Accidental random fault? haha, seems fun. I simulate this kind of stuff occasionally if a run gets boring
No it was a random fault lol. I’m guessing it was one that couldn’t be fixed for some reason. (Probably a bug) Still made the run interesting though!
I did the NJT-851 service today from Hoboken to Dover, and none of the passengers at any of the stations wanted to board my train. Also, the alarm sounds are way too loud. Every time the ATC and ACSES alarms went off, my Bluetooth speaker sounded like a smoke alarm was going off. If possible. I would like to have the option to adjust the audio for the safety systems, as some of them are way too loud.
Would like to see a random fault on this locomotive where, in diesel mode, one of the diesel prime movers shuts down and you're left with 1/2 power for the rest of the trip lmao
ah, I see you arent a member of the Beeping Inferno Church ... do you have time to talk about our Lord and Savior The Big Beep?
Just took my first run with the loco (PC Steam) and concur, sounds are either out of sync or simply not playing when they should. Track sound and clatter through points and crossings seem minimal, even when coasting. Loco seems to suffer from a fair bit of drag when coasting, even on level or slightly downgrade track (this could be a core behaviour as noted with the 411 on German routes too).
Sorry if already mentioned, but loading into a save game the loco will no longer respond to the throttle (doing the Twin Peaks scenario). Had to stop and engage diesel mode at which point I was able to move off again. Edit: Which of course messes up the scenario as on arrival at Summit you are prompted to change ends and engage diesel mode which is of course is already running but the script is too inflexible to recognise that. So after cycling back through to electric mode restarted on diesel and set off, however... The game is now playing the electric soundset instead of the diesel one. How did this rubbish get through testing? Edit: It’s possible the diesel sounds are being overwhelmed by the traction motors and/or the electric sounds are also playing in tandem, as there was very faint trace of a spooling down as I throttled back. But IMHO the sounds are a bit of a mess and ruin the loco.
ehm, running a service from NY Penn to Summit, and the voltage change seems to have gone pretty well, except the voltage indicator on the left screen is kinda confused, it doesnt show 25 kV as in ALP46, but instead the classic 16 kV bar is completely filled, tho the arrow is still on 12 kV somehow edit: I dont know if I fixed it by clicking on Trainline status or it just fixed itself up, but now it shows correctly 25 kV
Exactly why the ALP45 is nicknamed vacuum cleaners on the railroad. The cooling fan noises are IRL very loud and they overtake the Diesel sounds. I think the devs did a god job replicating that. Taking over from a save game has always and will probably continue to be an issue until It's fixed. Here's a clip from Fan Railer on the ALP45 and he mentioned " The fans should stay running under normal conditions for approximately 2 min after the mode change (as should the diesels),The motor blower fans do also spin up when the traction motor temp rises when taking power. In the case of that video, this is one of the raritan direct trains which switch over to electric into Newark Penn. The fans rarely shut off on the dual modes in this service because New York Penn is just so goddamn hot on the platform level, especially in the summer
Cabcar with ALP-45 on back doesn't hold the brakes. Instead hold position is releasing brakes. Fixed by restarting service.
Did you accidentally turn off EP assist in the cab car? Turning off the EP will turn the Hold notch into a second release notch on the brake handle.
I don't know where it is. I followed the standard (for me) procedure: Ctrl + W, reverse into neutral, open the window, ctrl + num enter, shift + num enter, hold brakes in button, after indication shows that brakes is alive put the brake lever into hold position, open the doors... and my train is rolling back from the Summit station.
I actually can’t with this locomotive anymore. I have tried doing SIX different runs out of New York Penn and all of them had the pantograph drop three or four times before I even left the tunnel. Even with the random faults set to low, I can’t leave the tunnel. It doesn’t help that requesting electric mode won’t even fix the fault and I’m stuck there doing it over and over again. I really don’t want to disable random faults because they are a good feature. Series X.
I don't know that I'd put TSW above TSC for accuracy of sounds. They're both about equal and depends more on the individual DLC.
The faults, even when supposedly disabled, are really killing this loco for me. When the driver side wiper breaks, as it does on just about every run, there's no way to get it to come back on again. At least the constantly breaking Arrow doors respond to manually closing them. The Alp-45 wiper just stops working and cannot be turned off and on again.
Is it possible to remove the electric brake? Because when I am driving and I put the traction control to 0 I still have an electric brake, is it possible to remove it because it is annoying to drive because I do not have a stable speed.
As I recall, it was explained by someone elsewhere that the braking is a part of realistic behaviour, however they did not simulate both elements to it, as while one should be braking when set to zero, the other should be accelerating and it should balance out.
When these run from New York penn to dover would they ever run on diesel all the way or just electric all the way. Or would have been drivers choice. Thanks
Is the gap between the coupler fixed, it's not mentioned in the patch note, but you never know?? Update: still not fixed, hopefully in the future perhaps :-(
The locomotive won't start the diesel engine. I start the game by showing up at Hoboken station and taking over the service. The engine shuts down by itself. I start the diesel mod. I get a message that the diesel mod has been activated, but the engine won't start. Even resetting the locomotive doesn't help. Both engines are still OFF. After several attempts, I couldn't start the locomotive in diesel mode. I'm playing on PS5 and I tested the 871 Hoboken - Hackettstown service.
PS5 I found out that after yesterday's update, when the service is started and the default state is in Diesel Mode, the pantograph is also raised, and it doesn't matter if the locomotive is as a driver, or if it is at the end of the train and is controlled by a cabcar. If the given train is controlled by AI, for example if a person is following it in foot mode, it behaves correctly. Especially in Hoboken it is funny, because you are standing at the platform under the roof and you have the pantograph raised .... and at the same time the engines are started ... that was really something that was done excellently EDIT: ALP-45DSP • Added the ability to raise the local pantograph while in Electric mode. I don't know what exactly this means in practice, but I think it will be the cause of the problem.
PS5 Pro I have noticed a problem with selected services from Sunnyside Yard to NY Penn. Although the display shows Pan Up, it is down and cannot be moved.... only after driving a few meters does it jump up....... I found with these services 3809 at 3:29 6237 at 11:07 3943 at 15:39 3861 at 15:51 I may have overlooked something
This fault will not be in the locomotive, but in the misplaced overhead wire. The locomotive cannot see the wire above it.
And it happened again. This time I just pressed Ctrl+W, hold IN button, set the brakes to hold... and the train rolled away. Also AI 45DP doesn't make any diesel noises in diesel mode.
The speed is only visible on the display in light mode; in dark mode, nothing is visible. Auf dem Display sieht man die Geschwindigkeit nur im hellen Modus, im dunkel Modus sieht man nichts.
Make sure you didn't accidently trip the EP Assist switch. If it's off, Hold position will act as release. If it's on, Hold will not release brakes.
Never touched it. This bug can be "fixed" by releasing the brakes. After that the brakes will start working normally.
