Look I know you guys will defend DTG claiming that it's just performance issues of course because you are gen 9 console and PC players but still performance issues is NOT an excuse for add-ons to suddenly become gen 9 exclusive without warning in the first place, but by what's happening right now It's very most likely that the upcoming add-ons are going to be gen 9 exclusive, and I won't be surprised if that happens What's the point of TSW6 on gen 8 when gen 8 console players can't even play the upcoming routes So DTG it's either you make add-ons that is NOT gen 9 exclusive or you just tell us which upcoming add-ons are going to be gen 9 exclusive.
although I'm on PC (I used to play tsw on PS4, an 8th gen console) this isn't about defending DTG, but rather stating that 8th gen consoles have extremely outdated hardware (after all, they've been around for 12 years, and always remember that a console hardware is already outdated from the start because the console project development begins long before its release)
They wouldn't know which future addons are gen9 exclusive until they create it and see if last gen is able to handle it in the first place
I would rather they made it a gen 9 exclusive than them selling me something that doesn't really work on my old Xbox (if I had one) of course. The way dtg release these routes before they are even finished properly, I guess it's hard for them to decide weather they can release it on gen 8 untill the last minute.

But that was already the case with TSW5, where some tracks were not released for Gen8 consoles. And everyone expected DTG to no longer support Gen8 consoles with TSW6. But DTG did it anyway. So you already knew since TSW5 that certain tracks would no longer be available for Gen8 consoles.
And if they did release it on those platforms it would perform really crappily and then you'd be complaining about that
Matt pretty openly said in one of the streams that he was counting on everyone getting Gen 9 for GTA6 release before TSW6 and the forward support was not really intended.
Have you seriously not seen like the 4 threads about the amount of bugs on Birmingham - Crewe that have been happening to gen 9? your old console ain’t managing it if the higher end stuff can’t also for the Santa Fe pack there’s just no point for a third party to make stuff for outdated tech, like it’s a waste of resources
The Xbox One is 12 years old. For context the iPhone 5c was released the same year - can you imagine still trying to use one of them in 2025? I’m sorry but Gen 8 needs to go.

In my opinion TSW5 was the moment to drop Gen 8. TSW6 on Gen 8 is almost ridiculous. The 3 core routes with only one train each and hardly any traffic in timetable mode and probably no DLC to come for it. What was the point knowing the limitations of 12 year old hardware?
Im fed up of people winning about there 12 year old consoles they just cant handle newer get over it or buy a newer console. I save for almost year to upgrade.
It's just an extreme example of an issue plaguing the entire gaming industry; the PS4 and Xbox One refuse to die. Developers don't stop releasing games for the eight generation consoles because loads of people are still buying them, and players don't need to upgrade because developers aren't releasing many games only available on the ninth generation consoles. It also doesn't help that there are only a very small number of truly 9th gen exclusives worth playing. Astro Bot is the only one of those in my library. TSW was always bad on the PS4 and Xbox One, but now the routes are more ambitious they simply cannot cope at all. It is marginally better on the PS5 and Series X, but TSW still doesn't run well on them. PC is the only stable platform for TSW. It's ironic then that my PC is completely overkill for TSW, but doesn't run TS much better than my old PC, even though it's the game I play significantly more of.
I wonder how much of that is the supply issued COVID caused, where the 9th gen consoles took quite a while after launch to become easily findable at retail price. It wouldn't surprise me if ripples from that are still having an effect on the industry as a whole.
For all the talk of Gen 8 being outdated tech etc (and it is) it is still a pretty powerful and useful piece of kit. I recently upgraded and while I am not a massive gamer, there isn't a massive difference to the games I own between the 2. Certainly not as much of a gap between my Xbox 360 and PS4. I still use my PS4 as my bedroom console, it is still worth having.
