Any route set in the 70's or 80's involving a class 33 would be a day one purchase for me. Although any route set in that period would.

Definitely would love an early 80's North Wales coast, we have much suitable stock already. A Chester based 103 and a class 25 would be great as DLC.

Absolutely, Chester and Llandudno Jn were always interesting sheds! Loved the Park Royals on that route. It was a proper 25 & 40 playground too!

…we’re allowing ourselves to ‘dream beautiful dreams’ again. The opinion on Discord is that the Class 197 is the motive power of choice for this part of the world !!

Practically every era up to 2000 is worth having, the closer to 2000 the more 2nd generation Sprinter and Pacer units can get involved. Go ultra modern and it's a one handled snooze fest.

And sadly that’s probably what we will get if DTG do another Welsh route. I mean, I’ve seen the 197’s up close at Gloucester and Cardiff and they look and sound nice enough. But the driving experience would be another tiny letterbox cab window with the traction sound barely audible in the cab and probably badly looped at that.

Sitting here behind a pair of 218s screaming in real life as I type. Happily pay for something decent from the past. No way would pay £29.99 to have a 197 along the North Wales Coast when so much has gone before those things....

TFW would unveil a new fleet tomorrow & it would be the only thing many would be interested in. It’s getting more & more common on threads discussing routes to see people just wanting the most modern thing. Gets abit boring & I imagine said people are the ones that just move onto the next bit of new content anyway.

Honestly I dread the day TSW gets one of the new CAF MU’s, they’ll just start spewing it everywhere, much like how we keep seeing IET’s as mainline traction in game now.

Personally I accept that there’s an incredibly high chance a NWC route will be modern, I just hope they at least go for the 175 era, the view would be wasted on 197’s.

The 104 would be great and more useful but there is something I love about the lesser known/smaller classes. Would love a class 100 too with a nice Norfolk/East Anglian branchline and a J15. But I'm dreaming again.

Unless JT goes the Wales route (which would be fun!) I can see them going East across from Carlisle then down the ECML to fill in the gaps to connect the other routes already in the game (and from the 1980s) It would all fit together nicely (Tees Valley, etc) Or they shoot up to Scotland to connect to Edinburgh already in game twice. Another route from the south wouldn't be the worst idea given Edinburgh is already well established so that's far less to create. I think that was one of the concerns with Settle was the amount of urban area and tracks to create fresh as I recall.

    Here's what I'd do...
    Carlisle to Newcastle.
From there South to York (and connecting Tees Valley)
    or
North to Edinburgh (connecting Glasgow and Fife Circle)
Makes good sense for them and also benefits players and DTG since it's connecting so much of the network.
Opens up a lot more possibilities for sales of old DLC and new DLC in addition to the routes themselves too.
I'm sure the UK railfans can fill in the details of what/when but if they stay in the normal JT 1980s era, that opens up a lot of options going into those areas.
It gives the whole team a direction to move so it's a lot easier to plan far ahead too.

    Can't speak for them though.
I'm not opposed to them moving around Wales and the West Coast.
Opening up the side routes off of the mainlines like Morecambe and such would also be appreciated by fans.

The point is to build value by keeping things coherent and building on a successful foundation.

They have made Cumbrian coast as a freeware TSC route and they know the area so that could be a contender. We really would need a class 108 (with the window bars) then, unless set post 1990. I don't know how interesting it would be traffic wise although there were some freights and some parcels went that way. A scenic route with traditional signalling still in the 80's.

Has had some alterations around Whitehaven and the like due to rationalisation but in the main its as it was. Barrow Station got a fair few Semaphores iirc

I had a similar experience spotting in 3rd rail territory when a thumper rocked up for Temple Meads, that was definitely not missed.

Ok folks so I know I keep dropping in then buggering off for days on end, things are very hectic here and it is hard to find time to spare on forums - especially as I'm trying to finish my current projects off before anything releases and steals my time (the 86 release this year easily stole a few dozen hours minimum that I should have spent on projects).

So, I'm a little concerned. I have no doubt that the route will be released but I am a bit worried given that JT have not been posting updates to their own site like they had previously with regular (almost fortnightly) progress reports, they did one last week but that was the first one since the route was announced and coincided with a DTG post. Maybe DTG is tightening the reigns on what can and can not be shared, though that in itself is a dangerous road to go down as it could put off future developers.

The other thing is that Train Sim TV, who had been involved in both Blackpool Branches and the Shap route would normally have begun to post their first few teaser videos in the month leading up to release and so far it's radio silence which sadly suggests that it ain't coming out in the next few weeks :/

Also DTG, give TSTV some kickbacks, it was watching their previews of Blackpool Branches that made me decide to buy TSW4 and eventually shell out a few hundred notes on DLC ;)

That said, I am sure it's not far off, it's still within the 0-3 month window though I just hope they don't knock it back and certainly not for BS reasons like it clashing with something else or "console optimisation issues"... I have complete faith in JT to deliver, hopefully soon :)

I do agree with you I haven't seen any Dev updates for either popping up from JT.
Although the yearly release slot will have been altered somewhat I'd imagine by them doing the TFW Pacer and the 86.

This is really the TSW6 DLC I'm waiting for. But it's also the one im most worried about getting hit by core issues

Yes, that is what I thought as well. They've worked on a fair bit more over the past 12 months (that we know of, anyways). I reckon we'll see the DLC in February time.

Better than them rushing it. The only reason their other two routes are as good as they are is because they didn't rush.

I think you're in the wrong thread, this route is Preston to Crewe and is under development by Just Trains, it won't release until 2026.

Well, an update just dropped and it is NICE!

    https://www.justtrains.net/in-development/west-coast-main-line-crewe-preston

So that's the 47/3 and a revamped 20 so far, assuming the £30 mark that's not looking like bad value, plus the new route, through lines at Crewe clearly recognisable in the preview shots and the canopy details look fantastic. Definitely getting a little hyped for this route now, a 47/3 from Blackpool to Crewe on a passenger is going to be great fun.

JT focused a lot on DTGs biggest problem and that's texturing, it really is a night and day difference here.

And more 47 liveries? Just Trains are really hard at work on this, props to them for yet again, another good looking DLC.

It's very evident on who has done their homework, and who hasn't.

That Rail freight grey is a lovely surprise!

Kudos to JT here, not only have they textured and updated the 47 extensively, but they have also updated the audio, which is a nice, an unexpected but very welcome surprise. This sort of puts Athenas updated 47 to shame really... Very excited for this!

Whilst this will feature passenger operations, I think the concentration on BR freight with this add on is what excites me most, as we haven't had any since Tees Valley. Stunning work, and it doesn't disappoint as always with JTs content.

This definitely wouldn't be my first choice for a route, but it actually looks quite interesting. None of JT's previous routes had blurry textures for me, and if this one doesn't it might be worth a buy.

Now JTs have released their tfw class 142 pacer, this route release will not be far away. Hopefully in time for Christmas which would be a lovely present.

I would be extremely surprised to see this out before Christmas. I'd guess it'll end up being Jan-Mar next year.

(Not to say I wouldn't love it to come out before Christmas, mind!)

Tend to agree. If it was imminent, we would be seeing more build up. In fact, if I was a betting man I'd wager 20p more likely to be March - April so as not to collide with the seasonal Steam sale and a possible Festival Of Rail event which DTG have done in February the last few years.

Of course there's always the chance it could be the big reveal (somewhat better than last year's Thomas) on their 12 days of Christmas event.

Love that they have completely redone the 47 so really looking forward to seeing how the new sounds and everything are! Really nice to see another logo as well!

If they've given this much love to the 47 I can't wait to see the 20! Just trains really are just consistently aiming high and it's always so good to see!

I just really hope by the time this releases DTG have stepped up their work on core fixes.

Looks fantastic, really looking forward to it! The JT BR era content is what got me into TSW and what keeps me playing TSW.

Tom from JT mentioned that they prefer to have people buy their routes directly from the JT site, which I'll probably be doing on release day. Is anyone else intending on buying from the JT site or from Steam?

This looks amazing work by JT. If they could animate the opening roof louvres then I think I’d lose my mind!

    I wonder how much of
Crewe they will model. Has it been mentioned already whether they have modelled down to Basford Hall?

I was severely disappointed by the shambolic release of B2C, so trying not to get my hopes up about the performance of this route on my humble XBox S. Most routes have been very stable for me on TSW6 compared to TSW5, and I would take blurry textures over a full on crash to desktop any time. I would much rather the time was taken to fully optimise the route for consoles over an earlier release date.

I think they've mentioned a lot of the sidings/freight only lines around Crewe, if not all will be in this route. I think performance may be a challenge around Crewe, but it's the nature of be beast unfortunately.

On another note: it looks like some sounds have been sourced for the 85 being made for TSC, sounds amazing given the difficulty in finding good original material to work with. Perhaps if JT can get in touch with the person supplying the audio and get permission to use it, then it paves the way for a future 85 pack?

Agreed, for us PC Steam players. More money goes to the developer, and reward points to save up for future purchases (Pacer cost me just over a tenner).

Don't know about refund policy, but given the quality of their routes and trains so far, not an issue for me.

I wish every loco came with multiple liveries. It feels like such an obvious way of creating variety without wholly new trains.

Out of curiosity, how many different liveries did the Class 47 carry in real life, and how many (including what we'll see with this route) is there in TSW?

Too many to list, out of all the TOPs classes I would say the 47 has probably carried the most liveries. With how versatile and numerous they were, pretty much all the sectors had at least a few 47s at some point. The only sector I can think of that never had a 47 in its livery was LSE 'Jaffa Cake', but later on NSE certainly had a number on GWML semi fast turns. Then of course there's various celebrity liveries like Stratford's Silver Jubilee 'Union Jack' livery.

Edit: Another exception was the later regional railways livery - but the earlier 'provincial' sector certainly had a few 47s in it's livery

I imagine pacer and 101 will be layered in? Alongside 08? Or are there different ones built for this route

Very similar layers to WCML OS I'd expect.
