The 86 still has some outstanding issues that JT haven't fixed. Namely the wheels off centre relative to the axle boxes and frames. Plus the Mark 2F interiors which aesthetically are slightly the wrong shade of magnolia but more important in certain lighting conditions the whole interior takes on a bluish tinge.

I do like JT & they’re easily the highest quality content we see for TSW, but they do fall down on post release support & generally doing updates - same thing as the 86 not being touched, the BPO update seems to be on ice also.

That’s where packs like the TFW 142 are falling down for me, if there was a good chance this pack would see better usability in the future I’d be more excited for it, but going from previous lack of updates, I don’t see it happening.

Just as a heads up we're internally testing a build of the 86 at the moment before we pass it over to Dovetail to make sure we're happy with it.

I don't know if it has been brought to the team's attention elsewhere but when it's a snowy environment the interior of the Mk2s have a snow effect pattern in the vestibules and the passenger cabin. I only saw this a few days ago as generally been doing summer running, or not riding cushions :)

Interesting that Toms said on the JT stream this was planned as soon as they found out CCN was in development. So I'd imagine stuff was drawn up and started before CCN was cut down?

Apparently Development started in January and it was ready as of June but was held because of the queue for DTG to test stuff etc. :)

Since all the propaga... I mean ambassadors are not showing console versions (guys like The British Ace used to), I'm assuming the ps5 and series versions introduce the blurry textures to the route. The last times TBA didn't show console footage were Birmingham to Crewe and Mildmay Line, and we all know how those came out.

This is a firm wait and see what condition it releases in before purchase. Hopefully my doubts are just that and I don't have to wait for a steep discount

DTG said that they will not be providing early access to ambassadors for console anymore, that’s why they’ve all switched to PC.

Yup & you can bet it’s because of the god awful state of console builds right now.

Did anyone else notice that the announcements on the modernised Class 142 sounded like Windsor Davies in 'It Ain't 'alf Hot Mum'?

Not through blurry textures no. Most of the time the consoles version have an earlier version of the dlc uploaded that may or may not work properly or as intended, that won't usually get updated with the release version to the night or morning before. Its annoying, as I want to show you guys on consoles what its like before you buy. But thats just how it is at the mo. PC steam builds can be updated multiple times in a day, consoles can't as they have to go through certification as I understand it.

At the moment i haven't had time to download the PS5 version, as i have been to busy with bits and work.

On Just Trains stream they said they are trying to work it out with DTG to allow them to be spawned in free roam and formation designer. I wonder if it is a licensing or commercial issue?

with all due respect don’t you get your content for free for uploading it to your tube or do you actually pay for it.

if you get it for free then I take zero notice of anything you would say as you won’t bite the hand that feeds you so to speak if you get content free. I am sure I have saw you say you get free content before if I am wrong I apologise however.

edit: yup just had a look so you get content for free sorry but you are just a glorified salesperson who will show stuff off tell us to go and buy it.

To be fair, Tony is one of the more balanced reviewers and has not been afraid to offer criticism in the past.

The only way to get preview footage is via Ambassadors etc., who will inevitably have a complimentary copy of the product.

Which is why I always wait for the DLC to hit retail and get an overview from that of how good or bad it may be.

In this case, I suspect the train model is spot on, it’s the lousy route they chose to release it on which (to me) makes it worth less than half the asking price.

I make up my own mind by using my eyes and ears, something I would have thought most people would do.

I like the way ambassadors present their streams but they don't influence my decision, neither do any streamers.

They can be critical, British Ace was getting very frustrated with the blurring when playing the Crewe to Birmingham route.

Have you thought there might be a problem that isn't the fault of DTG?

I am on steam and can't purchase it till this evening, I won't be throwing my toys out of the pram!

Ida. Streamer mentions they get a product for I just dislike the video and find one from a genuine user who has paid for it. Thankfully a few of them around that pay and will be positive and negative

If you think that the price is too high then I feel you need to reevaluate your precipitation on how much things cost to produce.
It’s a JT product so the quality is likely to be high and it’s a fair price for a new timetable and an updated train in my opinion. Had it just been a pure reskin I’d have seen the argument for a sub £10 price point.
Regarding the route I absolutely love it and the shortness of it and it falls into the category of a “lunch hour” route and still have time to eat.

£19.99 was far too much for the 86/2 especially given that it came with no new services let alone a new timetable, although I have picked it up this week in the Black Friday sale for £14.87 and it feels value for money at this price point rather than a bargain you’d usually associate with a 25% discount.

Nope I get an early access copy.

Well thats your loss at the end of the day. As for "scared of biting the hand that feeds me", If I got given £5.00 everytime some ill informed person said that, I would be rich. I have said many a time in my streams what I think of DLC if I think its not good. But seeing as YOU wont watch ambassador's streams you wouldnt know.

ah another person to quote the illustrious words. Again not wishing to repeat myself you dont watch the streams so how would you know. At the end of the day you do whats good for you. Wanna be an osterich, so be it.

We do, that doesn't mean we don't like trying to find other takes, I've found out about bugs and even neat features that I'd have overlooked because I went out of my way to read others opinions.

Don't assume everyone taking in others opinions are using it as a substitute of their own, lot of us don't.
I don't agree with that, it has some model alterations, but at the end of the day much of the core simulation is going to be the same between the two. And as far as I'm aware 3D modeling's actually one of the easier things to do in a simulator, it's usually the physics and systems modeling that take most of the time.

A new timetable's nice, but we've also gotten at this point dozens of free timetables released across multiple routes. Some of which being quite major reworks like Rapid Transit & Bakerloo, at this point I find it hard to justify a paid timetable when the bar has been set so high for free ones.
That's not how people like me play it though, if I'm playing TSW I'm sitting down for at least a hour to do so. Good for you that it works out, but even here it seems most want at least 30 minute to hour long runs if average service lengths are anything to go by, that's short even by those standards.

+1. I hate to keep going on about CCN but it really is the worst UK route DTG have released in terms of size and quality. Could have been so much more. So releasing a £12.99 add on, even if done by JT, is adding insult to injury. It’s not as if the pack has subsided any improvements or extensions to the route, from DTG’s share of the (hopefully small) pot.

The Coryton to Radyr runs on the new timetable are over 30 minutes long.

The new timetable has a new service pattern which for me makes it interesting. The ATW 142 has a lot of changes for which I'm not qualified to judge how much they should or should not charge.

I'll certainly get my £13 out of it.

I think there are some that are simply finding faults for the sake of it...

Whether you like it or not, ofcourse there will be similarities between the older variation and newer variation. What was you expecting a completely new cockpit and rockets? It was the same train that has had minor updates to bring it up to modern standards. And that is what has happened, no more, and no less. No one is forcing you to buy it and it's only for one route. If you don't like it, leave it end of.

I think there seems to be an overspill from the frustration of the ongoing core issues that has started to find it's way into every other DLC. There are still some major issues with the core, but that has absolutely nothing to do with third party content.

Funny enough, as I've said in another thread, I wouldn't of touched the original CCN with a barge poll outside of its layering abilities for other routes, but this updated 142 is pretty good actually and I've picked it up. It actually gives the small diarama that CCN is some heart, soul and life! And adds a nice modern 'nodding donkey' to the route. It has certainly drawn me in a bit more.

My only criticism has nothing to do with he 142, but the actual route could do with a touch up to bring it up to standard. Outside of the that I'd personally recommend the 142 it's a good little add on, nicely built, and adds some 'branch line' style driving to the game.

Actually, I think some of the ambassadors do an important job. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't see much at all without purchasing it. The DTG streams these days are not terribly useful, especially when they only run under certain conditions to hide things.

If you don't like the ambassadors, turn the volume down. At least you still getto see more of the route.

I'm definitely getting this at the weekend. I really like Cardiff and, from what I've seen, the timetable is a lot more interesting than the original (with layers).

In what universe does observing it's just the Pacer with few other changes take any serious effort?
If you're going to sell it for $20, yes actually, the TSG E94 is actually the prefect example of doing a variant in this game in my book. In fact over on the Just Flight side of things you have them doing things like the Avro RJ & Fokker 100 which are exactly as you describe. If you're going to offer variants they should actually be significantly different to even the layman, something all of those listed I feel do.
And no one's forcing you to engage with such posts, the opposing opinion's just as valid as yours.
Some certainly, but not me, it just goes back to the problem I always have with this game, developers sticking too far in their comfort zone. They'll do cheap variants that add nothing to the game instead of putting in more effort to offer something more interesting. I remembered getting the GP40-2 for the extra $2 it cost and thinking all the way back then "This is basically just the GP38-2 again, why'd they waste their time" even back then.

This is about consistency for me, I don't like it when DTG pump out a dozen German locos that look and feel basically the same. Far as I'm concerned it would be hypocritical of me to turn the other cheek to JT doing the same practice here.

Of which a fairly large percentage is probably spent at under 20 MPH or doing the 400 yard bus stop hops on the Coryton branch. Barely get into Notch 5 before the brakes go in again.

Still, you can always jump off quickly at Cardiff Central to admire the beautiful frontage and concourse, oh hang on...

Is the game not supposed to be replicating what a real driver does? Surely that means having a mix of high speed routes and low speed routes and everything in between. Driving slow sections is a different challenge and as much part of a drivers daily experiences as speeding along at 100mph.

This is why I fear we won't get route like the WHL or Cambrian as top many people will complain they are boring to drive due to lower speeds or sparse timetables.

They don’t say “nope” when asked.

like I said the people who get it free I don’t take their reviews seriously. The people who review it whom PAY I will always take there review seriously.

I think the "nope" was in regards to your "or do you actually pay for it" at the end of your question

I can only speak to what I have seen with my own two eyeballs, and heard with my own two ears... But Hentis & Trainsimulatordriver often point out issues and bugs, get frustrated when things aren't working properly and again draw attention to it and also point out every time that DTG provided them the DLC being shown off.

It could be argued that the people who buy a DLC just to 'review' it and then immediately refund it and get their money back also technically got it for free as they didn't actually spend any money... Well they did but then got it back so did they *really*
