Reading this article online and Ill quote it before I break it down. "You can take legal action against a games company for poor value for money if there was a breach of consumer law, such as a faulty product or service, misleading information, or unfair practices." Poor Value for money: Every single TSW Product is overpriced for the constant bugging or lack of Beta testing. Faulty product and service: The bugs that are neglected from even back to TSW4 (Free Roam issues) still present in TSW6. Unfair Practices: This one is hard to fully make a claim but at a stretch some people would say that neglecting user complaints, whilst upping prices and cutting corners, is a form of unfair practice. DTG need to seriously think about their next 12 months with their TSW series. The quality is dropping, the prices are increasing, and all the while long term, high funding players are being left to rot with the bugs that they keep being left with. Someone proper may actually take that route soon if the announcement of TSW7 comes before a proper rethink about customer support and bug fixing.
I can be quite critical of DTG at times and have adjusted my spending habits accordingly, but talk of legal action is just absurd. No self respecting lawyer is going to take that on. They will try the game, find that most of it works as advertised and throw the whole thing out - with a £500 fee for wasting their time. Besides there are probably all sorts of clauses in the EULA that don't guarantee the software performance anyway. And even if such a case was feasible and won, the outcome could kill off DTG as a company which would leave no support at all for their products and like it or not, there's no other train game that could fill its shoes. The best tool we have is to continue offering constructive if blunt feedback and criticism and voting with our wallets.
Tbf I've thought about reporting the whole miss sold steam DLC and abandonment to Trading Standards in the UK. The routes were both miss sold with features that never came or were never fixed. Going back through the release articles and forum posts there's lots of evidence to prove this for the SOS and PFR routes. But honestly I don't think it would be worth the hassle. Unfortunately it's just one of those holes DTG has dug themselves into probably in part thanks to focus where they sweep things under the rug and won't acknowledge them because they know they messed up. I mean Vern is also right there's no one to fill that void. As much as DTG have their downfalls thankfully we have third parties like JT, TSG (and maybe soon adding AAS to that list) who are putting some really great work in. Myself and I'm sure others really do hope that a third party can come up and sort steam out in the way JT have knocked the BR blue era out of the park. Until then though we have to just badger away at DTG and hope someone is listening.
Don't be ridiculous "Overpriced" is not a legal concept. Price is what the market will bear, barring some form of government price regulation. Might as well sue EA and Ubisoft for jumping up to the $80 mark "Faulty" means "unfit for the purpose sold"- and that doesn't mean "bugs," it means "doesn't work at all."
I remember some years ago a certain member was going to Kent trading standards and even put a poll up as to whether they should. Wriggled out of it when people encouraged them. DTG are certainly not perfect but threatening legal action is ridiculous.
So let’s say hypothetically you win (which you won’t) the only compensation you’d be entitled to is a refund. Yes DTG might have to pay court costs and your legal fees but it’s not going to cover your your taxi to the court, let alone the time you’d be spending in bringing the case to court. The only winner would be the lawyers. But in reality you’d be laughed out of court even if you could find a lawyer to take the case on.

Synthetic Angel is that you again? Anyway I don't think there should be legal action against private companies making sub-par products. You just don't have to buy them and only support what you already see. Not what is promised. Also it's not like you don't know what you are getting. Dovetail themselves present each release with a multi-hour stream so anyone can tell almost exactly what they are getting. Not to mention third-party reviews of all kind.
I believe you're referring to the consumer act 2015? On the subject of digital content/video games I don't think bugs and missing or cut features are going to be covered, it's only applicable if it's completely knackered and doesn't work at all or the product is completely different to what has been advertised (might be wrong I've not fully looked into it). The games/dlc are sloppy at times and have problems but aren't completely unplayable but I do agree that DTG need to sort stuff out so testing is better and fewer things are missed or broken before release.
this will always be subjective and as such will always speak for itself, if the product is considered overpriced and their is a big consensus it will sell poorly and that is the repercussion, if a certain group of people who do not wish to spend that much money on said product it will have a lower but not necessarily bad sales rate in which case like the Luis Vuitton of clothing it simply isn’t aiming for low income earners/people who do not wish to part with higher amounts of cash. Generally speaking I think DTG offers better quality product than near scam game companies, however their bug quality standards maybe the lowest of the professional titles of games I play and I’m a big fan of Fallout and Elder Scrolls a company with a reputation , and on the talk of these scam game companies I’ve been noticing a rise of them selling on the official Xbox marketplace, just see all the versions trying to copy Nokta Games Supermarket Sim as an example. Edit: i am very critical of the standards and believe it to be the biggest issue of the game needing addressing, especially on what I think is the lowest standard platform TSW is available on, and I do not believe it to be the consoles fault, I did walk away from the game for the duration of TSW5, keeping only an ear out for anything important to improving that, but TSW is the the only product what can provide what I’m after from a train sim on my console, as such I’ve taken back into the game recently on the condition of changing my spending habits of the game to only content I’m happy with for its quality on Xbox and if it is on sale, that’s the best way to enjoy the most out of the entire series in my view without believing you are overspending and running into too many issues, after that it’s up to DTG how they handle their previous content and future content if I am to stay or change that position their is content such as the class 380 which on paper I would happily purchase, however it is completely of the list due to its quality on Xbox as an example

There are quite a lot of issues in the game that if I had not read about them in the forums, I honestly wouldn't have known that sounds were inaccurate, or that certain things in game weren't as they are in the real world, eg honestly wouldn't have had a clue. That ignorance on some rather specialist stuff at times is my own fault but does highlight not everyone will be as critical as some can be. As others have suggested, the software would have to have a lot more wrong for anything even vaguely legal to be a consideration. EDIT for spelling error

I've had disagreements with DTG over TSW5, but not once has the idea of 'legal action' ever popped into my head. I treat games that I do not like, like I do TV programmes that I don't like, I turn it off and get on with my life. But just to clarify, no matter how much I've agreed or disagreed with DTG, nothing they've ever done has ever warranted any threat of legal action. Jesus Christ.

The game has its flaws and annoyances but overall it brings me joy and I play at least an hour every day. You of course have your right to free speech, but I think this post is actually laughable.
In 2025 video games has to go to court. And yet Atari graphic was null and void. What next train sim world has to spend up to 10yr in prison for not having the right amount of bugs Gz what a day.

The only thing that has improved with TSW6 is that it doesn't seem to crash as much as TSW5! TSW6 is quite literally a money grab for DTG which is why I only downloaded the free version.
Lets ask a basic question. How many users on this forum have bought only 1 DLC from TSW and were so outraged they did not buy another? If one has bought more than one DLC, then there must have been something your liked to keep coming back. If this is true then whoever is without sin cast the first stone. Othewise grow up and stop being so child like.
Every now and then there will be lame threats of legal action. I’d happily follow a case as it progressed all the way to the questioning that discovered that despite finding game content bought from DTG buggy and ‘not fit for purpose’ the complainant went on to buy 76 more items of game content from the same company in 72 separate transactions over a period of four years. That is enough evidence to prove that the complainant has accepted the level of quality on offer. Case closed.
I´m often not happy with the quality of TSW dlc, but I would not say it´s some kind of scam that needs legal action.
Yes, I am calling it a money grab! I downloaded the free version because I am unwilling to pay for the same old game with the same old bugs because you have to install TSW6 if you want any future DLC that is released.
