TSW 1 = Buggy as hell. Missing features such as passenger views when being able to control the train, a true free roam mode etc. Couldn't even do the fly-by view properly on console as you kept pressing the R stick in and it changed the control layout whilst resetting the camera each time!

TSW 2 = Fixed some bugs but also buggy hell.

    The list goes on.

I bought 5 for Xbox One and they released a version so poor that I'm surprised it was allowed. Why is this happening? Why can't they add the most simple features to make the game more enjoyable? I'm miffed, truly. It's been years guys!

Because its not their job to care. If you want caring go see family, friends, co-workers, doctors or teachers. That is part of thier jobs.

Do you think EA, McDonalds, Ikea or Costco care? No they just want your money as they are businesses that what they do.

The Xbox One is well over ten years old, and you're surprised the experience is poor?

As others have said, to get the best out of this game you either need a reasonable PC or a PS5. I personally wouldn’t bother with XBox anything!

I was an Xbox One user until earlier this year, but honestly you should be surprised they are still releasing on Gen 8 consoles

Is that supposed to be helpful? Whilst Gen 8 consoles are well past their time, many people have spent hundreds of pounds on dlc for a certain platform, and obviously won’t give that up

Right - the game runs great on Gen 9, both XBOX and PS. It's absurd to compare a Ninja PC with Gen 8 - if you're going to do that then I can trump that with my terrible potato PC which runs far slower than Gen 8 but cost the same.

Anyway, a lot of us are done with the hassle of gaming PCs - each to their own, but not for me any more. I was a PC gamer for more than a decade and loved the flexibility vs. consoles but eventually fell out of love - usually marginal gain over XBOX/PS for substantial additional cost, myriad incompatibility issues, ridiculous and costly GPU 'arms race', playing in a small, stuffy box room somewhere or the home office rather than in a home cinema room with huge 7.1 sound and a >= 65" OLED etc. etc.. OK, maybe a few PC players have their noisy, LED-festooned towers hooked up to the TV, but the majority don't.... Anyway, slightly tongue-in-cheek maybe, but for quality of life consoles win every time.

TL;DR - Gen 9, both XBOX and PS, run TSW great so don't be misled by PC zealots.

I spent dozens of pounds back in the day for ZX Spectrum games.

    Technology moves on.

Sadly, its what always happened with consoles, they have an obsolesce date. PCs can easily be upgraded.
IF DTG didnt care, they wouldnt release them on obsolete consoles for folks.

What if someone told you that your PC isn’t adequate and you need to throw away all that dlc? You’d be pretty unhappy. Just because something doesn’t affect you, doesn’t mean you should completely disregard it and even have a laugh about it at their expense

Now, what features you mention are anyone's guess, and the quality/performance issues you encountered are also not mentioned. I would really encourage you to move forward to next generation for performance, even if it is just a second-hand console, if your budget doesn't allow getting a new device. Xbox One is 12 years old, so there is not much that can be expected of it nowadays. Frankly, TSW5 on Xbox One is probably just as bad an experience as it would be on a 12-year old PC, so it's not really a console-only problem..

As to why it is allowed, is the answer is simple. Everyone makes money when games sell - the developer, the publisher, the platform holder. When platform holders raise the quality bar for developers, it makes harder to sell your game, which in turn makes development more costly and moves sales further in time. This makes the whole process less lucrative, so the certification process on consoles today is a laughable shadow of itself from, say, 2012, when it actually meant something. Nowadays as long as you pass storefront checks and use correct terminology you are mostly okay, even if the performance is trash or issues make playing the game annoying and painful. Long gone are the moments when certification testers looked at every single part of a game and would fail the process when an achievement didn't pop when it should, a certain area of the game had degraded performance, or settings wouldn't save. Nowadays these pass certification with flying colors and maybe a warning, that isn't even followed by a mandatory fix leading to conditional release. Hence we have all of the above in TSW, and much more. But money is being made.

Oh look, we have a clown on board.

Acting like an ar$ehole on community forums looks like your problem, yet we all suffer for it. If you don't have anything constructive to say staying silent is a better option.

They do care, but much more so for the revenue, rather than for the experience. Clinging to the previous generation five years after launch certainly is a... peculiar choice. Must make monetary sense then, if it happens, because businesses are rational, and do not act on a whim. Battlefield 6 launches exclusively on Gen9 soon, and their biggest competitod, CoD, is still clinging to Gen8. I don't know how this will go for them, but I have my expectations ;)

And if you ever want to switch to PC they also carry there, so you can play on Xbox on PC (or whatever the hell Microsoft is calling their Microsoft Store gaming offering _today_. It is a viable option for people that have PCs, though they prefer playing on console (such as myself), that want to have better experience until Gen10 comes and maybe improves things (which I hope will happen, personally).

    Doctors, teachers, etc.... HAHAHA!
It's not their job to care either.
If you keep buying content, you enjoy the product enough to keep buying it.
If you don't... then you don't.

I like how everything DTG is always automatically wrong no matter what it is.
If they support Gen 8 consoles...they're wrong because they "are idiots supporting obsolete products."
If they move to only Gen 9 consoles...they'd be wrong because they 'don't care about Gen 8 customers"
If they release a UK route, US and Germany players whine.
If they release a German route, UK and US players whine.
If they release a US route, German and UK players whine.
Release a bundle of all 3 for TSW 6 at a decent price and people whine there's no Dutch, French or Japanese route.
    Can't win.

I agree. It's frustrating when games have bugs and issues for years. But I do think they are trying to get it right. Remember, consoles are a kind of computer, but gaming started before PCs. Remember when there was only gaming in arcades? Pong? Atari 2600? I have a PC and can afford to upgrade or build a gaming PC. But I have video and music editing software, large Microsoft Office files, etc. I choose PS5 because it's dedicated to gaming and many games run better on it anyway. And it's nice to be able to use them separately. On my last doctor visit, he told me that he is a gamer (I WAS surprised). Guess what? He has an X-box. I'm sure he can afford a PC.

Please keep it nice in here, we are continuing to support Gen 8 for TSW6 and Future Add-ons will be a case-by-case basis. We care about all our players as a lot of us are Rail Enthusiasts as well and we always like to hear your feedback.

I've had consoles going back to the SNES including the latest (now 5yrs old) 9th generation, but these days I stick with PC because I'm a nerd and enjoy the hardware and software side of things. I worked in IT for 30 years so configuration, driver maintenance and updates are second nature. The upside is I get the best experience graphics-wise and access to all those lovely mods and Steam sales, but I admit it can get pricey keeping hardware up to date. I get the appeal of the plug n play console experience and respect it, but gen 8 folks really need to upgrade, sorry but there it is. Remember, what you have already bought for Gen 8 will transfer to Gen 9, so nothing is lost.

I've been on these forums quite a few years and believe that DTG do care. The real train enthusiasts like Matt and Jamie put their heart and soul into their job and it shows, but they don't have a say in all aspects of the business. Is TSW perfect? No, but I'll still take over anything else on the market.

You can get a decent PC for 500 whatever-currency-you-use. Get a 1tb ssd, 16gb of cheaper ddr4 ram, a GTX1650 or something like that and a Ryzen 5600.

    My PC is mid-tier:
    - 1tb ssd + 512gb ssd
    - 16gb soon to be 32gb ddr5 ram
    - a Ryzen 5 5600X
    - a 3050 8gb vram (shittiest GPU ever)

Cost 800€ and it works perfectly with TSW6! Like at this point consoles don't make sense. But the 500€ option also works. Just do the research because I pulled the component names from my rear end and they are defenitely not the exact ones.

technology moves on DTG don't it seems Like jack#9468 says Xbox One is 10 years old Rather getting a £600 PC get a £250 Xbox series S that can do what Gaming Pc can do (minus mods) Half of the price the reason why The game doesn't run well is DTG 1. doesn't upgrade the unreal engine 2. poor optimisation 3. bug fixes That sometimes don't even fix the god dam bug The hardware is fine just poor optimisation that lets the game down but on 10 year hardware what do you expect it can not handle more demanding games such as TSW 6

That‘s life since games exist! Also my PC needs some upgrades from time to time! You can‘t expect modern games to use yesterdays standards. This is called evolution. If I refuse to upgrade my PC, I have to play with lower settings too.

No kidding! And now Atari has the nerve to double-dip with the Atari 50 collection. I owned many of these games on the 2600, and now they're expecting me to buy them again not even 50 years later! The unmitigated greed of these people.

I don't want to stir things up, but there's some truth to this. It's not pleasant to hear, but if you look at it fairly from both sides and don't immediately start shouting aggressively at each other, but instead honestly consider the facts, then a PC is much stronger factually more powerful to run a game, in this case TSW. We also see this reflected in the related issues that many Xbox and PS players complain about.

Furthermore, the price of a console isn't a fair comparison. It's like buying a Fiat Panda and thinking that's expensive enough then you can't expect the quality of a Porsche.

Again, it's not nice to read, but he does have a point. It's all about choices, and those choices come with a price tag that's a clear conclusion. I don't think the comment contributes to a constructive conversation toward a solution, but it's still between two parties. I also believe that as a console player, especially Gen8, you shouldn't expect everything that a PC player has who have paid way more then a console player, who clearly invests more in gaming.

My appeal is to keep things respectful, not to demand too much, but also not to be condescending toward people who want or can

Your logic is flawed in that nobody asked what the most powerful platform to play on is.

These comments are wholly unhelpful in most circumstances they crop up & add nothing to the discussion.

Said comments also always come from people who are in a tiny percentage of people with powerful rigs & conveniently gloss over the fact that the vast majority of PC users are using hardware which is only as or even less powerful than current gen machines.

My 4080/i9 rig obviously runs games better than my PS5, but that doesn’t mean my purchases on PS5 get to come with spadefuls of bugs, many of which exist across all platforms including PC.

Sorry, then you’ve completely misunderstood my point. It’s true that I’m addressing the reality of the situation, but I also believe just like you said that the issue is mishandled from both sides. In my view, console players often expect too much, and on this forum things are frequently expressed in a demanding tone. That said, I absolutely agree that there are things going wrong, and that’s not up for debate.

I also mentioned that the comment I quoted doesn’t contribute anything meaningful, and I asked for mutual respect because not everyone wants or can afford what someone else has. It remains a fact that many issues are tied to the price point of a console, which leads to problems like blurry textures. That’s not DTG’s fault, but simply a limitation in performance. DTG could certainly do more to mitigate that, but I think the current quality of routes is something Gen8 consoles just can’t keep up with.

As console player i'm aware that the experience is not similar to PC (S bahn Frankfurt), but unfortunately i'm one of those who can't afford one pc, and if i was one pc player i don't blame console users like someone done before or say "buy a PC" what we don't like as console players is to be blamed from PC users for no reason

It doesn't do "everything a gaming PC does" if you look at the specs. Consoles are just mid-level gaming PCs with slightly different UI. Their specs are just regular computer components like you'd get in a big box store. The difference is you can't "upgrade" your console incrementally or modify the software/hardware so it's stuck at the "default" configuration. So it's great if you want cheap, but the downside is... you bought cheap. It's not good or bad, just one option.

It's like buying a "cheap" computer from Wal Mart.
You get what you pay for.

I don't know enough about programming to say if TSW is "optimized" well compared to other games, but I do know it's scope keeps expanding every year while the consoles age since they haven't released any in what 5 years now for the Xbox S? Computers are generally replaced to be "current" every couple years, and are "playable" for maybe 5-10 depending on the game. So the best consoles are at their half-way obsolete point and the previous versions are hitting their "obsolete" point.

I'm not blaming console users that have nothing new to buy. However, they'd be better off directing their anger at performance to the console makers for not producing any new systems in 5 years. The alternative would to keep TSW at 2020 tech levels with that level of features and content so it plays well on 2020 systems. Or 2016 for the original Xbox S. Or 2013 for an XBox One (which is the"8th Gen" people keep discussing keeping support for in TSW)
What other games are asked to keep the tech level to 2013 standards?

It's simply a topic that sparks heated reactions, which often leads to facts being overlooked and drowned out. You pay relatively little for a console and get a lot in return, but the components used do reflect that price point.

back to the point, Train sim world's peformance is bad as hell, yes I know everyone yapping about the X-box 1, but I have a gtx 1050 and a fx 4300 and I can run this game with older routes, but yea, newer routes have bad peformance. I can run a modern game(s) with around 30 fps on highest settings, this game not even letting me get over 25 fps with lowest settings, but it really depends on the route. Training center or Hauptsrecke Rhein Rhur are really easy to run, while if you wanna run Frankfurt Fulda you first need a rtx 4090 before your coming over 30 fps.

My biggest issue with TSW is the poor (T)AA on console, which also affects the HD mode on current gen. UE4 games at HD should be able to look better then this on current gen. Also UE4 games should be able to run at say 900P or so on gen8 consoles.

    That's not true either.
I play with an RTX 3080 10GB, and I play at 4k, with 65 FPS on all tracks.

The minimum requirement for TSW5 is a GTX 750 Ti. I don't know what resolution DTG had in mind for that card, 360P?

Sorry, is it really that hard to understand that the issue isn't with TSW but with the hardware in your PC? You're using a graphics card that's 10 years old. Do you expect DTG to fix that for you?!

I do not like to multiquote. But here's a rundown of my (Personal) point of view.

    - We can all agree Gen8 (PS4 - Xbox One) is past their prime. And for the OP, I recommend to start saving some money to upgrade to Gen 9.
    - Also, (I say that as a PC user, albeit with older hardware by today's standards) let's remind PCMR that PC is not the answer for Everyone, especially if someone has a tight budget or other needs for Console use.
    - And one more thing to keep in mind is that optimization (and bug fixes) plays a major role in the game's performance, no matter the platform & tbh i hate having to agree with Tim Sweeney about Developers giving no Da-mn about game optimization (He said it for Unreal Engine 5.x games, but that also extends to UE4.x).
    - And for the current Requirements for the game is the following (From both Steam/Epic Games):
    CPU Minimum: Intel Core i5-4690 @ 3.5 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X @ 3.7 GHz
    Rec: Intel Core i5-9600K @ 3.7 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3.6 GHz
GPU Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 460 with 2 GB VRAM -
Rec: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 5700 with 8 GB VRAM
    RAM Min: 8GB - Rec: 16GB
The above requirements they seem abit bogus, because most people surely meet both, and still have massive performance drops.
And for my personal experience, the Performance optimization started to go downhill with TSW4 & in TSW5 was nonexistent (since last update. Performance got better, and I upped the screen scaling to 120%).
And for those struggling (PC), try using Lossless scaling: https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/

I may have missed something. But still no time to argue, (Try to) enjoy the game no matter what, and onwards to TSW6 release (Free starter pack & Standard edition).

Am I wrong, or is the GTX 1050 from 2016?

The problem is that their definition of "minimum" is not minimum to be enjoyable, but minimum to RUN the game at all. Their "minimum" is far too low in practice. Yes you can boot it up, but you are NOT playing the game as it should be, and it gives a false impression of what it takes to run the game effectively.
