At this point Dovetail should release TSW8 and skip TSW7 just to surprise everyone

I think we will probably get a japanese route. Maybe Tadami Line. Let's wait for the TSW 7 roadmap info ;)

Is this an express thread that doesn’t stop at TSW6?
For me the Class 390 WCMLS has to be extended to Brum. If they can do it for ICE then they can do it for the Pendo which currently has a disgusting 30 mins of gameplay without even a stop for the most part.
Not good enough. ICE already had longer runs than that, multiple in fact. Balance the books DTG.
In addition we will soon have Brum in the game.

    I predict:

Expansion on what we already have, new sound files (Class 142 sounding like Tim Curry)
Re-releasing trains we already have in liveries we can make for free,
A new UI that will add drunk NPCs to Preston and only Preston (you pay more to get them at Crewe),
Occasional birds on locomotives, mode DLC than base routes

Oh...and a new Class 66 with a cult-like fan base who thinks this is still acceptable.

    And multiplayer.

MP would be a car crash and something I’m not interested in. Every server has its share of idiots larking about ruining it for others.

    What is it with people?

TSW6 hasn't even released yet, we've only just found out what's coming to it.

Why on earth do we need a thread predicting routes for TSW7 now?

    Because it's a joke.[EDIT - Jan - Language]

It's pathetic and why should we care? Why give our money to this when we'll just get the same [EDIT - Jan - Language] next year.

Why do we repeat ourselves as a community every year. Year after year.

Dovetail Games wants to listen to the fans, then why let them get away with this!? Let them take us as walking wallets?

    [EDIT - Jan - Insulting]

And If by some miracle Dovetail is reading this thread, then I want them to know exactly how pathetic this all is:

I was watching the reveal with my BF. He's not intr in train sims, he has no idea about TSW.
And he even said it felt like things were being repackaged.

Dovetail, you have a monopoly over train sim games:
You can and should do better for the game you say you love and the fans you claim to care for.

Otherwise quit and do the world of train sims a favor.

Alright, I'll apologize for any offense. And I'll try to word my thoughts more civilly:

Dovetail is sitting on a goldmine of an IP,
You have managed to create a game that is both easily accessible and yet immersive for train fans. You have a product that is unmatched and a development team that is unrivaled in terms of Train Sims.
You have budgets and outreach that surpass Centuries of Steam, Railroader, Trainz, and more.

And yet you do so little.

I believe that train sims can do wonders for railfans, railway historians, and more.

You could help visualize routes that aren't even built yet, seeing what operational challenges will arise with such a route and find ways around it.

You can relive history lost to time, find the answers to questions left behind.
Did City of Turo really reach 100mph?
How did the DRG Class SVT 877 help change rail travel?
What was the original Stockton and Darlington route like?

Instead you give us the same modern image experiences time after time. In fact; you give us more DLC announcements than actual new content.

And speaking of DLC; I personally can not see a justification for TSW6, everything announced today could have been patch fixes and DLCs. And would be interested to hearing or seeing why we need another brand new game. In fact, I will recend my comments, apologize, and even by the premium version of TSW6 and additional content if a justified and reasonable answer for a new game can be given.

So while my tone might have been angry (as I feel is my right as a paying customer), and my message insulting in tone, I stand by it:

You can do better, and if you stand by your word as listening to the community; you should aim for more than you give.
Instead of just re-releasing the same game again and again and again.

Well Goat Simulator skipped 2 and went straight from 1 to 3.
Microsoft Windows went straight from 8 to 10.

And also said back in TSW3 they would have to build a brand new game and that MP would not be coming. So they took that off the table 3 years ago.

When did they claim they cared.

DTG don''t care about us they are a business, do you think McDonalds cares?

All they care about is making money like a business is supposed too and obviously they are aware on the gold mine they have since profits doubled from last year.

So they are doing something right.

Friends, families, doctors, and therapists are wgo you should be looking at if you want caring, not a video game company.

Steam, Sony and MS/Xbox declare “enough is enough” and impose a cull on the amount of DLC that can be transferred across.

Related to above, DTG “engineering” still incapable of devising a method of transferring content locally on the player’s machine.

We will still be waiting for Tadami Line.

DTG will still use Rivet to build the UK route.

Still only one save game slot.

Old curmudgeons like me, even though we enjoy the game really, will still whinge and grizzle on the forums.

The kiddies will still be demanding multiplayer.

I don't think TSW is "off topic" from TSW on a TSW forum.
You could just join the other 6 or 7 threads breathlessly complaining about what doesn't exist yet.

I think one of the new features of TSW7 will be a new weather engine that adds better effects like leaf-fall in Autumn, more realistic showers/thunderstorms, better fog and mist effects and live weather.
I'm also hoping the passenger engine/passenger behaviour gets a complete overhaul.

Most of all, I want TSW to come to East Anglia at long last with 2 routes; GEML London to Ipswich by Just Trains set in Anglia/First Great Eastern days (Classes 86 & 90 with DBSO and classes 312/321) and from DTG WAML London & Stratford to Stansted Airport & Cambridge set in 2026 (Classes 170 XC, 720 & 745).
While All-aboard announce Crewe to Llandudno finally bringing North Wales into TSW too. Maybe Skyhook could announce a long awaited extension from Nottingham to Sheffield.

One thing that has been debunked is why we need to redownload everything. Putting the original Caltrain pak files from TSW5 into 6 and they worked straight off. So absolutely no reason why, subject to disc space, going from TSW6 to TSW7 if that becomes a thing, DTG and Steam can’t work out a process to copy or move official DLC pak files locally on your hardware. Then just apply any patching that might be needed.

Basically DTG have set up a huge mythos around this process when, to me, the solution should be easy.

But can console players do the same thing?

What is interesting, though, is that the old files worked on the new game, so you're basically replacing a file with no changes with TSW6. To solve the re-download issue, there must be a way for the new game to be able to read existing pak files and ad to that list. Whether or not consoles players can do it is irrelevant as DTG would be the ones doing it.

Basically, why do the players have to move the pak files themselves. Why can't DTG do it for us and save us doing the redownload every year. Or why can't DTG keep all the pak files in a directory (Documents > My Games or the console equivalent) and simply have the new game read off of that directory?

I'm probably missing something here like QA or updates or something, but it is something.

So what you are basically saying is that why the hell can't dovetail keep updating the core to add whatever minimal functions they believe constitute a new release (and breaking 20 other things in the process) so saving us the time, power and bother of downloading 100s of gigabytes every year?

    I don't know either.

They've already given us the sales perspective. New games sell better than updated games; store pages push new games more. I believe them and am willing to accept that reason. EXCEPT: Redownloading is an issue that needs to be fixed before total acceptance. Paywalled updates was another, but they sorted that one.

And if they aren't going to update old routes with new features (let's not kid ourselves - that's a lot of work and would discourage the addition of new features/routes), at least there's an easy way to convery that 'TSW compatible content may not come with all new features' instead of 'TSW routes released more than 1 year ago may not have all new features included'.
