Miami to West Palm Beach with Tri Rail and Amtrak. Amtrak actually makes quite a few intermediate stops so it's not just an end to end run. CSX operations too.
I posted a while back that I would love to see a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) DLC, though others said it wouldn't work because it was automated. Still, I love the idea. Here's a link to a previous detailed proposal: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/bay-area-rapid-transit-bart.13781/
which sucks cos then what really forces you to follow the signals ... I mean, in-game... you just follow the HUD pretty much and most of the time can ignore yellows and such, which PTC would not allow, I am pretty positive
SEPTA Paoli-Thorndale route (SEPTA would be a really good get). Stamford to New Haven so we get more of the Northeast Corridor and more Metro North. Brightline Florida (not sure on the city pairs, whatever can work) I'd also like to see a Virginia route but not exactly sure if I want part of Amtrak Cardinal route or Northeast Regional with Charlottesville.
Passenger trains wise, more northeast routes/extensions preferably NJ transit or LIRR. Frankly, since Dtg seems to do extensions only for the annual release, I’d love to see as a TSW7 core release an extended NY-Trenton by adding NJ transit coast line to it. It would also be a perfect opportunity to fix signaling on NY-Trenton!
Anything vintage/retro for me. Some of the older routes from TSC like Boston and Albany, Saluda Grade and Feather River Canyon would be great transferred into TSW. We need a high hood!!
For US routes and trains to succeed, I think a US based developer team is necessary. Brits working off Google Maps and open source drawings, data and specs do not really catch the essence. Now is seems HIS has assembled a team of veteran TSC creators and developers, there could be a change for the better. If they can avoid to get stuck it the same rut of 'up-and-down-the-mountain' using cut-copy-paste rolling stock or Western USA single track routes following the same templates that seem to prevail in TSC .... Steam era, steam/Diesel transition era, 1960's-1990's caboose era, modern or even present day? Historic and/or heritage? Licensed or free lanced? Ample choice and opportunities it seems. DTG's 'banking comm' really doesn't instill much faith But what does the customer want? Dedicated simulation enthusiasts vs casual console players? Routes are long, freight trains and slow and heavy, passenger service is sparse, high speed and high frequency commuter rail is rare? What does the frequency and discount percentage of the present routes and trains DLC tell us and DTG's marketing department?
First of all welcome on here, and all of luck with you new position. I think it's a good thing for the US players to have some one representating them. As for the question, I like to see the new Stadler Hydrogen train (ZEMU) (SBCTA/Metrolink) in game. It drives around San Bernardino, together with Stadler Flirt DMUs. I think, a part or most of the of route is already included in the San Bernardino line, so it also could be a update to the excisting route. Hydrogen trains would be new and unique to TSW and versions of the Flirt also can be used for other countries in game. Another interesting route would be an Alaska railroad, as can be seen in the Discovery Channel serie.
This is why, as I noted earlier, the gameplay style of TSW (and without flogging the horse again, single save slot) are not really suited to the more ponderous style of US freight haulage. Run 8, apart from the early MSTS graphics, does it so much better. And relatively low speed commuter routes particularly the crawl in and out of the terminii have become stale. There’s no doubt Morristown is a nicely built route but it rapidly became a boring trek, to me anyway. I do agree though that having a competent team based in the USA to do the route building rather than 3K to 6K miles away, would perhaps give better results. And one final thought for something different - how about a railroad from Alaska or maybe the White Pass and Yukon Railway. Certainly ticking the LAMPOIL for scenery, if not service frequency. Or if steam could return, Durango and Silverton or Cumbres and Toltec.
What's so interesting about this? Just another MU, of which we have a huge number in Europe. What's so interesting about the BOV? The fact that on a suburban route you're not riding a one-handed MU, and on a huge noisy diesel locomotive.
Why should DTG add any new train then, when it's just a diesel or electric MU or loco? With this attitude you can call everything not interesting.
It would be great to have Marias Pass, Montana High-Line, BNSF Scenic Subdivision or the Soo Line. Also, since there are not any Midwestern routes, I would also like to have any stretch of track with farm fields and small branch lines with grain elevators and industries for switching.
oh god, here we go again with the gatekeeping and ranting about "one handled MUs"? y know guys, the only legit trains arent only steam trains where you would have to manually shovel coal (or mine it lol), or diesels where you would have to change oil in an obscure way ... or according to such criteria, only those trains are legit and iiiinteresting that require a university degree in related fields? I mean, come on, you cant have every kind of content in every sim... if you are so hardcore, there is ZUSi, Run8 and such sims... DTG makes such content for TSW that tries to hit the right balance between enjoyment, complexity and at least some profitability, so they can hit at least a bit wider audience the pool of creators gets slowly wider, so I am sure in time there will be creators who do your chosen content... like, I had to wait like 5-6 yrs so someone finally is doing Czech route with Czech safety stuff and rolling stock (which is not the same as Slovak, but at least very close) but pls, for the love of rails, stop with that elitism and acting like one type of content or audience is somehow less valid or legit than the other
+1 I just want faithfully simulated trains as much as possible. The Arrow III certainly isn't complicated but it's really well modeled and fun to drive- that's my top priority! I try to stay open to new countries/trains because who knows what you'll like until you actually drive it? Also getting to visit places I never have IRL and maybe never will- Czechia, Portugal, Japan- yes, please!
On the other hand, it would be nice to see something that hasn't already been seen in MSTS, TSC or Run 8!
Main question obviously: are we at the mercy of DTG's infallible market research again? The LAMPOIL criteria applied, the required licenses acquired, the intended rolling stock investigated to such an extent an instant commercial success is guaranteed? I cannot remember what input I gave in last year's customer survey regarding the USA, but I enjoy playing both Run8 and RailRoader and would like a mix of both to appear in TSW.
not complicated, but fast and fun, and rumbly ... I dont have Pacer so I cant say it makes more noise but still ... also, it resembles the trains used on South Shore Line (nostalgia stuff for me - the only train in the US I had a chance to ride, when you dont count Chicago subway; tho I wasnt such a big railfan back then)
First of all, welcome and good luck ! Not a US-based user, but I'd like to share my personal wishlist here. Freight focused: - UP Mojave Sub Tehachapi Pass. - BNSF Hi-Line/Scenic Subs Marias/Stevens Passes. - CSX River Sub. - ARR Alaska Railroad. Because they're so popular! Freight/commuter: - NJT/MTA Main/Bergen Country Lines (plus NS freight). - LIRR diesel "expansion", adding Lower Montauk/Port Jefferson (featuring NY&AR/MTA diesels). Already suggested by me HERE Could add something more to what we have now! Passenger aimed: - Amtrak Keystone Corridor (maybe northern section, avoiding SEPTA) + AMTK GE Genesis pack . - Amtrak Hartford Line (featuring CT Rail diesels). Because their variety or simply... Amtrak Heritage/classic: - B&O Mountain Sub (1960s/1980s B&O/Chessie). - Feather River Canyon (same, WP/BN). - NS W Line Saluda Grade (late 80s/early 90s). - D&RGW Soldier Summit (late 80s, featuring AMTK long distance classics ). Some historic/iconic US railroads! PS. Would also love to see some Class II railroads, something like Iowa Interstate, INRD, etc.! Finger crossed !
The problem with incorporating most major urban rail centers (Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Chicago) is the apparent unwillingness of the local transit authorities to license their cfommuter RR. However, I have an idea, reinforcing Calidore and Crosstie: ...which is to do a Chicago-origin route set pre-Amtrak, and pre-METRA. Most of Chicago's commuter service was handled by the Rock Island, and the rest by the Burlington Northern, Milwaukee Road, Chicago and North Western and Illinois Central - all fallen flags whose branding is now owned by Union Pacific or BNSF: in other words, licensing should not be an obstacle. Not only that, but intercity passenger service was more frequent and more varied than Amtrak. It's I suppose worth pointing out that US railfans are far more vintage-oriented than European ones; the American market is one where a vintage route and rolling stock would really sell. Of course, the game already has an F7 and SD40; possible new engines might be an E-7 or 9, an FP-9, a GP7, 9 or 30, or an Alco PA. --------------------------------------------- Failing that, do a modern Amtrak consist with a Genesis and Superliners as a loco DLC, which layers into most existing US routes
Not 100% true. -Rock Island went bankrupt, but their right were bought by a shortline operator in 2017, so that would have to go thru them. -Milwaukee Road is owned by their Historical Society, and would have to go thru them (Mileposts TSC route shows that gaining access to that isn't guaranteed) -Illinois Central is owned by Canadian National, and DTG current license with the CN doesn't extend to their owned properties, as seen with the removed Bessemer and Lake Erie route on TSC. So that really only leaves Burlington Northern (BNSF) and C&NW (UP)
All that may be true, but a serious effort by DTG might be able to cut through the licensing weeds and enable them to produce some Chicago based content, which, given the preeminence of that rail hub, is sorely needed in TSW. I have this memory of a Rock Island F7 and bilevel cars barreling through a Chicago to Joliet urban landscape and it won't go away.
-Tehachapi Pass -Saluda Grade -Feather River Canyon -Soldier Summit USA freight needs some real love.
Well, the modern "Rock Island" is a little Class 3 operating in Mississippi, Kansas and Oklahoma, obviously trading on the brand recognition of the old CRI&P name. I suspect they would be very open to anything that might rekindle Rock Island nostalgia.
A portion of Norfolk Southern's Pocahontas division out of Bluefield yard. Metrolink Pacific Surfliner route. Obviously not all of it. its like 350 miles long lol. Tehachapi Pass in CA. Sounder route out of Seattle. Pipe dream but Metra out of the Windy city including BNSF on the racetrack. Part of the BNSF Southern Transcon through Flagstaff etc. UPs Feather River Canyon.
Feather River never ran diesel helpers/DPUs until the modern era, so any early UP or WP setting would be fine as-is.
So before contributing further to this thread, dtg_jan DTG Alex DTG Jamie as being discussed elsewhere can you confirm or deny that “candace” is in fact an AI/bot and whether or not actually associated with Dovetail?
Candace isn't a ai/bot she works for an external company called LionBridge and coordinates with the DTG community team to keep an eye on things during the times that the DTG community team isn't awake
For me the US routes I would want most would either be Stevens Pass with current BNSF or Kansas City-Topeka with Union Pacific doing 60-70MPH mainline freight runs
Canadian Rocky Mountaineer and GP40-2L LIRR Oyster Bay Branch and DM30AC Aurora to Chicago and Metra EMD F40PH Miami - West Palm Beach and Amtrak P42D
I like the old stuff, but route wise I would love to see Soldier Summit, Marias Pass, Stevens pass. Ca we also get a turbine engine? Would be great. But I think I have seen enough modern stuff right now, so let's move back in time a bit.
Without veering OT, looking at the Lionbridge site it appears they specialise in "AI" solutions... Lionbridge Translation & Localization for Global Enterprises Notably no one from DTG has popped in to deny that "Candace" or the other similar name that recently appeared as a "Staff Member" is AI.
She has a staff member tag provided by DTG, and a profile picture- that's good enough for me. Kinda messed up to accuse someone of being a bot with zero evidence imo.
New Route(license status unknown): Seattle - Everett with Sounder, Cascades and freight trains. New Route(license status present): Hudson Line to Croton-Harmon(let's be honest, no one is going to build this route to Albany) with MTA and Amtrak trains. New Loco: P42DC with long distance cars set. Route Remaster: NYT - signaling fixes, scenery remade, Princeton Branch and new timetable with Arrows and 45DP. Morristown Line Gameplay Pack: Comet V. Yeah, it will be not accurate without the other Comet's models, but it will be a thousand times better than Multilevels on services where they shouldn't be!
I would love to see a branch line freight route that has an interchange with a class 1 and the route covers all the switching of local industries. I start to fall asleep on a long haul point to point freight routes.
The Maple Leaf route by AMTRAK would give us some AMTRAK content and the lines it run on are heavily used by CSX as well. (That would be what you'd CALL the route to emphasize the Amtrak content which isn't in TSW yet, because it's a massive freight route but the Amtrak and that is unique) The Mapleleaf goes from Toronto to NYC across New York State, but the first bit would connect from Hamilton on the existing Oakville map to Niagara Falls. That's about 50 miles. Runs along the lakeshore (kind of like the Riviera Line for Canada) and there's a lot of freight traffic from the industries along the way. Lots of landmarks and it does go to Niagara Falls, including the railway bridge across the river connecting the countries. From there it opens up Western NY and into the Finger Lakes region for further expansion to Albany, where you can connect to the Boston/Providence routes eventually... or down the Hudson to the NYC routes that have expanded from there. It's good for both AMTRAK passenger as well as freight runs while connecting those areas together into one network. On the other hand, from Oakville it's just a few miles to extent to Toronto, or west from there into Canada. It's really a "backbone" line of North America for passenger and freight. Some areas like around Rochester even have multiple Class 1 railroads to choose from as they share a lot of track. You can see CSX, Norfolk Southern, BNSF and CN...as well as a plethora of smaller regional/local companies that service just a few industries but you could do liveries for just to include in the pack since we already have the stock in the game. The key thing would be getting new tracks for AMTRAK to run on. That's something we don't have. Plus, with us now using "unbranded" stock like on Peninsula why can't we revisit Oakville and add some commuter stock to Oakville to join the AMTRAK? Given a choice between NO commuter stock (and a ton of empty commuter stations) as it is on Oakville, I think people would rather some unbranded "pretend Via Rail" stuff to play with. That (again) opens up possibilities developing the Toronto commuter network of DMU, EMU, subway, etc. (Via Rail I think even bought some of the same P42DC that AMTRAK has for Via Rail use, so you could even reuse the same loco in a different livery) The bottom line is I think that it can enable a lot of future value by building on the baseline of Oakville with a "Maple Leaf/Toronto-Niagara Falls" route.
It would be nice to see the US side start getting more content in this game. Would love to see the BNSF Marias Pass & Seligman Route
Can we get more modern Locos, for example: AC44C6M ET44AC/H or ET44C4 SD70ACU Flared SD70 CSX In terms of routes, maybe the Tehachapi pass, or as I mentioned in a suggestion discussion, the Lehigh Valley Line, which services freight & passenger NJT diesel service.
Yes, I'm a bot... boop boop be booop. Dude, you're weird for suggesting that. I've been off for the weekend and doing reports.
Oh these are if I could wave a magic wand and just have the route added type of posts, so no limits, just gauging some interest.
I understand that, but I wanted to just see what folks wanted if they could have it, namely, US-based. I personally am coming in to around 600+ new messages a day, so it takes a minute to comb through all the stuff.
Not so much a route suggestion more updated TT for existing DLC for USA Would appreciate an amended TT on NEC with the Morristown DLC layered in for Arrow on the NEC along with AI along the small section to/from Hoboken and ground level Secaucus plus a single arrow car as ai for the Princeton Branch. furthermore can LIRR V2 M7 now be the layer for NEC, I don't own the original LIRR and went straight to V2 but NEC Penn station looks a little quiet and Im not wanting to spend further $$ on an old version for a line I already own in its newer form just for a layer .... Despite it being new, Freight even as static and/or AI on Morristown. Cajon Pass - AI metrolink trains from San Bernardino. Its called immersion and this game can lack it at times despite having DLCs that can mesh together! As for a new line, I kind of want to see a NEC extension from Trenton to Philly with the inclusion of SEPTA, its only an additional 30-35miles 48-56km and would allow the Acela to actually stretch its legs (maybe even add the Avelia Liberty), Morrisville Yards up to Norfolk Southern yard, Conrail junction, and the SEPTA Powelton yard/Amtrack Pen coach yard (and maybe even add the NJ Atlantic line as far as Pennsauken for service variety)..with CSX & Norfolk Southern operating on the TT Limited day, more services at night along with statics..
