I only played the 10 hour trial, but have to say it was my best experience of Xbox Series X TSW is quite some time.

Good effort from DTG. Sure there are a few bugs that even i found in that short time and the 802 needs a few tweaks, but the overall experience was really good and for the first time in a while i was really able to enjoy a route fully without any real stuttering or blurring. And i must also say that the route itself is modelled really nicely.

Nice to be able to make a post that isn't complaining or whinging like i normally am.

Maybe there is some hope for the future!!

Yes my initial impression on the Riviera was quite good & stayed that way for sometime.

Then they ‘patched’ it & now the sea doesn’t render 50% of the time.

Train faults I turned off after experiencing 30 minutes of pure hell with them on, basically having an engine or door issue every 5 minutes, then they ‘patched’ those & now the setting to turn them off seems to have no effect at all on the GWR stock.

My initial 40 hours on TSW6 (mostly on the Riviera) was probably one of the better 40 hours I’ve had out of TSW in the last couple of years. The 9 hours in total I’ve spent post patches have been awful, from botched content releases & patches that have degraded good stuff like the Riviera.

They have also pretty much nerfed, nay botched, the 150 engine sounds which makes running stopping services less than enjoyable. Particularly as in Journey mode you are unlikely to get a 166 subbing in.

Even more frustrating when you remember they made a grand speech in the Dovetail Direct about having a recording session with the real thing. I guess the person doing the mixing still failed

I think it’s in my top three routes in the entire game. Looks great, runs well, varied timetable and not had any particularly noticeable bugs that I can recall.

Yes, as a US based player who really doesn't know that part of the UK very well, I'm quite enjoying the Riviera route. Well modeled, pretty good trains and a busy timetable. Scenery is a bit mundane except when you're by the seashore, but I find that to be the case in the UK generally, pretty flat and too many trees by the rail side.

    Overall, quite enjoyable.

It never used to be like that, but sadly many routes even the scenic ones now run through something akin to a linear forest. Partly lack of maintenance by Network Rail. Partly pandering to the environmentalists by declaring it to be a nature sanctuary of sorts. Unfortunately it also has the downside of increasing issues caused by leaf-fall lack of adhesion in the autumn months which is why a fortune has to be spent on running railhead treatment trains. Plus the ever present possibility of a train getting into difficulty and literally sliding on slick rails with the potential for SPAD or even collision.

Not many UK routes where you can enjoy these kind of views though....

As I said, the scenery is much better by the shore.

I seem to remember that happening a couple years ago with a dmu near ( was it? ) Salisbury.

Yes, the train did SPAD due to low adhesion of the rails and collided with another train.
There was also another SPAD and crash due to low adhesion at Talerddig on the Cambrian line in Wales. 2 TfW DMUs collided head on after one train could not stop and slipped for over half a mile. It was reported that the train which passed the red signal had clogged sander nozzles on the leading vehicle.

I think it's a great route, lovely scenery, well-rendered, good timetable, lots to see and do.

A few more walkable areas wouldn't go amiss, but it's absolutely one of my favourites.

I'll have to revisit this route at some point. Haven't touched it in a few weeks.

The masterly doesn’t even work on this route and it looks like they won’t fix it since a beeping fence post was fixed first before adding the bomber plane back

They even try to silence you if you speak out about it the discord

It’s the best TSW DLC by far in my opinion, a route of two halves in my opinion from the high speed sections to the winding South Devon Banks. Plenty of variety and enjoyment. One of my favourite parts of the UK and represented fantastically in TSW.

A good route overall ruined in my view by some very poor track laying. There is no cant/superelevation on an 80mph curve near Dawlish Warren. It's such an immersion breaker.

Not a bad route. But again issues are there.

Quite a few locations where lineside vegetation is too close to the track.
The overbridge at Newton Abbott seems too low and you feel like you’re going to hit it from in the cab.
The mastery reward doesn’t work as the Lancaster is stuck out at sea in mid air.
After last week’s update the tide has been lowered so it’s permanently before/after high tide which means the spray/splash mod has been broken.

A rare good route for these days, which is a sad indictment of the way things have gone. I think they just have to slow down a bit with releases. I don’t want to pay 30 quid to be a beta tester.

It's a decent route but the 150 is borked, each 150 spawns in as 150261, the sounds are awful now and the speed limit isn't capped at 75mph.

The flask wagons do but they use the DRS 66 instead of the 20.

With reference to my previous post about superelevation in curves. This photo from 1966 is the curve in question. Completely flat track in the game.

This photo just reminds me that I'd love a backdated version of the route to come out with the proper Western stock running along it. A 1950's version would have many differences compared to it's modern counterpart, Newton Abbot is unrecognisable back then compared to how it is now! It would definitely be worth doing and a good pick for a potential return to steam locomotives in TSW. Could even do the extension to Kingswear in the 1950's version.

Fife Circle and WSR have a nice section of coast but nowhere near as good as the Riviera line.
