    Hi All,

Train simulator classic: Horseshoe Curve Route causing Out of Memory Error. Game crashes on title screen when it says, “updating scenario database.”

All other routes and DLC that I own appear to work correctly. Only installing Horseshoe Curve Route prevents the game from booting.

No Mods or unofficial content is installed.
All workshop scenarios have been removed.
    Clearing game cache doesn't help.
    Deleting PlayerProfiles.bin doesn't help.
Clearing Steam download cache doesn't help.
Verifying file integrity on steam doesn't help.

Horseshoe Curve is my favorite route and I'm out of ideas.

Check in the Steam Client > Settings > Downloads and make sure Allow Downloads During Gameplay is Off
It might be that the game was updating.

If that does not work then Download the route again by un selecting it and re selecting it.
Library > Train Sim Classic > Properties > DLC

    Thanks for the reply,

Downloads during gameplay has never been turned on, and I have removed and re-installed the route several times. Every time I re-install it the error comes back and the whole game fails to load.

One of the problems when you uninstall a DLC it does not always get deleted but just marked so you cannot play it

So try going in to Assets/RSC and rename HorseshoeCurve by adding an X - HorseshoeCurveX
Then go in to Content/Routes 00000025-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 by changing the last 0 for a letter
    So its 00000025-0000-0000-0000-00000000000X
This way the Assets and route are still there but the game does not see them

Go in to your Steam Client and un tick the Horseshoe Curve route and re tick
That will make the game download a full version of the Route and its Assets

    See if that does it

Just finished "1. Early Morning Switching" on HSC. No issues. I know this is not what you wanted to hear.

Same here - I tried a few scenarios to see if they would open and no problems

I would just delete the whole scenario folder from your drive and have Steam download the files again.

99.73% of the time that is a workshop scenario messed up by a fault in the game.
You should peek into each scenarioproperties.xml and if it appears to have weird line breaks and otherwise garbage looking content, just delete the entire folder. Deleting the entire Scenarios might get you stuck in a loop.

Most usually people subscribe to a set like RBJets HSC sessions. It is possible, but using the local workshop manager within Steam you should disable them and activate one by one. They slow down startup and the menus anyway.

Once extracted properly they tend to stay healthy. Removing routes seems to cause TSC to run cleanups which can then reproduce the issue.
