[below Min Spec] Regretting Tsw6 Already

Just got TSW6 For my birthday, crashed when I changed my graphics, Crashed when I blew the horn and I move the loco and oh my days I then have ran out of "Video Memory" i swear the game runs the same specs as TSW5 (WHEN ON THE "LOW" GRAPHICS SETTING) if so why is it messing with my laptop, I'm running (trying to run) on the same graphics that i used on TSW5, Doubt I can get a refund for the 42 quid I spent, Was well looking forward to the riviera line and sending a HST at god knows what speed but alas this will not be the case. Probably will have to speed £1000 on a new laptop for the 4th time, however if anyone knows a simple fix please let me know. Thanks

 

I don't know but wouldn't clearing up your storage space and removing un used DLCs help?

This is part of why I tend to drop £2500-3000 on a laptop when I get one and then they don't need replacing as often. That of course requires saving up several hundred a year and not having to drop it on emergencies though.

 

Why not spend money on a desktop instead? And have a cheap laptop for office stuff?

 

In my case because I need a PC that's powerful for all my general uses but also not tied to a specific location and I can toss in a backpack at a moment's notice to rush off somewhere. I can often be gaming on a train or in a hotel room. A laptop fits the bill best for my individual needs. I even have docks for it in multiple rooms at home, so I am covered if someone sleeps over or if upstairs' kids are being noisy in the living room when I want to do some audio editing. Or if I am just bedbound with a bad case of the lurgy.

Everyone's situation is going to differ as to what fits their budget and needs best.

That looks like an incredibly generous estimate of just how low the low end of what can run TSW gets, to me...

 

With such system you need to lower soo many settings that you might as well use TSC, which would look much better (and has more features)

 

I remember getting CP77 to run on a laptop RX 560, and managing to crank a very unstable 60fps out of it.

Is an exchange something that can be done, as I would of liked to of had Cardif City & that route with the 378, if not idk

 

It'll work, albeit very poorly, but will be guzzling up your primary memory pool and that will eventually run out, at which point those crashes are occuring because there's not enough memory to go around between dedicated video memory and your system memory.

 

I wonder, is ram much different to VRAM as i can get more RAM

 

Yes, dedicated video memory is explicitly set up for efficient usage by the GPU it is part of, for use in graphics rendering. Using regular memory the way integrated graphics will do, is basically like jousting using a supermarket trolley because you don't have a horse. You can approximate the functions, but it's not as suited to it, and it's going to be a lot slower.

 

DTG-Chris Just applied for refund, on steam that is. Will it be accepted?

 

DTG can't tell you if Steam will refund. DTG don't have any say in it.

Generally if you've played for less than 2 hours, Steam will automatically refund. After that they will likely refuse. However you can then raise a support ticket and tell them you made a mistake on the minimum spec and you might be lucky.

You'll find out soon, Steam normally process refunds within half a day in my experience.
