication to a engine 'stall' - theres lights within the cab for a reason. Mainly playing with the 150, but ive got so frustrated with the faults ive had to disable the 'feature'. I think what irritated me more was that it wanted me to fully shut down the 150 and back on, just to turn a 'stalled' engine on. Where as in reality, its a case of stopping at your next station, into Neutral, and pressing 'Start' and it comes back to life.

There really needs to be some tweaking with the faults to be far more balanced. I mean look at DTG's preview stream; 8 stalls in one journey to PGN! I doubt ive had anywhere near that number IRL, but if so it would likely not be in service.

4 stalled engine faults on Riviera (1S41) seemed a bit excessive (I had one stuck door at the end). One instance of a given type on a trip is plenty. I didn't notice a difference in how the train operated so it seemed a bit contrived.

Train faults - particularly engine - are far too frequent class 150, riviera line - journey mode - set to normal. - getting an average of 5-6 engine faults a run....(PC - steam)

Did a run from Exeter to Paignton in the Class 150 and had no less than 5 engine breakdowns.

I think, like the TSR it should be capped at 1 event per TimeTable run.
