About The proposed section of this network spans approximately 122.71 km (94.27 miles). There would be both passenger and freight and shunting services. This would be a busy network. The passenger lines are as follows Johnsonville Branch Paraparaumu Line (known as the Kāpiti Line as of 2011) Melling branch Hutt Valley Line (shares alignment with Wairarpa connection) Wairarapa Connection Some areas of interest are Wellington Station, Ngaio Gorge / Wadestown area, which would feature tight curves and steep grades and tunnels, Thorndon Yard, a major freight yard, Some of the lines run on the edge of Wellington Harbour, Rimutaka Tunnel (8.8km) Rollingstock (not 100% sure if all run on these sections during this time) DA Class DB Class DE Class DS Class DSB Class DSC Class DG&DH ED Class EW Class DM Class RM Class (88 seater) RM Class (Standard) 50-foot carriage 56-foot carriage
Certainly something different though 122km probably pushing it. Realistically, would need a local based third party to produce (maybe the guys who did the TSC NZ route). As we have seen from seven odd years of Oz and NZ suggestions, DTG just don’t seem interested in that part of the world.
Talked to the TSNZ on their Discord and they are currently not looking at tsw due to limitations in the current editor. With distance, it could be split it in 2 and have the northern 2 lines as one route and the western 2 as another, this would half the distance roughly and probably be more practical anyway
