Bring back the warm, nostalgic glow of the past.

This mod replaces the modern white street and yard lighting on the Riviera Line with the classic orange hue of high-pressure sodium lamps — a familiar sight across Britain before the widespread switch to LEDs.

Experience late-night runs bathed in that distinctive amber glow that once defined the UK’s streets and depots.

This mod leaves stations and some of the other types of street lighting their respective white colour, leaving a nice contrast and balance between the two.

Superb. Grabbing now. I take it this works independent of any other mod, though?

LM, Newton Abbot seems to still be the bright white. Other areas are more orangish as would be expected of Na vapor lights.

That’s intentional as I didn’t change any of the station or platform lighting. Only some of the street and depot lighting.

The lighting at Newton Abbot station does look pretty harsh and too bright, however. Although this is something that DTG will have to fix/see to.

    Awesome stuff as usual.

I'm guessing DTG know some of the stations on this route are terribly lit at night. (I know the mod doesn't change this).

Some of the stations have non-functional and/or missing lighting. I believe Torquay is one of those stations. Hopefully this will be fixed in the near future.

Historically when was the lighting modernized here?

It’s been a slow but gradual upgrade to LED over the past 10-15 years, across various places in the U.K. So you get instances of both white LED and the older orange/yellow sodium lighting side by side in real life.

That’s what I left some as white lighting and some as the older yellow lighting, so you get that nice contrast, as well as it fitting nicely around the time period of the route.

Making me nostalgic now, I miss the old sodium lights. They were much easier on the eyes when driving along the road at night and gave this lovely cosy vibe too.

Frankly, I don't know how drivers cope with the new ones. Sitting in the passenger seat, it used to be so much easier to make stuff out when the light was less harsh, now it's like staring into a cheesegrater, the amount of extra concentration it must require I do not envy..

We have the new LED streetlighting in our area and it is pants. They don't light the whole area and because they are so bright, you can barely see pedestrians etc.
They also create a lot of glare on windscreens and if you wear glasses.
I could argue the same about car headlights these days. I have anti-glare coating on my driving glasses and am still often dazzled/blinded by headlights.
