Well, shouldn't really be surprised but blurry textures are still and issue on PS5. Just 10 minutes in to to running Mildmay after downloading all UK content and the textures turn into a complete mess Well now we know that DTG avoiding all the questions regarding this issue was so it didn't hurt sales and Matt's saying on one of the streams that 'we are seeing good results in testing' was just another lie This is getting beyond a joke now
Not a surprise, Matt did say old content wasn't going to get updates. Practically means all the routes that had blurry textures before will be plagued by it forever. Edit: It's not fixed at all, you're all right. I was hoping it was but it's not. Enabled all the layers on Leipzig - Dresden and the blurriness is very much there. All around the route kind of like Frankfurt - Fulda. I don't expect this to ever be fixed though at this point.
He didn’t actually say that did he. Matt said, on the riviera stream that they are dealing with memory outages and crashes first to get the game stable and then they will start looking at solving the blurriness.
Unfortunately, I have the same problem on my Xbox. It's pretty frustrating. I've noticed that the more layers are enabled, the more likely the problem is to occur. Naturally, you want to enable as many as possible to increase the variety. It's a shame. :/
When they said it would be patched with the release of tsw6... Glad I didn't purchase anything this year and just got the free starter pack to see if this was fixed.
Just edited my previous post as the blurriness is still there at least on Leipzig - Dresden. If you've found it in any other of the three new routes I would like if you let me know.
I posted another thread about the blurry textures on Xbox. It is so sad that they are not able to solve this problem since the release of TSW5.
Yep, it's just happened to me on the new version of Dresden. Not seen it as yet on the other two new routes
There is also considerable blurry graphics on other routes. For example, Würzburg - Kassel on the 101 and Cab Expert routes, and still partly on Fulda - Frankfurt. All on the PS5.
OK so starting to wonder if high speed trains running as AI could be one of, if not the actual cause of this issue So have been doing some testing on Mildmay, running the same service mostly (and weather). I am on PS5 pro The first test I had 19 layers out of 28 turned on and thought all HST's were off but right over the ECML track I noticed a LNER. Pretty much straight soon after the textures went blurry 2nd test had 23 out of 28 turned on but this time LNER was off and for the 1st time ever completed the route without textures failing. 3rd test tried it with WCML and the Avanti turned on and again it failed (though strangely again over top of ECML track again, so seems to be a pinch point) 4th test went to a service running in opposite direction around same time with layers set to same as 2nd test and again it completed successfully (for info ECML, Southeastern, MML, WCML Avanti and WCML LNR were off). Last one was off by mistake so will try again with it on at some point) Reason I think it's high speed related instead of timetable related was just tried Franfurt to Fulda and guess what happened when an ICET went flying past me 20 minutes out of Franfurt... go on guess...
I'm not sure about that. I mean, of course high speed trains passing by are going to take up a lot of memory space, meaning blurry textures. But for example for the Frankfurt one, I don't think that's the reason. Because for me blurry textures always happen when going out of Frankfurt, most of the time whilst passing the yard at Offenbach Ost. It's too consistent for high speed trains to be the cause. I suggest you try and see what happens if you do Fulda to Frankfurt instead, just to see what happens.
Also blurry textures behave in unpredictable ways sometimes. Because there are so many factors that can cause them and this game is optimized horribly. I also believe that ICE-T, LNER Azuma and German Freight Cars (especially tankers for some reason) seem to be the trains that take up the most memory, causing blurry textures when you pass by them.
I don't really understand the texture bug. Yesterday I rode a new American route from Hoboken station. The station was full of trains, I met other trains on my way and the textures were fine. My next trip to Leipzig, Germany, the station was empty, there were two trains on the way and the textures were blurry. My theory is that more types of locomotives take up more memory than one type of locomotive on the entire train route. Also, why does the game load trains 60km away from me into memory?
And yes, as you mentioned there are some "pinch points", I noticed that too. Especially on Mildmay and Frankfurt - Fulda for sure, and there may be some others that I don't remember.
Yes, the reason why you get them on Leipzig - Dresden and not on Morristown is because of the amount of layers and substitution. It's the same for me. As for why it happens... Well, it's because the game is horribly optimized, as I said. That's the only reasonable explanation.
Yes, that could work, and it's what they did with the Frankfurt S-Bahn. Sure enough, that route doesn't have blurry textures but it wasn't received well by the community, me included, because it feels deserted with just 4 types of trains when on PC there are probably around 50 like on Leipzig - Dresden or Frankfurt - Fulda.
But if you want, you can always try disabling some of the layers from the layers selector on the top right. I don't guarantee the situation will improve at all, but you can try...
It is also possible that the game does not know how to free up memory. It fills up the memory and the game engine starts to stutter. Because when I start the game in Frankfurt at the train station, the textures are sharp. Only after some time do they become blurry and that is a result of lack of memory.
I'm not sure about the technical details, but you're right there as well. Blurry textures never happen from the start of a service, only after a while of driving...
