I don't mind a little longer or as long as it take. Just as long as its playable on console .

I have to commend you because if I was constantly seeing comments like that, I'd just think "what's the point?" and shelf it.

Mind, doesn't help I find it more difficult to work on something lots of people know about.

Well I'm outraged that Liam hasn't made it to Fishguard yet.
He really needs to pull his finger out and get on with it.;)

If I have to say anything against Liam's effort, it's that this really should've been kept under raps for a much longer period of time. I do have to say all the hype for this has died down for me with how long this has taken, and I can't imagine I'm the only one with that thought. Would also stop people from getting annoyed at how long it's taking since they wouldn't know about it.

To be clear, I still think this project will be solid, I look forward to messing with it the day I get around to TSW6 (or probably 7 the rate everything's going). But it's hard to remain excited for something for, what two years at this point?

In all honesty I completely agree myself and understand the frustration the long wait can cause. The project was announced around TSW 5's launch as it was on track to be complete around then. Unfortunately a few things did cause delays which bought the project closer to TSW 6. On the upside of this, we do now have the 802 and 220 in the new timetable and more route improvements than originally planned. I'm hoping we can share a release date soon.

Yes I’ve tended to hold off doing anything else with GWE/DLOGW in anticipation of this.

Liam has done (or finishing off) his bit. However, I have to say, as this will be a route where it would be great fun to keep staying in the game by returning to free roam and doing a driver’s day picking up a fresh service rather than going back to the timetable we absolutely need the chained run save game sorting. Liam, is there any way you can bring pressure on Matt P. to elevate this into a priority for “engineering” to solve? Not just for this route but all the others where remaining in a persistent world would be desirable.

There are people who purchased TSW5 for this pack, there are people who would have done the same for TSW6, we still don't have a release date yet despite being told for over a year "Hopefully before Christmas."

Which Christmas? If it gets delayed again will it suddenly be only available for TSW7, It's not free if people have to keep purchasing the latest iteration of the game in order to play it.

You say you've tried to make it playable for Console users and is now with the Beta team, are any of them testing it on console? I've every right to be cynical about this regardless if it's free or not.

In my line of work even if I do something for free I'm still expected to have a high standard of work and be held accountable if it doesn't work. This is exactly the same situation.

If that is the case, then that is on them. Wait for it to come out would surely be the solution before spending money.

TSW5 and 6 were free upgrades anyway so shouldn't have cost them anything.

My advice, ignore these people. They're never happy.

Honestly, the wait will be worth the effort given what you've done with it.

I am only sharing my hope for Christmas. GWE remaster will be ready when Liam is happy with it, but I know it will be well worth the wait.

If people bought TSW 5 for this pack then they would have gotten the upgrade to TSW 6 for free. I have always said the date is what I would like to see on a personal level, but people higher up in DTG get final say on the date. Although I can say with confidence they want to see this released as soon as it can while being in the best state, which requires QA and beta team to go through it all and for me to make any fixes needed.

There are console users who play through new content and report issues they find.

Which is exactly why this isn't out now. The route and timetable has been made to what I think should be the benchmark standard, with any issues all being accountable to me. The timetable is one of the biggest for a UK route (I believe just short of BML) and not made in DTG time. So it takes longer for it to go through QA, for me to fix an issue and then for it to be retested and marked as fixed.

I only state it's free as if this was a paid product getting delayed for over a year I'd empathize more with you. But I don't believe being as cynical as you about something you're getting for free, as an update to an 8 year old route fully made in my spare time, is justified.

So because it's free I can't be cynical? If I hadn't spent hundreds of pounds on the game since it's launch on console I'd agree, but I have. This was one of the flagship announcements for TSW5 and then we can go months without any announcement at all, that we have had third parties get announced, route announced and launched in the time since the initial announcement isn't a good thing.
Hell, we've even had a new version of the game since then.

Free or not, that's not great.

Quizzically, what exactly are you expecting to achieve with your repeated posts here? You've made your discontent at the situation heard. It's reasonable to be sceptical about whether or not the route will run well given the state of the game, but that's kind of the only thing. The state of the overall game is an issue, not an unreleased upgrade which you know nothing about. It's not down to Liam to fix the game's core and repeatedly bringing it up here does nothing to fix the situation.

Could the original announcement have been handled better? Absolutely. I think everyone is frustrated with how long it's taken, not least Liam who has been very upfront with communication (within what I assume are quite tight limits set by DTG). Why you're now complaining about the quality of something that isn't even out yet is beyond confusing. Lets not forget that even if it does end up with a reduced timetable on Gen 9, it will be a damn sight more compelling than the currently available timetable.

How exactly did the GWE remaster come about again? Who started it? How many hours have gone into it? How many unpaid man hours have gone into it?

Started right after the WSR remaster released. GWE was picked as I wanted to improve my timetable and route building skills on something busier, which prepped me for starting my own 3rd party. As for hours it's all been outside of DTG time, probably in the 100's.

Ignoring all the cries and tantrums from some…

Hey Liam! Very excited for this, what can you tell us about the 387’s features as a layer? Were you considering adding it as an included route loco? Will the TPWS and safety systems hazard lights illuminate? (I understand this was a bug in BML).

The amount of time and work that has gone into this remaster is second to none. I can tell you that from first hand experience whilst testing it out. The fact that this will be a free remaster upon release is even more amazing. I think its genuinely payware worthy and is something I'd certainly be happy to pay for.

    Anyway, I digress.

Also, don't forgot Liam is doing it in his spare time and also has many other things to be juggling around and will be working on. A definitive release date is not important. It will be ready when its ready. However, from what I have seen, we are very nearly there now.

While I am sure everyone (including Liam) would have wanted this to be out sooner, the delay doesn't detract from the fun we will all inevitably have playing the remastered GWE route upon release. In some ways, the delay is a good thing because now the voyager and 802 will be present (though I am still to buy Riviera). Hopefully the QA and beta teams will have it tested thoroughly so console players can get straight to playing it upon release, rather than being affected by performance issues - really glad to hear it is nearly there! :)

I can quite happily see the majority of forum members and players are very grateful and excited for this add on (I'm not just saying this, but it's certainly on par with GTA 6 on my want list I can tell you!). I hope that the odd bad apple doesn't reflect how appreciative the majority of the community are. No matter how successful you are in anything you put your hand too, there will always be a cynic unfortunately. And I hope Liam knows the majority of the community are behind him on this... Keep going and ignore the odd comment that isn't reflective of the majority!

I've said how I feel about this several times over the life of this thread so I won't repeat myself again like a broken record, but I'm full of praise for Liams work. And for a freebie? You really could not ask for more.

One question I do have, is, will the GWE update be getting a preview stream before it is released? I think it deserves the platform to be able to show off its brilliance in the flesh shortly before release and give us as a community one last piece of excited anticipation!

I'm sure that most of us are very grateful for Liam's effort and look forward to its release.

But.....there's always more than one way of looking at something, always another opinion, and no-one should be verbally shouted down for voicing his/her point of view, even if we disagree with it.

And if this remaster is in the hands of the QA team at DTG, recent experience doesn't fill me with confidence that they will weed out any issues or apply a polish to the finished product before release.

It's been a long time coming, but since there's nothing we can do to hasten the release, let's sit back and wait patiently.

But if someone is impatient and has doubts about something, he is entitled to feel that way and share those feelings in the forum. Not everyone feels warm and fuzzy all the time.

Anyway, the GWE route has always been a favorite of mine and I'm anxious to see how much better it can be.

Thanks again, DTG Liam, for taking the time and giving us what we hope will be a fun Christmas morning.;);)

You are doing a fantastic job Liam.

I am excited for the update to release. Hopefully in the distant future someone will endeavour on a Reading to Bristol and Oxford so we can do a full run with the HST.

Hopefully the HST will get AP physics if that ever happens though.

Liam, thanks for your work, I'm really looking forward to the release. I just wanted to clarify one more question: will the Diesel Legends get a new schedule? And could we see the Class 33 on it?

Yeah, that was one of mine.

No new updates to the Diesel Legends timetable.

I think it will get a stream. Unsure if it'll be a preview one or something on/after release to show the changes.

I can't remember if those were fixed as the 387 upgrades were done a while back. The 'GWR styled' 387 won't be getting a layer in the timetable but will be spawnable in freeroam. This is so we have space to add an official GWR 387 if one is released now we have the GWR licence back.

If I'm putting the tinfoil hat on, that does remind of when Rivet Games Tyler said they left gaps in the 170 timetable on Birmingham Cross City for a Voyager in case it ever gets added, but I'm not gonna assume it's a hint. Probably just a general statement

I'd like to see timetable gaps added for any possible train, even if it's not likely to come out until TSW 19. That way, when stock does come out, it can appear more places where it should, like the Voyager. I appreciate there's probably a limit to this but it is something DTG have started to do more and more and it's a really positive step.

So does that mean, even if we own it, we won’t be able to drive real services? I was sure, given the photos posted, that it would appear as Paddington to Hayes and Harlington services in the timetable.

Further tinfoil hat time, it was going to be, but got left out for a reason. The real one.

(I'm just joking about, please don't take this or my previous post seriously :))

If an official GWR 387 was coming out it would be the preferable option over the non branded one it has to be said...

My niggling question is though, what would its limitations be on the GWE route, as the route set in the time period it is, is only electrified to Airport junction? And as GWR now operate the Heathrow Express on behalf of BAA, could that mean an official Heathrow Express brand would come in the same pack?

I personally hope not since we've had Riviera line recently and another GWR route released in such a small space of time would feel like a kick in the teeth.

However I definitely wouldn't rule it out for sometime in the future, as you'd be able to get the 802 all the way up to 125 miles an hour.
