I may be asking a bit much here, but I would absolutely LOVE to see BML remastered and up to TSW6 standards. As part of this, it could include the 700/1 variant (/0 can be layered on as they run some Bedford-Three Bridges services), more 377 subclasses such as the /1 in full (101-139 as they have the older headlights), /2 layered from WCMLS, /3 (from 171 & 377/3 pack), /6 (metro services) and the /7 (East Croydon-Watford Junction services). Layers would include the 171 (from 171 and 377/3 pack), (playable between East Croydon and South Croydon) and the 166. It is my local line and would love to see it at its full potential and complete rail scene.
Would love this, but unlikely to happen. Which is unfortunate because it's still a good route despite its age.
one of my most played and most chill routes in the whole game... so any enhancement, be it some extra track, some polishing or new trains populating the route, anything, will just be more icing on this juicy railway cake
I'm really for this, however the London bridge terminus' would be more appropriate on for today's standard's I'd honestly pay £39.99 for a route like this.
Expansion would be great, but from what I understand, if DTG want to add any extension on an older route, they have to rebuild the whole route from scratch. I don't know if the new routes are futureproof, as in DTG can add extensions at will?
Extensions are possible, however from older route's I'm not too sure with this. However the Rapid Transit German route had an extension so I don't see why not
Yes, extensions are possible, but the way the older routes are constructed compaired to the newer ones is different, you can't bolt one to the other going by what DTG say. They would have to rebuild the route from scratch, so they get tied up making an old route with the same amount of effort as a brand new route. A brand new route they can sell, a remade older route is not as easy to sell, it is risky and DTG are tied up with remaking an older route, where they could have spent that time making a new route. I hope future routes have that bolt on ability?
it wasnt Rapid Transit, it was Dresden Riesa, which got extended to Leipzig, plus they added Friedrichstadt freight yard and alternate/branch path to Coswig
Obviously, DTG would need to see some kind of profit in order to consider remastering Brighton Mainline. With this in mind, I came up with an idea: The Brighton Mainline Gameplay Pack would be similar to the Class 380 or Class 170 add-ons for the Cathcart Circle or Birmingham Cross-City routes. It would come with an entirely new route timetable and some additional rolling stock. The gameplay pack would include additional Class 377 and Class 700/1 variants. It would be supported by a remaster to appeal to a broader audience. The following are some of the things that the remaster and new gameplay pack could cover, but are not limited to: Overhaul to support TOD4 lightning Station and on-board announcements Scenery for Norwood Junction Reigate overhaul Norwood Junction playable in new timetable Coulsdon Town playable in new timetable Rolling stock for timetable (might have missed some obviously): South Western Railway class 158 (Midland Mainline DLC) - [Unbranded] Great Western Railway class 166 (Great Western Express DLC) Southern class 171/7 (East Coastway Gameplay Pack) Southern class 171/8 (East Coastway Gameplay Pack) Southern class 313/2 (Class 313 Add-On) South Western Railway class 450 (West Coast Mainline DLC) - [Unbranded 350] Southeastern class 375/9 (Southeastern High Speed DLC) Southeastern class 375/9 (ROG class 37 Add-On) - [substitution for some % of class 375 services] Southern class 377/1 (Brighton Mainline Gameplay Pack) Southern class 377/2 (West Coast Mainline DLC) Southern class 377/3 (East Coastway Gameplay Pack) Southern class 377/4 (Brighton Mainline DLC) Southern class 377/6 (Brighton Mainline Gameplay Pack) Southern class 377/7 (Brighton Mainline Gameplay Pack) London Overground class 378 (Mildmay Line DLC) Gatwick Express class 387/2 (Brighton Mainline DLC) Southeastern class 465/9 (Southeastern High Speed DLC) Thameslink class 700/0 (Class 700 Add-On) Thameslink class 700/1 (Brighton Mainline Gameplay Pack) This approach would encourage players who own the Brighton Mainline DLC to purchase the proposed Brighton Mainline Gameplay Pack and encourage new players to buy the updated Brighton Mainline DLC. It would also encourage players to purchase existing content that would be added to the new timetable. It's a simple and effective way to make a profit, and it would finally give the London-Brighton route some love.
As I’ve mentioned before, I truly believe DTG are terrified of this route which is why they never went back in and fixed the snagging issues like the missing track at Redhill, the missing fencing on the Quarry line or the fictional representation of Reigate.
I don't know if that's strictly true. They copied the section of the Bakerloo line between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone for WCMLS and the entirety of the original SEHS route when they extended it. I doubt it would require them to rebuild the route from scratch.
Hove and Stewart’s Lane are both modelled and somewhat ‘accessible’ they could easily be included in a BML redemption arc. Reigate, Coulsden, Norwood Jct could all be modelled better and added in with little alteration to the delicate timetable. Assets across the route could be the meat of the update though, with so many areas, station fronts / car parks, line side areas and fencing, clutter and signage missing from the original. There’s a pretty long list somewhere..
