Or are they exactly the same as in TSW5? (If they are improved could someone please tell me how?). Thanks
Since a patch late in TSW5's life cycle and, alas, carried over into TSW6, my Formation Designer has been completely borked. I can use the designer perfectly fine (not counting some of the visual bugs - eg, certain rolling stock inside each other), but after saving a custom formation it simply doesn't appear for selection, be that in Scenario Planner or Free Roam.
Ah I'm glad I'm not alone here. I got put off the Formation Designer when it was first released because let's face it, the interface is terrible and there are far too many frustrating limitations. Just went back into it today for the first time since my last time, and spent a fair bit of time building some formations using reskins and Creator's Club content (considerably more time than I would have done doing the same in TSC), only to find that NONE of them are available in free roam or timetable mode. I even tried building one using only "officlal" content from DLC and even that didn't appear. I mean what's the point in the Formation Designer if you can't use the formations? Would be interested to know if everyone's seeing this or just a few of us, and whether it's just Steam users like me or also Epic and console users. JB
Indeed, I've just found another thread that provides the solution. The "UGCLivery Substitutions" and "UGCFormation Substitutions" options under Advanced Settings don't work properly. They're supposed to prevent AI trains from using Creators' Club liveries and formations, but what they actually do is prevent you from using them entirely. If you activate the option you'll find your formations (and see them driving around as AI trains, which is not necessarily what you want). JB
