As colleague Roskud said, you need to turn the Air Compressor to the ON position, then it will work.....

Do think this loco and its timetables/scenarios needs a slight rework to start with the loco in a better state of preparation. The release feature also needs to have an on/off toggle same as PZB and SIFA.

Am i the only one that noticed that this Fan is never spinning? Not at Startup and neither under full Throttle. I think its a bug pls fix this.

But aside from this its a really well made locomotive.

I like the loco, but encountered a following problem, partially already reported here. It was BR 294 service EZK (53387), not sure if it's more of a timetable/addon problem or a route/signalling problem, so I report it in both places, I hope you do not mind.

After I ran around my train in Weißig, when I was about to depart for the main line from the siding, I got only a shunting signal for that. I might be wrong, but I think it is not correct, I would only be allowed to shunt near the station, but for actually leaving it seems to be wrong. Moreover, entire ride to Riesa was conducted on Erzsatzsignale, which forced me to slow down to 25 km/h at every signal due to active 500 Hz magnets (U-mode PZB, but even at M-mode it would require slowing down to 35). Perhaps that's intentional, but quite annoying, as the train is perfectly capable of going at 80 km/h. I still got my platinum for that, but it seemed frustrating.

One more thing, which is more general, but also more noticeable on loco like this, which has somewhat unusual controls. If you can't do a full manual (those were the days, where game manuals were a business standard...), then at least please provide a quick reference sheet for key bindings. I figured out some (like slow speed) by trial and error, but I still have not found a combination for traction lock/brake release switch, and have to do it with mouse every time, which is problematic at night.

    All this on PC/Steam.

OK, I caved in and got the Free Starter Pack, as well as the 294.

Regarding the 294: This one is a ton of fun! Driving it properly takes skill and will take some time to learn (for me).
Switching from the 363 to the 294 feels a lot like switching from the 110 to the 111 :)
Overall, a pretty well made loco and a good addition to the roster

One thing which I would like to point out negatively is that it doesn't sub in for the 363 and 204 on Maintalbahn and Main-Spessart for some weird reason, which is quite a shame. I was especially looking forward to do services on those routes with the 294.

marvin#4023 I also noticed the fan not spinning, ever.

One slight criticism of the 294 is that the track running sounds seem on the light side. Even when the engine is idling there’s not much there including going through points and crossings hardly any clatter at all.

Agreed, track noise is too quiet. Barely audible in the cab and even when the window is open and/or you're leaning out of it. Could be a bit louder.

By the way, if anyone wants to get a good showcase of the 294's abilities and doesn't own the Dresden-Leipzig route, I can recommend service EZK 53663 on Bremen-Oldenburg. I chose it as my first full 294 service and had a ton of fun with it :D

Perhaps it's my lack of understanding (and absence of manual), but I can't restart engine once shut down, tried using the buttons and switch on the desk in different combinations, but nothing seems to work. Maybe it's some prerequisite I'm not aware of?

Edit: it's a petty detail, but the driving distance reward kicks in after 36.3 km, judging by the general principle, it should be rather 29.4 km, shouldn't it?

Don't worry, it will probably give you that same distance award several times over!

It seems that sometimes you just have to try the engine switch a couple of times, until it works. Set it to "0" first, then hold it at "Start" for a while until the engine is running.

Another thing: I already mentioned that I'm disappointed because the 294 doesn't appear on Maintalbahn and Main-Spessart. But it's equally sad that it also doesn't sub in on S-Bahn Frankfurt, since the 363 is also very much pushing its limits with some of the services there :|

    Thank you!

Really liking this train! My only wish is that the PZB indicator was a little brighter.

Yes indeed, there's a little button on the indicator box itself. Doesn't help much, but they can get a bit brighter.

That's odd, they work fine for me. Which platform are you playing on? I'm on PC/Steam.

On PS sounds of safety systems are by default played through the speaker on your controller.
You can turn it off in the settings. Then sounds will be played normally.

    PS5

This is another loco that has bad digital audio loop artefacts (clicks) on the engine/running audio. A click every couple of seconds when taking power as the audio loop repeats. EDIT - the clicks happen once power reaches around 40% and are loud and clear at this power level but then get quieter or disappear by the time full power is applied.

It seems to be a standard feature of the new trains for TSW6 as they all have some clicking audio in looped running sounds/engine sounds. It never used to be this bad. There have been the occasional locos that had this over the years but in TSW6 it’s pretty much every one. The trains from older DLC that appear as layers/substitutions in the new routes don’t have this issue.

Hmm, I can't hear those clicks, no matter how hard I listen... to me, the audio seems fine.

I’ll have another play with it when I get time and see if I can recreate under what conditions I was getting the clicks but they were definitely the same kind of looping artefacts I’ve experienced on other trains. They weren’t subtle either. I can’t get to the PS5 just now.

I’ve had another look as promised and the audio looping clicking issue is there loud and clear, and is most evident when the loco power is at around 40%. I’m guessing players who always use full power will not notice it as the bad looping sound just gets drowned out or disappears at full power but it is very noticeable when using a medium level of power. It doesn’t happen at all below 30% power either as far as I can tell but once up to around 40% the clicks start happening.

Hope this wasn't aimed at me, I've got a very material-conscious driving style... most times ;)

I did some tests and still can't hear any clicking, at any RPM range. How much RPM does the Drehzahl indicator show when the clicking appears?

There is no gauge per se, but there are these three little round windows right at the tank itself:
They are not functional though. If I recall correctly, diesel locos won't run out of fuel in TSW.

I don’t know what or where that is but it starts when the HUD shows 4 in the power field (normal HUD).

I just want to check you are on PS5 because this will be a Playstation exclusive bug. These looping artefacts aren’t present on PC whenever they appear.

I really like this loco but pzb helper doesn't work on xbox (i kinda need it for accessibility reasons) and the audio pop every 8 seconds is a bit annoying. i tried getting past the helper not working but the display in the cab is too dim when set to 100%. I am not exactly of the max speeds i need to be at for this loco.

I'm on a PS5 Pro and last week the sound suddenly stopped cracking for me, etc... the only thing I tried was 3D sound, I've never used it at all, I tried activating it, I didn't like it as such, so we deactivated it again, I don't know if that solved the problem, but I've been quiet for a week now

Exactly, the red Sifa switch and the PZB fuse in the box, that's it. :)
If it's still telling you to turn PZB on after that, it's probably a bug... I had no problems with it so far.

Ive notice its not just isolated to the shunter but the 411 and 101 does not have the helper showing for me as well. Im starting to wonder if its a core game issue now.
Edit didnt realize there is an actual brake handle you insert on the seat side.
Also the emergency brake release does not work via controller when in the passenger side seat

But they indeed consuming fuel. At usual game play you will never have such loooong sessions to run out of hundreds of Liters of fuel.

Really? OK, didn't know that! :o
I guess the fuel level does start at 100% upon spawning then? And does fuel consumption change the overall weight of the loco?
