The current system is a bit inflexible in chaos scenarios. I just did the run with the Voyager from Plymouth in the snow that ends up terminating at Newton Abbot. But despite that, the announcer was still stating the next station was Exeter SD and the train was going to Leeds. Would have been better if the text pop up showing a message from the driver to the passengers (which would have been made by the Guard) had been fed into the announcement system instead, together with the platform announcements stating all change.
For some reason, the passenger ambience in the Class 150 isn't working. I've ensured that the settings are enabled, but even while walking through a completely full train, no sounds are playing. I noticed this issue after the most recent update on Steam. I searched for a feedback thread regarding passenger ambience but couldn't find one, so I'm sharing this feedback here.
Announcements (Voyager) refer to Newcastle as Newcastle Central. Pretty sure this is wrong, should only say Newcastle.
Also, even go via objectives incur announcements, as well as ECS moves. Seems like announcements are tied specifically to objectives altogether, regardless of what the objective is.
The announcements were previously at 100% and were quite loud as one would expect at max volume. The problem was that you couldn't save any volume adjustments that you made. However, now I have noticed that the volume for the announcements is fairly low even when set at 100%. Since the player can't make the audio any louder than 100%, I would say that the base volume now needs to be increased. At 100% it is not really loud enough for me anymore.
It would be great if the announcements that played when you've stopped happened after you've opened the doors instead of the millisecond you finish braking into a station.
I don’t like the announcements because of the fact that they play automatically the moment you stop one scheduled platform, before the doors have even released. Voice is horrible personally, feels like there is no variety in tone and i’m listening to the same message over and over again. Maybe at least (If allowed/ possible ) copy the transcript for each operator then use whatever voice is available. This is from what listened to in videos, and it’s going to be no different when I do download TSW6, and I’ll be sure to disable them (If there is any way of doing so).
DTG: The audio enhancements in TSW6 are truly wonderful, and the announcements feature in particular suggests to me that the programming might be close to be able to do something else that would significantly enhance immersion: the ability for AI trains to activate their bells and/or horns at appropriate locations on their service paths.
There are really quiet platform announcements to the south of Stafford. Would also be nice to have announcements on older routes but probably won't happen as I think the new features are for tsw6 onwards.
I just did a post midnight run on leipzig dresden and the stations annoucement for a0:40 departure are just "abfahrt 40" Also strange that at the terminus when closing the doors you hear the welcome on board this is the train to here announcement
When I'm leaving a station (Exeter St Thomas on Riviera is one), the platform announcements do their thing, but just a tad too late - no point telling people that the train on platform 2 is ready to leave when it's already started moving.
Train announcements cannot be heard unless your actually inside the train although you should be able to hear them when standing in close proximity to the train outside.
I noticed that on Birmingham to Crewe yesterday. To be fair though, that can happen in real life too, with human announcers. Susan Gibbs MBE, the very human announcer at Fenchurch Street station with a distinctive sing-song voice, periodically announces that "the train on platform (whatever) is now departing", literally as it's pulling away from the platform. Always makes me smile when she does that.
Yeah, but I feel like it happens way too often in TSW. Literally every time I start to pull away the announcement comes.
Do all German trains announce the next stations exit (left or right doors) at departure of the current station? It kind of makes sense when the next stop is a few minutes away, but it seems a bit premature when the next station is 10km or further away.
They can define the Announcement, ist just an Timing thing. or they can use the Distance based function.
Audio levels of all announcements reset to 100% once the game has been restarted despite having saved set levels. On Xbox SX at least.
I'm having to turn announcements off now at a terminus i.e. Paignton & Manchester Picc, so annoying having an announcement saying the next train to arrive at platform 1 is for Manchester Piccadilly, calling at Manchester Piccadilly whilst at Man Picc, can't these be stopped or amended to say terminates here? Also, where are the little sound chimes before the announcements? It annoys me seeing it on PIS screens but I can ignore them, hearing it though is another matter It's a decent start but needs more work doing but I guess that'll never happen, will be filed under 'F' for forget like most bugs
