The new supercomputers Heads up folks, All our hardware is obsolete so it seems as the next leap in processing power is now available for home use. It runs off a normal home mains supply. Nvidia DGX Spark 128gb of RAM 4 TB SSD All fair so far but that processor! 'one quadrillion calculations per second and can handle AI models with up to 200 billion parameters.' Im currently saving up to buy a i-9 24core 6.MHz, with 32GB and 32GB of RAM That will cost me £2k. this new DGX Spark supercomputer is about £3k. for that power, the price is miniscule and more or less makes all our hardware obsolete. Looking forward to see how this develops over the next five to ten years. https://wonderfulengineering.com/nvidias-personal-ai-supercomputer-goes-on-sale-october-15th/
Yeah, things are moving fast right now and the next few years are going to be scary/exciting. Cross out the appropriate. Of course they will need all our electricity and water and may leave the world a scorched barren wasteland in the process, so we will have to see if it is worth it in the long run. Maybe DTG are banking on AI being able to fix all the bugs in their game?
TSW will still stutter and stammer and the trees will flick in the foreground at times reminiscing an epileptic fit
Watch Digital Foundry or Linus Tech Tips next week, or the week after when something more powerful gets announced. That $3,000 supercomputer is already old technology.
nVidia GPU's already superceded CPU's in die size, complexity and number of transistors for a few years. power consumption and thermal efficiency? and too expensive to put in consoles for sure.
