how is it advertised: free starter pack with training center and the newly added SD40-2 how it really is: it's not possible to use the SD40-2 in the training center
It's there but there just nothing you can do but drive it.Unlike the other locos who get wagons and coaches to use theres no US rolling stock to use with it.
Or SPG. Or Boston-Worcester. They super goofed when they copied and pasted the SPG CSX SD40-2 to create the TC version, as it ended up overwriting the original and removing it from its home route and all layers where it appears, and the TC one isn't usable anywhere.
At least they tried to do a nice thing, although yeah fumbled in the end. I would have loved a US loco in the TC in the TSW4 era, might have tried us stuff sooner
As an aside, while the CSX SD40-2 had no services for me in Boston-Worcester with SPG installed, it DID appear, in CSX livery in Boston-Worcester (But not SPG) once I installed Cajon Pass.... Further suggesting a relationship to some kind of screwup in TSW5 too where the SPG one keeps defaulting to the BNSF version...
I think there's something not quite kosher about charging for the starter pack. Why should players have to pay a fee to update content they've already paid for when there's really little if any difference between TSW5 and 6? I mean, maybe I'm missing something here, but what will they get for a paid " update " except a couple of questionable features that aren't apparently working that well and don't necessarily work on their existing content. And is "6" necessarily better than previous versions in terms of performance? I suppose you could say, well, they've had plenty of time to download it so more fool them. But many players are not yet convinced, haven't seen a reason to get it and are sticking with earlier iterations that work better for them. Then along comes a route they really want, perhaps JT's, and now it will cost them a premium. That aside, wouldn't it generate more future sales in TSW6 among new players if the starter pack were always free? .
They don't have to be convinced, or download it. They just have to claim it. They can carry playing TSW5 or 4 or whatever, doesn't matter.
