After every new release, we get bugs and updates etc. l cannot play TSW 6 this morning as it has a 25gb update which on my slow internet will take most of the day to install. Every year we have this nightmare of having to install all our owned products, which will take me the best part of this month. Why don’t DTG just concentrate getting TSW 6 working well and then issue an annual route collection like they do with TSC. In a few years time we will all be fed up of having to continually reinstall all our content, with every new issue.
Because it all comes down to money hence that's why the release a new game every year. I have had nothing but problems with tsw5, them at dovetail will only do the patches for the tsw when they see fit and how many as complainted about the game. There is issues in tsw5 that as never been fixed like missing trains, mainline being out of line all been told to dovetail but they couldn't be bothered to fix them, it will be the same for tsw6 there will be issues with the routes or trains but they will get swepted aside like everything else. Thankfully I learned the hard way and my tsw5 had got corrupted files on it so it won't play. But when I use to load tsw5 back on my ps5 it would load 425gb. Which is tsw4 and tsw5 together. So I will never play any dovetail games ever again.
Because new features and routes. You get 3 new routes with every new edition. Each route is roughly £25-£30 Its not viable for them to give them away as part of a free update
Maybe I should connect to fast internet? With a not-so-fast 250 Mbps speed, I downloaded 33 GB in less than 15 minutes. It's almost 2026, so why bother using the internet with at the speed of the early 2000s?
Internet speeds are often outside of user control to be fair, my area’s fastest speed was 76mbps until earlier this year. Thankfully I’m now on gigabit broadband so it only takes about 15 minutes to get my 300gb of DLC installed.
Back then, 1 Mbit seemed like a very fast internet connection... Having moved to my house in another city, I was surprised that in my suburb of 100 houses there are as many as 3 Internet providers offering Internet connection via fiber optic cable. True, the provider with the highest available speed of 1 Gbps didn't have any free ports in the equipment closest to me. But when I lived in an apartment and couldn't afford it Connect to a decent wired internet connection—I used a 4G router. Sometimes the speed reached 150 Mbps (poor signal strength), but usually it stayed around 50 Mbps. It cost $50. I didn't pay anything for the plan because I was using an unnecessary SIM card from my family plan for 5 numbers. I would understand the author's pain, but I've been in a similar situation myself and resolved it. This happened when I received Internet through a 4G router.
It’s irritating, but it’s not a deal breaker for me. I’ll just slowly redownload my old DLC over time as I get the urge to play one of the routes. Fully occupied with the Riviera line right now though
I think you are missing the point. No one is saying give away routes every year. What is being said is that go back to the naming convention of the past when we went from TSW2 to TSW2 Rush Hour which came in the form of an update. So the switch to numbers was only because some marketing numpty thought numbers were better than names. However this new system is going to fail soon anyhow as in ten years, no one is going to be fooled into thinking that TSW 16 is a massive improvement from TSW 15 as people will know it's just a naming gimmick So in future, they will switch to either names or go back to going by years anyway so just get it over
It all depends on where you live. If your in America and in a major city you shouldn't have an issue with high speed Internet. If your in the sticks then your options are limited as fibre optic cable is expensive to roll out. Same in the UK. I get around 1gbps in a city which is decent. But we still lack behind other European countries. Id recommend a 5g router if your area supports it or starlight if its available
Tbf fifa have done this for years. If there's a market for games people will ultimately buy them. I get what your saying but as ive played tsw on game pass for the past few years anyway having to buy this year's version wasn't the end of the world. Although it would have been nice for it to be on gamepass.
A question for the devs hear.So Ive recently bought tsw 6.Downloaded it last night with all the previous dlc’s which I have, only to go on the game and the majority of services in timetable mode have not been completed even though I clocked around 1,500 miles on wcml south for example in tsw5 (1,500 miles = 0 services completed apparently). So I’m just wondering, will there be a patch to get all my completed service runs or not as I’m basically having to start all over again!!!!!! p.s it’s other routes this has happened too not just wcml (ps5)
I think more so this year as the whole interface and experience just looks like TSW5, even down to the poor grammar in some of the identical tips from 5 as your run loads. Apart from the announcements (which I hasten to add were in OMSI 2 years ago) and random faults which have now hopefully been tamed, plus the new routes, there’s nothing that stands out when driving that says you’re playing a new game. Basically a marketing fudge and I particularly love the way on the PS5 store you have to ferret around in a sub menu on the shop screen to find the free starter pack and not end up paying £45 for the standard version.
It’s the DLC part that annoys me the most. I’ve just started to download the ones that are really enjoyful to me. The game loads faster too. I do hope one day they find a way around this though. Same thing with the GB all the DLC takes up. If your wanting every DLC installed at once it’s going to get to the point your going to have to spend more money on a bigger hard drive as on consoles your given a small amount of space which I’ve always found ridiculous. Especially with the size games take up nowadays. I don’t think very much can be done with this one. Sony and Microsoft should just release a hard drive specifically for games like TSW that are 99% built on DLC.
It took me over 4 (nearly 5) hours yesterday to redownload all my dlc. They don't need to be releasing a new version every year, as they can't be making no extra money now that they're offering the free starter pack. TSW6 is TSW5 with different UI colours and a couple of new features none of the bugs that were in TSW5 got fixed, the schedule not renewing to the new service is one of them... They seriously need to start doing the game like TSC, where it would get a yearly core update and then continue selling dlcs as normal. The excuse of we can't find an easier way to do it is a lie, there's plenty of games out there (that are on console by the way) that get major updates to the base game over years, Cities Skylines is one of them off the top of my head! Also they need to bring back the preservation crew so the back catalog of older locos and routes can start getting the newer features like suspension, rain/snow textures, TOD4 upgrades, announcements & faults etc
You can do it yourself. Just buy a suitable SSD of the required capacity and install it as an additional one.
I'm pretty well pleased except that RailDriver doesn't work, the stuttering and bad shadows and shimmering fences and ceilings are still there, and the glitchy passengers.
I have an internet connection via fiber optic cable. A 5G router is a great solution if fiber optic internet isn't an option. I don't see any problems with using this option. Just... Only if you live in the wilderness without communication.
When they released the rush hour summer update they released 3 routes, new features and updated the game basically identical to this but without redownloading everything. We're not expecting them to give away free routes
Every year I kid myself they'll improve the Scenario planner and every year they let us down. Haven't looked at it for TSW6 but going by lack of posts on the subject I know it'll be the same pile of you-know-what we've had for what feels like forever. They say they listen to our feedback, if they do, they just ignore it.
Spend over 8 hours installing my stuff again and it didn’t even make all the way through my uk addons and also what’s the damn reason why we console players can’t download our collection during early access and to add why 4pm and not the second it hits midnight
Yes, Rush Hour should be the model for the annual mgr. Truth is, though, we can complain 'til we're blue in the face, but, as long as we all acquiesce in this wholly unnecessary imposition every year, those complaints will go right over DTG's head into the circular file. The poster who said in his/her " love letter " recently that DTG is listening to the community is living in an alternate universe.
TSW5's menu is also the same as 4's, and I'm pretty sure that 4 was a copy of 3's. Innovation is clearly a non-existent word in DTG's lexicon it seems...
Yeah it is, I loaded up the game for the first time today and it immediately just felt like I had loaded into TSW5 or 4 with a big 6 slapped in the corner instead. It would have at least been appreciated if they had bothered to change the icon images or loading screens. Like, the Azuma came out 2 years ago now and yet it is the first thing I see when loading the game.
In my experience this is normal. The previous version of TSW that you played your timetabled runs on will still retain the list of completed services, so you can continue to work on completing them all if you load up the previous version of the game, but you'll need to start from scratch on TSW6. For this reason I've left previous versions of TSW installed and sometimes go back to them, both to wrap up achievements and to work on the timetables and cross off the services.
Even I was surprised to see the TSW5 loading screens when starting up TSW6... Clearly just a rehash of 5 which is a rehash of 4 only difference is it has some new UI colours lol
Quelle surprise! (Sarcasm mode) Having done the stupid, long pointless download of DLC, gone into Scenario Planner and same old tosh. Never change, DTG, never change...
