Just lost a diesel engine on the Voyager 220 in Journey mode, I was informed of this in-game, yet nothing told me how to restore power to it by restarting it.

    Thanks game...

The prompts don't tell you how to fix it, just what the fault is.
On the 220 you can just press and hold the engine start button for a few seconds and it will fix it.

DTG Alex DTG Harry DTG Matt Is the fact that prompts for fixing train faults not showing being looked into?

It's a potentially game breaking bug after all!

The fact that it doesn't tell you how to fix them, the fact that they show up way too frequently even when the frequency is set to low, tsr signs spawning backwards or inside of another object and some trains not having them at all (802 for example) make me wonder why they shipped the game when it's big selling point over the previous version isn't even finished

Exactly my thoughts. The faults and random events have been praised as THE defining and exciting new features of TSW6 beforehand, and now they feel more like a half-baked last minute addition. A couple more weeks of development wouldn't have hurt, but I guess hitting a self-imposed deadline was more important...

And when I think of DTG's track record in regards to maintaining and updating existing content, I bet we'll never gonna see any faults or events coming to older existing routes/locos at all anyway :(

You advertised the game as having prompts to help you get on your way, this isn't the case, which falls under false advertising.

I shouldn't have to pause my game and refer to an online guide in order to continue playing!

The only prompts we had in pre-release materials were the notifications telling you a fault had occurred. Sorry to hear you were expecting something different, but happy to feedback if you think this would be helpful.

I think it would be handy, especially for those wanting to remain immersed in the game, to just have a toggle option so that the game leads you through fixing the fault, in the same way that the tutorials do for setting up the train for example.

Once you're comfortable in the procedures, you could then turn them off for a less hand holdy approach.

Have you checked to make sure you've enabled them?

In fairness, unless I'm imagining things, I thought that it was explicitly mentioned in the Dovetail Direct stream that there would be prompts on how to fix issues and also there would be details about temporary speed restrictions when starting a service.

What do you mean "Sorry to hear you were expecting something different?" He literally posted an image of what you advertise and isn't present!

This isn't even a game feature that I care about at all, but how can you lie in front of evidence, and try to shift the blame onto a customer's wrong expectations? It's even still on the website as we speak!

    I swear, this company...

Not to mention that as anthonyruk says, it was specifically mentioned in the Dovetail Direct by DTG Matt I believe, that you needn't worry about becoming stuck due to faults, as in-game prompts will guide you through continuing your journey.

Quote: "And we'll teach you how to deal with it as well. So whenever a pop-up happens we'll pop something up and say here's how you deal with it, here's what you've got to do"

This is quite literally not in the game!

At most it tells you what has gone wrong, but not how to deal with it, it's like you've implemented only 50% of the advertised feature, realised you needed to rush the game out, shrugged your shoulders, and just gone "Yeah, that'll do, let them figure it out!"

DTG Alex DTG Harry DTG Matt, this is not the case, so what is going on here?

Hi there. I can take a look at this when everyone is in on Monday, but I know that train faults are currently being looked at. We do have a list of how to fix them on our support section until we've correctly configured what's going on with faults. Some users have reported seeing them too often, some have reported not seeing them at all - so they're currently undergoing some 'tweaking' to make sure they're balanced and that players have the information needed to complete them when they do pop up.

Can I just check what pops up when you have a train fault?

A message on screen telling me what the fault is, nothing else.

So you don't have something that says (for example) 'One of the Diesel Engines has stalled. It will need restarting'?

All you get is what is wrong, such as on the Voyager 220:

    Random Fault

One of the Diesel Engines has stalled. It will need restarting.

Then nothing else, until it is fixed.

I'm trying to find info on our previous livestreams/our random fault video to confirm that this is a bug, or if this is feedback on wanting the prompts to be clearer.

Seems like it tells you what needs doing, but not how to do it.

This appears to be the fundamental miscommunication here, as players are used to getting prompts which guide them through the process of doing something when a novel thing pops up. Perhaps there could be some kind of thing where there's an on/off toggle for fault tutorials with step by step walkthroughs, that can be disabled once a player is comfortable with the possible faults on a given loco?

It's good feedback! I can let the team know it could do with being much clearer.

It's ironic, really. DTG spent years simplifying the game so as to remove a bunch of the cold starts from newer stuff, only to then drop on players used to newer iterations of the game, a system which requires you to know how to restart an engine.

As per my quote, Matt stated in the direct that the game would use prompts to tell you how to fix the faults.

This isn't false expectation on the player's part, as Chris seemed to be implying earlier, but quite literally what was sold to us during the reveal of TSW6, so I hope that you can understand the confusion when said feature is not in the final product.

We made sure to show faults on a feature video prior to release. However, I can understand why there would be some confusion between the Direct to now if you'd missed what we'd shown since then, so I can raise this issue with the rest of the team on Monday.

    Yes, that's all I get.

Had it on the Voyager, took me a while to both figure out the issue and where the Engine stop and start buttons were

Hi folks - I just wanted to share that since early access, we've had a section available on our Getting Started Guide that helps explain all the available Train Faults, with the necessary steps in order to resolve them.

We're looking at making sure the in-game guidance is also updated to be clear and easy for players to follow too, but in the mean time, if you need any assisstance - we recommend checking out the guide :)
