Some Tsw6 Versions Of Old Routes Need Purchasing Again?

Before I raise a ticket with DTG, the very confusing mess that is multiple versions of routes has lead to some TSW6 Compatible versions needing to be bought again?

The PlayStation Store shows two TSW2 versions of Luzern to have been purchased ("gekocht") by me, the TSW5 version to be free ("gratis") to download, and the TSW6 version costing me € 24,99 again:


It's the same with Hamburg - Lübeck:


And also with Arosalinie.


I won't mention the pain that is:

• Having to redownload everything
• It always starting to download both the PS5 and the PS4 versions
• Me having to manually cancel every single PS4 download, one at a time
• When you try to be smart about it and deciding to choose which version to download ahead of time, instead of clearly naming them e.g. "PS5 version" and "PS4 version", they are listed as "Extra" and... "Extra", so you still don't know which to pick.

Try to buy the TSW5 version as its gratis and after that have a look for the TSW6 version, would be my first try.

If you have installed TSW6 already, go via the additional content menu (on the home screen move to TSW6 and press the options button with the 3 lines), there you can manage your content for the version you have installed without starting both versions to download)

 

Yeah, you need to 'purchase' the free TSW5 version first on playstation. Say you only had the TSW2 version, to get the TSW6 free you'd have to:

1. Purchase the free TSW3 version
2. Purchase the free TSW4 version
3. Purchase the free TSW5 version
4. Purchase the free TSW6 version

In that order. No additional costs, but a pain!

 

It is indeed very confusing. It took me quite some time to figure it out, and the guide of DTG was not helpful at all. In the end, I used the PS app. Go to the add-on section of TSW6, and click on those who are “free” (gratis) to add them to your library. They will appear immediately on your PS as available for download. The stupidity with PS5 and PS4 downloads is unavoidable, I am afraid, until DTG decides to do something about it.

 

For those reading this thread later, the fact that some titles appear to need to be purchased again in TSW6 may be because one did not have them installed under TSW5, as suggested by Nick Y.

 

Hey OP, hope you sorted out your download problems given the excellent replies you got.

This yearly downloading chore is tedious and annoying. Also, now fully expecting the expected traditional release problems and the usual fixes for patches that break things and then need to be fixed and patched yet again is bad enough but in the past I have been instructed to delete and reinstall everything to fix a problem that I did not cause. Given a current installation sized at 163gb, I will be not be happy If that is needed.

I don't think DTG can sort this out, this is a Playstation issue or just the way the Playstation store works. On Xbox this isn't an issue, if you bought one of the versions, you directly own them for all versions of the game (except if you buy the TSW6 version, those are not compatible with older versions of the game anymore). It's the same with the download of two versions for PS4 and PS5, on Xbox you just get the version for your system. So it's time for Sony to solve this issue, not only TSW is affected bij this mess.
