Lol, my adoptive parents are Ducks, I would have to go there and take photos. Also, that's really cool about the M7. Is it like a sit and ride simulation? figured out the Crescent line from New Orleans runs all the way to NYC. https://www.amtrak.com/crescent-train I may have been watching a documentary about trains last night, and it showed it.
A rhetorical question. When approximately will we see the first results of this thread? We're already having a good time. But let's be honest, we're here primarily for results. Well, right now we're talking about frequent community requests. But they've been like this since the dinosaurs era. The New York City Subway, the Hudson Line, the Genesis, Chicago, Freight, etc. And they continue to give us commuter only routes. I'm not against good coomuter routes, but here most people are asking for something else. If someone from the DTG finds the time, please leave a note here on behalf of the DTG. So that we don't have to argue anymore about where X is and why after all these years it's not in the game. Like: no Metra license, Amtrak long distance set is financially unprofitable for TSW, freights from A to B are boring, etc.
I'm just happy I can help a little. Y'all are a great community. I've had a lot of fun so far and everyone is willing to teach me stuff and talk to me about your concerns. This is a Community Manager's dream community.
A definite thumbs up for diesel fuel. I really like the LIRR itself, but if they also offered diesel...
I can say that I'm here because the US community was not listened to nor was anyone truly invested in this community. Its hard to be invested from an ocean away. Some stuff I can see are routes-Morristown had a huge update today that just took some time-being looked into more seriously. If US players want routes that they would buy and invest in, those will definitely move to the top of the list. That basically rings true for Canada too. Based on what I've seen here and across socials North American routes are the top of the request list. Basically to me routes are a way to travel without leaving home, and give me the chance to do a job I will probably never get to do. Edit: I dont mind asking a non-community team member to chime in. I'm just going to bring all the suggestions up to them.
To be fair though, didn't they use the BR Class 450 or similar sounds from TSC for some of the LIRR and Harlem equipment. There should be enough reference material on YT which would allow the sound engineer to knock something together from existing material. And yes, MTA might not agree to DTG placing microphones all over a Subway unit on an official recording trip, but that doesn't mean (other than the risk of getting mugged) someone can't travel on the trains and discreetly obtain reference samples. There is a ready and willing audience for a NYC Subway route and it's time we heard solutions, not problems.
Actually, there Quebec French, and rest of Canada French, very different, rest of Canada French very close to International French, Quebec French is very different, in fact many French people (from France, Belgium, etc...) have difficulty understanding Quebec people, and vice-versa
It seems like you answered your own rhetorical question. You already know the reasons why we don't have long distance Amtrak, Metra, etc. because these topics have all been brought up and been addressed before. Let's look at it logically. We get two US routes a year, and we already know what they are. DTG probably also knows already what they're doing for the TSW7 open as well. So, at best, these community ideas, if anything is to come from them, would be realized sometime in 2027. And, anyone who has been around long enough has already heard about why DTG hasn't done most of these things in the first place. And who did we hear it from? Mostly, from Matt. Presumably, now that we have a community manager, we will have less interaction with Matt. I mean, if not, then what even is the point? But, if that is to be the case, then the reality is that all we have been given is an added layer to communicate with the DTG team. I don't really see how an added layer improves anything, when we previously had more or less direct interaction with the EP (although, I can certainly see how it benefits him!) Hey, I listed the routes that I would like to see too. I'm not against having some fun train talk, and even some wishful thinking. But nothing will come of it. Are you trying to tell me that DTG is going to totally change their approach to freight that has been discussed ad infinitum over several years and addressed by the EP himself in several different threads, because the new community manager wrote it down on a piece of paper? Some people even thought that Candace might be a bot, even though DTG presented her as real, because they don't trust DTG enough to tell us the truth about whether or not somebody is actually a person. That's how broken this community is. DTG doesn't even make that much US content, so why we even need a community manager to represent players who've heard it all before for the sake of content that barely exists is beyond me. Good luck Candace.
My grandfather's family immigrated from Quebec, and he would speak to me in Québécois French when I was young. All I could do was just smile and nod lol.
Kinda. Instead of spending time guessing and remembering what someone heard someday, turning this into word of mouth, it is better to get one solid official answer. Current, not 3 years ago. For example, we can compile a list of our questions on US content. Candace will pass this list to Matt (or someone else), and when they have time, they'll answer why we can't get Genesis, Chicago, freight trains, etc. Then this information can be pinned here in the topic. And then we can move on to a more productive dialogue, stopping begging for things we won't get anyway.
I would like to speak to this concept. Consider this thread from 2024: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/dtgs-stance-on-us-freight.84362/ I consider this the definitive thread of DTG and US freight, although there have been others. There is no need for guessing or remembering. It is not word of mouth. It is pretty official, and I daresay, nicely solid. Current, started in September 2024. I easily found this thread just by searching for "US freight." Granted, I already knew what I was looking for. But, then again, a lot of the things I have learned about TSW have been through searching the forum, even without knowing what I would find. Besides, even if Candace comes back with all the same answers, and posts them right here, won't this thread eventually be old as well? How often are we supposed to be sending her out to keep all the rejection fresh and timely? I also presume that if DTG was able to affect a change in any of this, like for instance they got a license for Septa or something, they would do something with it, and we would know. It wouldn't be like, hey, thanks for asking about that Metra license, turns out we actually had it but forgot, but because you had the community manager bring it to our attention let's make a route! So, while I can understand where you are coming from, I don't see the point in having the community manager go to DTG with all these old requests when everything is already answered right here in the forum, easily accessible, and reasonably current. Like I said, it can be fun to talk about, and to me it is interesting to read what others prefer and how they play. At times it has given me a different perspective on how I interact with the game. But that's as far as it goes.
As often as DTG will release new versions - annually. You denying the fact that the situation could change over the years? And no, DTG won't come and tell us about it until the new route is announced. I suggest we simply obtain an official list of what we don't need to ask for with brief explanations of why it so. Then we can start grumble, protest, complain, and finally offering something feasible. Otherwise, we will continue to ask for what we will not receive anyway. And in the end, the single request of a modest person for a new MBTA route will win.
You are starting to convince me. It might be nice to just have something to point to when we start getting the "never gonna happen" requests again. And, I suppose a yearly reminder isn't a huge ask. That made me laugh. After this Santa Fe reskin debacle, I needed a laugh. Thanks.
