No, this is nothing like rebuilding it in UE5. DirectX is just a set of APIs, and most PC players force DX12 anyway, if their hardware is up to it.

Anyone else finding an issue where when stopping at a station and completing boarding with no issues (voyager and iet) the brakes won't release after all doors are locked??

Why do people get so angry when they see a simple suggestion that isn’t even as big as changing to UE5 or at that any suggestion to update the game’s core in anyway as if it’s impossible.

Does anyone know if there's a keyboard shortcut for the driver-guard buzzer on the Voyager? 'B' doesn't work (neither does Ctrl+B or Shift+B). The in-cab button is functional.

    Some questions on scenarios:

    1. In the preview stream Tyler mentioned the scenario where you have to take an 802 to Laira depot for refueling where he said it is possible to fail by running out of diesel before you get to the depot. When I did the scenario I didn't seem to have any problem but drove very sensibly. Would this only happen if you went full throttle and oversped the whole way? I'm also guessing in reality that there is a way on the TMS to see your fuel level but I'm not sure if this is modelled in game? It is a good scenario for helping you appreciate how you can use the gradients to accelerate and decelerate without having to apply much throttle or brake.

    2. When doing the sea wall rescue scenario, as I approached Dawlish to stop before doing the coupling procedure there is a loud bang that can be heard that made me jump slightly as I wasn't expecting it. Does anyone know what that is meant to be? I'm on PS5 and it wasn't like the sound popping bug that I'm getting occasionally.

Yes, I posted on this elsewhere - an area of black/dark grey where the sea should be.

It's a good job too as I got 2 engine stalls (and a faulty door) all during a single run from Exeter St. Davids to Paignton....

Unless DTG patch this fast I'm just going to turn the feature off - at the current frequency it kills immersion rather than adds to it.

Detonator - placed on the track by the crew of the failed train to protect it. I was wondering on the way if they'd model it - still made me jump just like IRL lol. Should be more placed to the rear, didn't take a walk to check though. I must admit I was amused by the signaller's instruction to 'proceed at full speed on the wrong line until you get there' but then again DTG's version of platform staff dispatch involves a single whistle blow once the doors are closed so...

If you ever played BVE back in the day, there was a superb route called Heavy Coal created by a guy called Bruce Kennewell, fictional NSW route. That had a detonator explode under the train inside a tunnel. That really did make me jump, even on subsequent play throughs when you were expecting it.

So kudos to DTG for getting that in the scenario.

I’ve disabled random faults in my settings (and restarted the game etc) but I am still getting random faults. Is this a common/known bug?

Is that on the 150? I disabled them but was still getting stuck doors on the 150. Haven't had any with the 220.

Make sure to toggle the SDO switch on the cab wall panel to enable this feature with the Class 802/1. It's not 100% perfect, however it seems works in most locations.

The performance of most systems will be improved under DX12, but not all (those with a faster CPU and a slower GPU could be worse under DX12). I don't know how the XBox performs, and I don't know if you can turn DX12 off on a PC as easily as you can enable it.

I've got to say I'm incredibly impressed after being so hesitant and sitting on the fence with the Riveria Line...

After watching many of the previews and going through them with a fine tooth comb, I can honestly say the standard is exactly what I expect and more. The Class 802/220/150 all looking smashing bits of kit to accompany it too. The scenary is really eye catching and nice too. So I will be purchasing this tomorrow afternoon with Riveria + 220. Some real eye for detail and effort has gone into this route, and it really shows.

Second to that, I think it is really important on this note to recognise and acknowledge the work Rivet have put into this. It would seem finally, after many years the criticism from the community has been taken onboard and something has changed. I want to reach out and congratulate Rivet on this probably being their best route to date (and I mean that sincerely). I hope this is a new benchmark they are setting, and going forward this is the type of quality we can expect. The staff at Rivet have really pulled together on this one and made a bloody decent route. If this is the quality and standard I can expect going forward, I can say from here onwards the past is 'Water under the bridge' from my behalf. Well done to the team, and this is coming from one of your biggest critics of past work! Keep going and I hope in time you can do a 'Skyhook' and turn the image into something really positive.

I would also like to say I am extremely impressed with this years 'team effort', with team members from different developers coming together to make a single route and all of its cogs work relatively smoothly. AAB studio helping with the 802, Tyler from Rivet creating a fantastic matching timetable, and the work DTG have also done to help out... Going forward this should be the way to do things.

I've mentioned him a few times now, but I really appreciate the work Tyler has done since coming onboard this year and his eye for detail. I really think he has a lot of potential from seeing his work on this and BCC. He is also a very informative and knowledgeable chap to have on streams... Well done fella and as I always say, Rivet owe you a few pints!

Also, last but not least, the Class 220 sounds are pretty darn good given no recording trips could be made. Interestingly the Class 180 and Class 185 use the same type of engines too!

Congratulations on a really good flagship route this year.

Looking forward to getting my hands on it tomorrow.

(Like with any DLC, I know there are a few small bugs at the moment but these are to expected and hopefully ironed out in the next few weeks)

I love this route but this is definitely my biggest gripe when the sea doesn’t load in.

Low tide ? :) Haven’t seen this so far on PC.

But that being said, I too want to put forth my compliments to all the developers for this route.

i thought it where just a few trees clipping through the train cab
it is probably close to 100 trees placed to close to the track
most of it on the northern side of the rails
this was a little bit too many

There is an issue with the Voyager where loading into a save game has the brakes applied. Have overcome this by letting the train come to a stand, put the PBC into minimum brake, wait a few seconds and go back to a throttle position.

Had a stick passenger door on my first 220 drive. Thought it would just be one station but nope, it needed to be closed manually at all 4 stops. Eventually arrived at Plymouth 11 late. I loved it.

Jeez, yeah that would have been too much. It was a novelty jumping out of the cab 4 times, 20 would have been insane.

I would have made an executive decision and taken the train out of service and run it back to the nearest depot. I'm not sure whether you can change the path of a service that's in the timetable.

Yep! On PS5 with two separate IET services and both won’t release the brakes after stopping at Newton Abbot. Sits at 30% and won’t come off. Tried everything just as they did in the stream with the 220 and I can’t get to Plymouth. Think I might leave this route until it gets sorted, more than frustrating as want to enjoy it. How does this not get picked up in beta testing?!!

Can’t get this to work on an IET and wasn’t even into a saved game. Tried several times. Brakes just won’t release.

To quote Matt Peddleton ‘That’s not good, you shouldn’t have to come out of a run to solve a problem’ (paraphrased). I hope he tore a strip off someone because it made him look stupid and it’s not acceptable having laid £30 for the DLC. Things like this should be sorted. Don’t want to default to the Rivet bashing but….. and don’t get me started on continual display bugs in the PS5 UI. Option info only appears when you move down the list. It disappears when you move up! The filters for searching still don’t work after breaking half way through TSW5. Seriously! This is basic stuff!

Just tried spawning in an IET to get past Newton Abbot to drive the rest of the route. Brakes now release but no power! Unbelievable, but unfortunately not

Just did a run with the HST now we have access to all our content on console. It felt so good having a good, long run in one and not something that ends in half an hour

Thanks for that idea. That’s what I’m about to do now I have content as the 802 and Voyager clearly have a major brake issue on PS5.Not good, patch and make it quick!

Because changing to dx12 does literally nothing and in most games, especially those based on older engines like ue4 it ends up performing worse on most hardware.

Not to mention that in regards to consoles, dx12 does LITERALLY nothing, as the api is heavily customised for the hardware anyway.

As for the rest of your flippant response, I welcome any change to the core that is productive but I'm not going to appease viewpoints that amount to 'bigger number must be better'.

Development time should be spent on changes that make a difference, lord knows the gaming development scene at the moment has a severe case of forgoing stability and performance in favour of whatever trending graphical feature investors are pushing!

    WRT Cucumber brake release issues...

I just had a similar issue after being slow to cancel an AWS warning approaching Totnes (at least partly due to sluggish keyboard). I tried the usual trick of putting brake in emergency and direction switch to off, also pressing the brake release on the TPWS panel. All to no avail...

In the end the only way around it was to isolate the AWS, master switch off and back on again and the brakes came off.

Didn’t think of turning the AWS off and back on again but did everything else. Shouldn’t have too! Guess what got me passed Newton Abbot at a third attempt? An HST. Sticking with it until this unacceptable issue on release gets sorted…..anyone experienced the same with the 150? Or all good there? All issues on PS5, including the awful grainy texture to close reflections in the gloss of the GWR green. Keeps distracting me. Like the announcements though, great touch.
