Maybe a future expansion to Ashford would be a good idea and use the class 170/171 DMU

Me too but the sounds and functionality of the Electrostar are a dealbreaker for me. Considering the route is so short and the only new train is the 377, they’d better have put some effort into it!

It doesn't even look THAT short compared to other routes on the map, but nonetheless. TSW keeps heading - and accelerating - in the wrong direction.

Do I get money off because I already own the Class 66 with GWE?

I assume the aggregate JNA will add additional services to GWE? Given they run on GWE in reality and the services in ECW are limited to only the short Seaford Branch, it makes complete sense to have added additional services to GWE.

Thank you DTG. We will get the Electrostar and freight action with the powerful 66 and a new type of freight car, an additional branch line and wonderful landscape. Can't wait to play it.

I'm actually a bit surprised that the route is so short but I agree with you looking forward to getting my hands on the 377 hopefully as you said a lot of effort goes into it

You realise that they left out the section of route which actually runs along the coast and is the most scenic part of the line? This isn't going to Hastings.

    You won't be getting this:

Now tsw is a bit more established it seems likely that were going to get existing locos from other routes....
I'd personally like to see a route where all the other dlc locos become usable, 33, 52, 31, should get more future coverage IMO....

All TSW routes this year have passenger and freight action. That is a great progress compared with last year. 2018 only 2 from 5 routes had freight and passenger action from the beginning. NTP got it this later in this year with the BR Heavy Freight Pack.

Very good idea. The powerful 52 could run there with 100 mph not with 25 only at WSR at the moment. It would be very nice too, if we could use the new freigh cars on GWR.

i think they should have done london to brighton which is 50 miles and later add a freight pack like they did on NTP

i think the 33s could run on this route. i know they went to bournemouth and hastings not sure if they did brighton but they were mainly used on southern rail so they could have done

In the era this is set in the class 33's were extinct down south with only the remaining few transfered up north with DRS and later West Coast Railway where a few remain today.

A very short route with 1 reused loco... DTG standard.

The only positive thing about this new DLC, in my opinion, is: "Timetable with over 200 timetabled services".

Class 66163 has been in Poland since 2016 and the 377s arrived starting in 2003, so it's not current day, but somewhere between 2003 and 2016.

HA you beat me too it. I was going to enquire whether this could be done as there are some services that run, but i'm not sure which ones they are. Well I will be purchasing it if I win the lottery. lol

    Cheers

I think the length is really too short would of been nice to have more track length after Eastbourne. I feel they have an accountant on the team who determines the route length based soley on economics.

...and he's doing a terrible job and a disfavor to his employer. People are leaving behind TSW in masses first and foremost for two reasons: No editor and too short routes.

Just a little anekdote: I just remember how, after RRO was announced, I said jokingly, "Already looking forward to Newport to Bristol... Bristol Parkway, that is."

And here we are, exceeding that by not even two miles.

DTG never expanded any route whatsoever, and I believe to remember either them or someone familiar with UE4, even hinting at that not even being technically possible.

You would pay 60$ for Brighton to Hastings?

Maybe they should review their price model and have a Pro route option where you pay a premium and get longer routes or more rolling stock. I feel there could be a Pro route customer base. Or why not crowd fund routes where they setup Route projects and allow people to support it that way? Who knows but I feel there is a need to get the ecomonics and route length right!!

While I'm glad we're getting a modern UK electric, but the offering seems lackluster to me.
Compared to last year's Northern Trans-Pennine route released at almost the same date:

    Northern Trans-Pennine: Manchester - Leeds:
    20% off in the pre-sale = 24 €
    43 miles
2 brand new locos or multiple units (40 and 101)
1 loco seen before (47 on WSR), but in different livery
    3 types of passenger wagons

East Coastway: Brighton - Eastbourne & Seaford:
    10% off in the pre-sale = 27 €
    23 + 7 miles
1 brand new multiple unit (377/4)
1 loco seen before (66 on GWR), but in different livery
    1 new wagon

It's possible the route might be more detailed than NTP, but I can't get excited about this. So far it's missing that little extra something.

The more I look at this the more dispointing it gets. The model of Brighton station is the TS asset from 7 years ago with barely any changes. You can see in the pillars how flat and lacking detail they are.

Well I have pre-ordered it. I am not bothered by the length, although it would have been nice to see it going to Hastings, it isn't a deal breaker for me.

For me value for money is how much enjoyment and use I will get out of it, not necessarily what it contains.

Some on here know the cost of everything and the value of nothing!

I feel I will still enjoy it as its a UK EMU and I like the Class 377. But I feel the longer runs to Hastings would of been better!!

I think that's a bit harsh on the members of this community.

It's DTG who don't the know the value of things, which is why they charge the same price for NTP and ECW despite the latter having significantly less content.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with having a shorter route with fewer items of rollingstock, so long as the price reflects this fact.

So you say 23+7 miles so does that mean about 30 miles in total if so that's not far off from GWE

Oh spare the mock hurt! I said some not all.

You just want to pick fault with everything they release anyway so there was no way you were going to like it in the first place!
