For me I often see fuzzy textures on PC.
It's usually on rolling stock in the distance and clears as I get close to that rake of stock.

Sometimes the 'fuzz' moves from wagon to wagon down the rake as each individual vehicle comes into 'view'.

Question - are you sure the ‘fuzz’ moving isn’t just a lack of anisotropic filtering? I’m not doubting that the PC version has texture streaming issues (although I’ve never encountered it myself), but that in particular doesn’t seem like a symptom of that to me.

For me it's mainly lettering and numbering, sometimes I'll have to be right Infront of text before it becomes nice and sharp.
Destination boards on trains are the same. Like I said previously I can have 2 trains side by side, one you can read the destination clearly and the other is just a blurry mess.
Sometimes I'll be pulling into a platform and signs in the distance a readable yet signs closer to me are unreadable.

I have just realised that for me, enough has finally, actually become enough.

For the first time in years, I don't feel an inclination to buy new routes. The last route I bought was Frankfurt S-Bahn back in May, and even that I still consider to have been a mistake. The reason? Lack of in-game achievements and what it signifies. It may seem like a small thing. Some of you are undoubtedly thinking that it's unreasonable to make such a big deal out of their absence. But for me personally, that is straight up a deal-breaker.

First, the achievements provide a permanent record of what you've done with the game. Even after I've long uninstalled the game, I want to be able to easily see the things I've done in it. Second, It is nice to see the little square, hover over it, and see something like "Completed 442 boarding tasks on Rapid Transit" or "Operated the BR Class 31 for 310 miles." Small as it might seem, it signifies a job well done and taps into the same brain circuitry that make one feels proud of an accomplishment IRL. You put time and effort into something, then you get a reward for it. Even if that reward is a 48x48 .png with a spiky yellow halo around it. If there's no reward at the end, why even begin? This, I feel, is especially true for a game that is basically a job simulator.

Finally, DTG dropping achievements/trophies made it very clear that they truly do not care about their product and their customers. This has been kinda apparent for many years, but the lack of will to continue maintaining such a small but important feature, one that has become an industry standard decades ago, has so convincingly demonstrated to me the absolute state of DTG, that I no longer feel the need to reward them with my money. Why should I? They obviously do not respect the time I put into playing their buggy mess. I mean, I seem to remember Matt or some other staffer saying that TSW6's new, generic achievements would be interesting to collect. Are they? No, it's the most unimaginative, lazy, uninspired set yet.

The "that'll do" or "they'll buy it anyway" attitude has to stop. Lack of achievements is just an example of what that produces. All the "release now, maybe fix later" DLCs that have been released, the latest shambles included, all the running bugs that have been present for years and years, all the botched launches, broken patches, all the cheeky misdirections in preview streams, the lack of communication, the inability to honestly address anything but the most benign of questions, it all stems from the same toxic, "customer last" attitude. And it has to stop. I have bought nearly every single DLC for this product, and many for TSC. I'm no longer doing that. Have not done that for almost half a year. You have lost a loyal customer that has been with you for a decade. And I hope you lose more, because I don't see any other way that will cause you to shape up and clean your house.

For now, I'm just going to play TSW2 while you sort out yo' shizz. It's not like it's a substantially different experience from TSW6, now is it? Except there's hundreds of achievements, fewer buggy systems (Guard Mode, anyone?), it runs way better, and you can kinda see at night. Come to think of it, the experience might even be superior, if more barebones. And isn't that telling.

The rewarding aspect for me is being able to drive without over reliance on the HUD.

Having it pop up on screen (inconveniently right at the bottom where all the controls and dials are located) that I drove so far in a certain train was a bit off putting for me.

I tend not to dive in headfirst and buy new routes anymore either, gone are the days when I got really excited about an upcoming release, maybe if it was London based I would, but otherwise now I wait for a sale most of the time. I’ve seen too many duff releases to want to be in on day 1 anymore.

My interest has dwindled - and now a lot of new routes aren't available on my PS4 anyway. Part of the problem is that the routes I enjoyed as a basher (Notts/Skegness, North Wales coast, Exeter/ Salisbury, Brum-Chesterfield) show no sign of appearing. Similarly, historic routes that I would love to sample (Great Central, Somerset and Dorset, Midlands and Great Northern) are also being ignored - and steam is dead.

Another 16 mile commuter line in a modern bog cart just doesn't cut it for me.

I mean, both the east and west coast main lines have had quite enough excitement this weekend, I think.

I'm still happy I didn't buy any of the TSW6 content and only upgraded with the free starter pack. I was excited for Dresden-Leipzig, as I used to love DRA. But seeing that only a slight part of the marketing teams' promises were actually delivered in a playable state I doubt I'll ever buy it unless maybe at a >70% discount. I own every DLC that layers onto it, but DTG have lost me as a loyal (+6 years) paying customer that was hoping that his regular contributions would be used to fix the game rather than only serve Focus entertainments shareholders. Please, DTG Matt , do better.

Yeah they lost me too. A combination of disappointing new routes and fixes and other, better games to play.

Grabbed the free upgrade, but will not buy anything until something very interesting indeed pops up.

The first train-related game I'll invest in is probably... Denshattack!

On Series S I have the same fuzz you're talking about, but haven't seen yet the blurry textures other console users are talking about. Maybe, this is because of the fact I run the game in HD mode and others in 4K.

If only archievements are satisfying you and not the gameplay itself, maybe playing other games is a better idea as they're giving a lot of archievements. I really don't care about archievements at all, it's only disturbing when I get one.

Few months back, I tried TSW2 again, the same routes in newer versions do run better and also some bug are fixed in later games.

Actually you have to buy the new routes to get any of the new functionality, such as Platform and Train Announcements, Conductor mode etc etc so yes still a cash cow. The free upgrade does nothing but change the 5 to a 6, and adds new UI/Menu music, plus access to any further updates to any existing routes you own that are still broken from the previous iteration.....

Well, in the case of TSW6, the free version adds random events in the form of signal delays and temporary speed restrictions, including on old routes.

    At least, it's supposed to.

Agreed. I've made similar points elsewhere about the lack of achievements being a disincentive to purchase DLC, and my feelings on this matter have only gotten stronger over time. Routes that I would previously have bought on release day I'm no longer buying at all, and I've increasingly found myself playing TSW5 or TSW4 recently and mopping up achievements on older routes rather than playing TSW6.

Sorry to the members for reviving this thread once again, but I just heard the news that a well known, well respected and talented developer working on American DLCs, Brandon, has quit TSW, this is extremely saddening.

And now, I feel like he has every right to do so, with the state DTG are in.

I've given DTG plenty of excuses and leeway, but now I understand, it can't be given any more, especially when someone of that expertise, has to leave a company due to the work environment and where the companies priorities are at, this is a massive red flag.

It just feels like at the moment, DTG has hit a stump, and is plummeting, QA is a total mess and out of control, priorities are all over the place, and change last second.

This may sound hard, but the fact they have the brass nerve to say that they're doing an unreal engine 5 simulator, like metro rivals, when their current game on UE4 is broken, is actually laughable and a spectacle.

Believe me, I've had a lot of patience with DTG, way too much, but now, myself, and a lot more people have to wake up to their incompetence, and realize the consequences of their actions.

I'm not surprised by this. I've been a long time TSW user (over 6 years), but since I upgraded to the free starter pack of TSW 6 when it launched I've only played TSW for 11 hours. None of those hours were in the last month. I'm glad I didn't buy any of the TSW 6 content because I feel I've definitely given up on TSW. I've had my fun with previous editions, but if nothing changes at how DTG is leaving their playerbase hanging with a game full of bugs, I won't be hanging around here for much longer.

Despite denials to the contrary I still feel there was a sea change when Focus Entertainment took over. But still, you would think they would be exercising a bit more oversight particularly at the highest level in DTG and the TSW operation to restore order.

There’s definitively been a conscious decision to cram as many variants of existing trains we already have out there. Now we’re getting quite pricey dlc that is little more than a repaint and/or move a few nuts and bolts around, even populating new routes which never used to be a thing. These days truly new trains seem to be at a premium.
I do think there has been a sea change since the French company took over, it’s seems more about maximising profits now than anything else, and that’s where the recycling existing trains over and over has come from.
There’s a hell of a lot of units on British railways that haven’t been done, many of which would layer onto other routes, and it is these I’d like to see get more attention.

I think changes to the forum are due to Focus, but honestly I feel like people are wearing rose-tinted glasses if they think the DTG of old acted a whole lot differently. They've always been allergic to variety since TSC, the tendency toward "the big three" countries has been a thing even under RSC, the lack of non-BR steam routes has always been a thing too. So has things like reuse of existing content, and lack of oversight on QA, remember the state infamous state of Donner Pass anyone?

Wasn't DP and some other content released round that time outsourced to some Mumbay code farm for finishing?

I've noticed things which just haven't been fixed which should have been sorted a long time ago.

Firstly, the Azuma external PIS is still showing the wrong coach letters on the 9 car formation.

CPU drivers sitting in the wrong cab on AI driven locomotive services - 47, 86 and 87 for sure. This one I think I've sussed out - the CPU driver is coded to sit in the "front" of the locomotive. If the locomotive is running southbound then it is effectively running backwards in terms of how the game is coded. This is immersion breaking to see a train being driven from the cab facing the coaches and seeing the front cab empty.

Birmingham New Street still has the glowing benches despite having a new rolling stock layer introduced. I've also noticed that the staircases are also solid white too, the correct textures pop into place once you get close enough - how is this a thing when the route is almost £30?

On the subject of BCC, the entire Camp Hill Line. Why was this abandoned when it was clearly meant to be included and is almost finished? It's quite easy to run trains along that line as it's fully signalled, a lot of the scenery is done (houses, bridges, commercial buildings, car parks, roads, cars etc). Heck all of the lineside equipment has been placed - lineside cabinets, full signals, some fencing and even a GMSR mast. You cannot tell me that the line wasn't intended to be in game or to be seen by the player, there's no way all of this scenery and equipment was placed in an area which cannot be seen from the main BCC route if it wasn't intended to be part of the playable route. Again, it's very easy to drive the Camp Hill Line and it's possible to set a route along it. Will DTG ever finish BCC?

Assuming you're talking about BCC New Street, the new timetable and stock was done by Rivet, but as the route itself was done by DTG, it would be up to them to fix

For the first time in my TSW career I feel the urge to add a post to this topic. TSWs performance has never been reliable, but with DTG adding more features and pushing for longer routes with busier timetable, I get the feeling that performance has been getting worse. Or just that I've started noticing it more.

Anyways, the frequent lagspikes and FPS drops are putting me off. I've come to a point where I cannot enjoy TSW as much as I have done in the past, and I've spent more times playing other games with ETS2/ATS which are not only good looking, but run extremely smooth, despite being on decently high graphics settings on a 4K resolution.

I hope DTG can focus more on optimization and performance so I can keep enjoying TSW as much as I've done in the past.

Hmm, I was just thinking about this the other day and was kind of curious as to exactly what my level of enjoyment throughout my entire TSW cycle actually was, so I pulled up my XBox gameplay stats.....

    Time played:
    TSW 2020: 11d 0h 01m
    TSW 2: 51d 08h 57m
TSW 3: 53d 23h 41m (still playing, albeit not very often)
    TSW 4: 13h 21m (played via gamepass)
    TSW 5: 4h 53m (free version)
    TSW 6: 1h 07m (free version)

Total miles driven / incremental driver level (obtained from trueachievements):
    TSW 2020: Unknown
    TSW 2: 36,014 / 1203
    TSW 3: 34,009 / 2077
    TSW 4 - TSW 6: 3998 / 2186 (only played to farm free + easy achievements)

My most played games ever on XBox (excluding X360):

    1: Railway Empire 1: 71d 7h 7m
    2: Diablo iii RoS: 67d 23h 59m
    3: TSW 3
    4: TSW 2
    5: Borderlands 2: 51d 01h 26m

So it does goes to show that, once upon a time, TSW was a mighty fine game. Well, for me it was.

If the things you mention here were the worst of our worries, this thread wouldn't exist.

It's gotten so bad that I didn't even bother downloading the free version of TSW6! I only got 45 hours of playtime on TSW5!
If the game were at least smooth and without stuttering, maybe I'd play more, but it's getting worse and worse; for me, it's unbearable.
Even with a €50,000 PC, this game wouldn't run smoothly.

okay so i cant remember where or which exact video that I have recently watch from Train Sim Society.
And now that i think about it, how is this acceptable where add-ons that are meant for previous iterations of TSW, DTG purposely delaying them for the next iteration release, but the add on features don't even have functions or features that are new to the next version of TSW that they are released in. How is this not a scam?
to be honest i dont even use the train fault feature and the guard mode is still garbage with only 1 coach full of passengers and others just dont have them.

Im still on TSW5 and I hardly play it, its so boring I can’t really see why one would get TSW6. I mean all the routes are just A-B back and forth, especially for UK routes with no variety in stopping pattern destinations or anything. The only routes I see it as acceptable are Bakerloo line, Glossop and BCC. Even then, Bakerloo could have had an extension to Watford and Euston once the 710 came. Everything is so boring with TSW now I’ve started playing TSC again.

Riviera, has three destinations and local services and express services, plus freight.
Crewe to Birmingham has local trains between New Street and Wolverhampton plus longer distance trains to Crewe.
Shap has local trains to Morecombe, freight services and of course the express services.
Cardiff has over the two timetable four different destinations (within the route) plus services going off map.
London to Brighton has four destinations on the route and different stopping patters
SEHS has the high speed line plus the classic line to Faversham plus services stopping an Rainham
WCML South has the DC lines, the stopping services to Milton Keynes and express services (which I do feel should be longer)
    MML has two different routes
Fife Circle has two separate routes
East Coastway has the line to Eastbourne plus the Seaford branch
Blackpool Branches has three terminus stations and a freight branch and a variety of stopping services and fast services plus some freight
Cathcart has the circle line plus two other lines to two different destinations
Manchester Commuter has the line to Alderley Edge plus the line via the airport

I would have said if anything Bakerloo and Glossop have less variety.
