I presume progress will carry over from original timetable?

Both timetables will be available and considering it is a timetable overhaul, the services wouldn't really match up

Much like in the Bakerloo Line, the original timetable will be there and you can always continue there but the new timetable won't have any of that progress.

The station and train announcements on the Riviera line are superb, really hope this can make its way on to the GWE remaster!

Any semblance of an idea when this may be out? It’s looking like an absolutely incredible upgrade.

Liam's aiming to have it out before Christmas, but I'm sure everyone will be happy to wait if it means the remaster is not rushed.

Liam if you see this. I was just wondering if we could get clarification on the FGW livery.

As I understand it, you’ve previously stated that they would be appearing unbranded, has that changed now that the licence is back? Or does the licence only cover GWR green branding?

I believe they've explained that the FGW logos are a separate license to GWR

That was what I thought but Liam has a screenshot on his profile of the WIP remaster with a 166 in the background with what looks like branding on the front.

This could’ve just been reusing current in-game branded model of the 166 for a nice screenshot but idk.

    IMG_4947.jpeg

My image is low quality but take a look for yourself on his profile

Can confirm there is no FGW branding in any pics or the remaster.

You're just seeing things. It lookslike there's an all pink First logo on the front but I think it's just the light/compression. Look along the side and it's plain blue. First logo would've been white anyway.

AIUI, right from the release of GWE, First Group put the kibosh on the blue livery; I suppose they wanted to push the then-new green. It appears this came up late in development, since notoriously the blue liveries with matching interiors were created by DTG and remained hidden in the game files until IIRC TSW3

Pretty sure in tsw5, not sure about 6, you could spawn in a single end coach of a FGW 166, branding included

You could with a mod. The original mod just unlocked the files that were already there; for later versions it "borrowed" the old TSW 2020 files.

Forgive my ignorance since I haven't been following this thread but now that we have the GWR IET in the game I was wondering if the route is still pre-electrification?

If not I would love to see an eventual modern take on the route that extends it out and electrifies it to give the 802 some stretch  .

The era of the route hasn't changed so it isn't electrified (not the whole way anyway). I believe there's a test run service playable with the 802, though

That's right. There are a handful of test runs you can drive with the Class 802 up and down the GWML between Paddington and Reading. Makes for an interesting and fun run, with all the traffic about.

They're referring to using it in Free Roam. I can confirm that I on PS5, so definitely no mods in the picture, can spawn in a cab end of the FGW 166. You can actually couple two together back to back since the central couplers do lock and the units interract correctly, so you can basically make and drive a FGW 165. Also it interestingly still uses the TSW2020 hud, the FGW HST doesn't do this.

Remember that class 166 is not and will not be compatible with livery designer, so repainting it won't be the case.

Can't remember if DTG Liam answered this one but now we have a Night Riviera layer on Exeter-Plymouth, will we get the same between Paddington and Reading when the remaster comes out?

At Reading you would potentially also have shunting and ECS moves for it. I remember when I lived in Slough travelling to work early I would occasionally see it being moved back to Reading after finishing the overnight service to Paddington.

I will say that as excited as I am for this route, I really hope it doesn't prevent the possibility of another expanded route into Paddington being made in the future.

I'd pay good money to have a truly modern iteration of the GWML out to Swindon and/ or Oxford, with a full timetable for the 800/802 and 387s, and with the new Elizabeth line branded stations.

I would even say that seeing as Reading to Paddington is already in the game, Bristol isn't THAT much further on from Swindon. It would undoubtedly be DTGs most ambitious project, but I refuse to believe it's outside the realm of possibility. I think we can all agree DTG should aim to be more ambitious.

Bristol to paddington would be very cool. you never know Liam is doing his own stuff now. he may (wishes hopefully) like to take on that challenge. I would certainly pay for it.

Will My PS4 have a limited timetable and services? What add ons will I need for the full timetable?

At this stage, as difficult as it may be, to experience the full potential for this route, you'll need a PS5.

No amount of add ons will make a difference as long as you’re still on ps4

Without going into too much detail, I think its best to expect that you aren't going to have the same, fully fledged out timetable and layers, compared to Gen 9 and PC.

Gen 8 is on its last legs now, and I highly recommend to upgrade to a newer system as soon as possible, to get the most out of Train Sim World and its routes.

I see a lot of posts exhorting 8th gen players to upgrade to 9th gen or even PC, but the truth is that those who can afford to upgrade have probably already done so, given the limitations of TSW5.

So this constant drum beat to get people to upgrade who may not be able to afford to is a bit cynical. They already know the score.

I know you have the best of intentions, but why not leave them to make the upgrade when they can afford to.

Sometimes I don't think some Gen8 players do know the score...

It is now 12 year old technology, to hold on aslong as it has is impressive, but it's now got to be accepted it is pretty much redundant technology and a few people still need reminding of that fact. The only reason it's held on aslong as it has is because DTG (and quite admirably) saw how the recession was hitting people's pockets and give it a bit of an extra life (that's my theory anyway). Now premium prices for Gen9 consoles has come down, I think it's time to call it a day with Gen8. Otherwise I don't think some people will ever leave Gen8 behind if they aren't prodded to.

On the topic of the GWE Remaster, if the expectation of it coming out before Christmas is still on the cards, that means we are around just over 8 weeks away!

Perhaps my pov is colored by my childhood and teenage memories of well meaning and hard working parents who simply could not afford expensive Christmas or Birthday gifts for their kids.

And my after school job at the local grocery store was not enough either.

Too many middle class opinions on the forum methinks.

It’s not really worth going to Gen9 for the sake of TSW anyway. You may well have access to the layers but running them is going to turn the graphics to mush anyway, with the current texture issue.

    Hey guys
With the curent steam autumn sales I'm considering buying the GWR DLC.
However despite my searches I couldn't be able to find out if this remaster was out or not or if it had a release date (or an estimation).
Could you please tell me ?
    Thanks !

Just to add to that; even though the remaster is yet to release, if it's on discount, you may as well buy it now and then you'll get the remaster when it does release

Okay so if I buy it now, I'll get the Class 387 and scenery/sounds improvements for free?
No new branch or anything though?
    Thanks :)

You'll get the new scenery, TOD4, Conductor Mode, and timetable, but the 387 and other new rolling stock is layered in from other DLC.

If you get GWE now, you will get a GWR HST, GWR 166 and a DB Cargo Class 66, these will come with improvements and sounds, the route scenery and TOD4 upgrades when the Remaster is released.

You will need the London Commuter add-on to access the Class 387, but those services won't go all the way to Reading, as it's set prior to the electrification being completed. Again these won't activate until the remaster is released.

The closest to a new branch is access to the Underground line out of Paddington to Westbourne Park, but those services will require the Class 484 add on.

London Commuter is 90% off at the moment too on Steam if you do want the 387 once the remaster is
    out.

Liam, good afternoon! I didn't find any mention of this topic and would like to clarify one question: will the 387 and 484 class not support the new suspension feature?

That. and the fact the 387s are the Heathrow Express, which only go as far as Airport Junction anyway

I believe the plan is to have some of the GWR 387s work the Hayes and Harlington shuttle services too, although I have no timeframe as to when this will be done.

Are the 387's unbranded? I thought this could've been branded but I'm assuming with licensing they may have to ask again for another separate train?
It does have the forest green GWR livery in some screenshots I've viewed, but with no logo's I'd just thought I'd find out about this as we already the GWR it would make sense to have that in GWR livery anyways.... Or modders are going to make an "Official-looking" version.

For the people who do not own this route and are playing on Xbox, the TSW5 version of this route is now on sale in the Xbox store for EUR 8,99 or 7,49 pounds.
