What part do you not understand? That is DTG business model. I am not willing to pay for any of the packages DTG offered with TSW6 because it's the same old (TSW5) game for the most part with the same old bugs as stated earlier. Their customers are essentially required to download TSW6 for free or pay for what version they want to purchase, but if you do not do one or the other there will be no future updates to TSW5 or new DLC compatible with TSW5. I have purchased quite a lot of DLC since the original release of TSW, so DTG is essentially forcing their customers to download a free version or purchase a version of TSW6 which is a great business model for them, but not so much for their customers. I understand DTG is a business, but that is how they keep their customers looped into purchasing more DLC while still giving them the base game for free without hardly fixing any bugs or making any real changes/updates to the game engine.

 

What a money grab. A free update to a game you already own.

I'm currently waiting for Football Manager 26 advanced access to release. The only upgrade option from FM24 cost £45.

EDIT: And after a check of VAR it looks like the game's release has been delayed once again. Even by Southern Region's standards, 1 year and two weeks is very late.

 

hWether you buy TSW or the free version is entirely up to you.

It is your choice, no one is forcing you to do anything.

You can continue to receive updates to the game for free, by updating to the free starter pack edition. It isn't hidden behind a paywall or some type of deception. You won't need to fork out a single penny if that's what you want.

You're not obliged to purchase any further payware DLC either if that is what you wish to do.

You're also not going to receive updates to an outdated version of a game, that just goes without saying.

Any bug fixes will be on TSW6 which is free.

If you stick with TSW5 you won't get any at all.

*We are all to aware of TSW failings, across it's many incarnations and DTG's ignorance to address them, looking at you save game, but to even suggest legal action is pure whimsical fantasy.

I can see ive sparked some criticism and debate. Let me make myself clear I'm in no way threatening legal action. I was just bringing something to light that someone with actual means may come along. I'm fully aware, despite my points, that it would be like standing on stilts made from a Kinder Bueno if taken to court.

But legal action aside, my opinion stands. DTG are a facade for a cash grab. Previews always show their good and perfect little routes with their freindly little team of developers, and then on release week the same people always find the same issues despite prices in recent times going up. The poll speaks for itself. Almost a 50/50 rating should be ringing alarm bells that content isnt good enough.

the free version is just a way at potentially though not guaranteed way at receiving future updates for content already purchased as those updates wont be ported back to what TSW iteration that dlc was bought on, it is purely a solution to a problem of releasing a new game faster than adding additional features or fixing broken issues with previous DLC, it is in no way but titled a free copy of a game, no new routes no new trains and no new features away from what you have already paid for.

The DTG team will say they won't fix everything, but they will fix a lot. Stay tuned, keep an eye on the news. This item will even appear on the roadmap. In every roadmap. Every month. And now the new version has been announced. And the promise is still on the roadmap. Now it's smoothly transitioned into anticipation for the next version, in which all this will be released. And then suddenly this promise disappears from the roadmap, nothing is fixed. But after a short while, it will appear again.
The main thing is, don't lose faith and keep buying. Otherwise, sales might drop and they'll have to move from words to action. Fixing something. Do they need it?

And for your other point, it's the Devs that need to want to improve the game not the people that happily spend their money on what ever they like. Most of your problem is the game isn't giving you what you personally want and you're falling down the pit of frustration, and that is slowly morphing into what will probably become an obsessive hate. You're going to say I'm wrong but I've seen it too many times on these forums........

TSW6 is certainly the most bug infestes piece of software on my console, but "it is what it is".

I think the preview streams are largely detrimental.
The poll allows multiple votes, and I considered voting both ways(didn't vote at all) as I obviously enjoy the game but can always find fault.

Perhaps the op is trying to gain support for a class action lawsuit. So far it's not going well.

 

I don't know what country you're from, but at least in the EU the seller/store is the one responsable for the product, as you bought it from them. So you have to point the legal action towards Valve, Epic, Microsoft or Sony. Besides this, the product is working and this kind of products can contain bugs, so good luck with the legal action. I think we should take legal action to the complete gaming and software industry, as all software products contain bugs.

 

If Ubisoft can get away with killing off The Crew, making it literally unplayable now, then there is no way you'd ever be able to get legal action taken against DTG just for having a game with bugs. While TSW could be a less buggy experience, sure, the idea of suing them is ludicrous, especially as there's no legal basis for this. If there was, most game devs in the industry would be getting sued. And the reality is that as buggy as TSW can be sometimes, dozens upon dozens of other games have released in a far far worse state, and funnily enough, none (to my knowledge at least) have been successfully sued by any players.

 

I’ve come up with the chant for today’s ‘no bugs’ protests…
