You can't. The coupler locks sure but the brake systems don't connect, because the 37/7 is configured for Electrostars only. It's the same story with the 700 and 710, you can couple it and it locks into place but the brakes won't work. You can also couple those units to each other for the same results.

When it was released for TSW3 this may have been okay. Now with free roam I will say the loco needs an update to make it fully compatable with a lot more Dellner equipped units as per reality. They also need to fix the coupler's dodgy hitbox which prevents it from being coupled to any loco hauled coaches which feature the buckeye couplers, or in other words all UK coaches. Ultimately as it stands the 37/7 is good for being a modern refit of the 37 itself, but as a loco pack it is fundamentally bad. Good thing it's dirt cheap.

    So it works
    Engine off
    Master key in
    Reverser forward
And power notch one to release breaks
Best to double head the 37 to give better braking but it works and stopping distance isn't too bad. About a lap of the metro circle on training centre braking from 60mph

Managed to get it to work
Also it's possible to couple the class 700 with a 37.
Just got to put it in forward gear and brakes off Double head it for better braking or put a 375 in between to act as a brake unit

I managed to get my car with a broken engine to work by towing it with another car.

Yes it works, the train moves, but the underlying system still isn't there and adding loads of extra steps or buffer units doesn't change that. The patch is still needed. Good that you managed to get it moving in one way or another though. Also if you want another bit of interesting formations in this regard, the 37's ECU brake system does actually get triggered when the 37 is cut out and being towed by another unit. There actually is a timetable run on SEHS where you run a unit drag with a 47 pulling a 37/7 pulling a 375, so maybe try out towing it with another different loco.
