December 2025 - Roadmap Or Season Of Reveals?

It's December next week, so I thought I'd ask the question; are we going to have a season of reveals again like last year, or will it just be a roadmap like a normal month?

 

Next week it looks like there's a charity stream and a preview stream for that German routes, with no mention of a roadmap.

Last time, the "big reveal" last time was so anticlimactic, and as there wasn't a proper roadmap in which important questions could be asked about fixes for the game, so I personally hope there isn't a season of reveals this year, unless the big reveal is a route with a class 455 on the 21st (the farewell tour date).

Thomas and friends are back this time with sonar island.

 

It's a shame they didn't make an Island of Sodor game to learn UE5 rather than Metro Rivals.

 

Oh god no… no more fictional stuff. I’d rather just stick to real routes and loco’s. I wouldn’t mind Hogwarts Express though if we do get another fictional route. That’s got great potential if it does happen. it would be amazing if done right. I would definitely buy.

 

A separete game dedicated to Thomas would actually make a lot of sense. Can market it to kids, and keeps Thomas out of TSW for those that don't like it for whatever reason. Sounds like it would have been a win win to me

 

DTG’s take on Hogwarts Express would be a three sides of the bedroom model railway. Long side of the room Platform 9,75. Short wall Glenfinnan Viaduct diorama. Other long side of the room Hogsmeade station. Hall Class steam loco with DCC physics, that will be £35 please! (Not kidding, have you seen how much some of the Harry Potter Lego sets cost?!).

And the thing is, if I understand the lore correctly, the Hogwarts Express cannot really share tracks with other trains on a modern railway. The presence of intense magic suppresses any electrical devices which would affect signalling, AWS and any other electrical systems on the steam loco and coaches. That’s why, during the final battle for Hogwarts, no one could pick up the phone and call in the army or RAF to bomb Voldemort into the Stone Age!

 

Not forgetting to add Ron and the Weasley twins in their flying Ford Anglia chasing after the train.

The only UK steam I envision are modern day excursions with the restored and mainline certified heritage locomotives.

Most of all I'd like to see any rebuilt Bulleid Pacific of Merchant Navy or Battle of Britain/West Countries class.

 

And Yegods can you imagine the juvenile presentation on the stream. Even worse than normal. All dressed up as HP characters. The question being… who at DTG is Dumbledore and who is Voldemort (maybe the latter a visiting suit from focus Entertainment).

 

Only reveal I want is when what we already have will work reliably without blurred textures, AI SPAD and quality assurance carried out.

 

Season of reveals was hyped already in november roadmap last year, so it's safe to assume it's not returning this year. Just the regular roadmap will be in second week as it's usual when monday is 1st.

 

I hope to god it’s just a roadmap, I don’t want another season of disappointments

 

I’m not saying this just to bash DTG but in my opinion that season of reveals was a complete flop and very anticlimactic.

It makes sense, the roadmap is still well filled with things for early 2026, and last December wasn’t really a success. Rather, it was a dramatic mistake by DTG. I also believe it’s perfectly fine to announce things through the roadmap.

 

I sincerely hope it's a roadmap like in all the other months, if there's one thing this community definitely DOESN'T need, it's another season of disappointments

a disclaimer: the only cool thing that came out of the "season of reveals" was the F59PHR (my favorite loco among all those in TSW, the only dlc I was truly excited for the release of, counting down the seconds until I could get my hands on it)

So there's plenty of variety in trains,
the times vary depending on which trains run and when,
and the crowding of passengers.

 

I think they'll have something planned for December, whether it's a new Season of Reveals or something else. I don't mind what they do either way really.

Last year, I was hoping the big announcement was the return of steam era content as it was the only thing I could think of that was worthy of being the BIG thing. Well we did get a new steam locomotive but I certainly wasn't expecting that twist, I was absolutely howling with laughter when Thomas got announced.

This year, I'll just be hoping for any news on steam traction again. It was hinted that TSG was working on something steam related, maybe a locomotive reveal will come over the Christmas season?

If they're going to do a reveal event this year, I imagine they'll announce it this week, possibly on roadmap day.

 

Nice but complete unrealistic! Way to long and area that is way to difficult to build or the FPS is going wild....

I’d prefer the roadmap with dates of releases announced for those expected to be completed by the middle of January. They could do something like an advent calendar with a release date announced every day and suprises for the future

It is basically a separate game now since they have a Thomas edition in addition to the Thomas DLCs, which no one has to buy. I don't understand all the problems people have with Thomas. I think the reason it was put in TSW was to give the young players a hook for getting into the bigger game later. I have no problem with that and it's good marketing for TSW and DTG.

 

I think the main problem with Thomas is that a wide percentage of the players aren't interested, and dtg ought to have had the foresight to realise this. Unfortunately they didn't and they ended up shooting themselves in the foot by hyping something up that the majority of people they hyped it up to didn't want or care for

 

A few days ago, a DTG post appeared somewhere that mentioned some big upcoming events.
An event could be the in-depth reveal of Metro Rivals is certainly just around the corner (I'm guessing it'll be released no later than March or April).

 

I'm placing no expectations on DTGs December announcements, so I can not be disappointed when the said expectations don't happen.

I think we should all live by that after last years anticlimactic ending!

Although, it would be a very nice end to the year if the GWE Remaster was dropped before Christmas...

 

The problem isn't Thomas.

Its that everyone thought it'd be what they were hoping for and basically set themselves up for disappointment.

I wasn't really expecting Thomas either (still bought it though because obviously I would), but wasn't disappointed that it was.

Via Amsterdam zuid that could be possible with ICNG, (5 & 8 coaches variant) ,or i'm suggest Amsterdam zuid - Amersfoort + a branch to Lelystad that's around 95 km in global with the ICNG,SNG and maybe a vectron NS

Seasons of reveals leading up to Toby from Thomas and friends. Only this time you get a free Toby carvery with the purchase of Toby.

 

Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with Thomas being in TSW whatsoever. It’s a great entry point for younger audiences. I know I would’ve been hyped for it had this come out 30 years earlier.

The character and series itself is a British icon in pop culture as well, like him or not.

I do find it funny how people are still losing their temper over him existing in TSW almost a year after the announcement. It’s not like DTG have forced him into your DLC collection and nobody is forcing anyone to buy it.

I don’t see them making anymore Thomas stuff anyway. I think it was done for the 80th anniversary more than anything else.

If they do happen to do more though, I’d happily buy a Skarloey Railway route!

 

To Rotterdam via the HSL South is not possible... On this line is ETCS/EMTRS and thats no supported by the game and is to much work to build. That is already confirmed by Matt that ETCS/EMTRS to much work is and its to complicated.

 

Some people just seem to want to be constantly angry.

 

It’s not so much about Thomas, but rather about the way a commercial company like Matel turns this into a big commercial deal, and how DTG couldn’t resist the bag of money and chose to announce it in this way. It’s fairly well made, but it’s so commercial that many people feel resistance to it. Quite understandable too, since it’s something DTG would probably never have done on their own, regardless of the outcome. It’s a bit like Call of Duty with all those skins pushed by big brands, while players themselves don’t really care about them. Anyway, that’s how I see the story correct me if others feel differently, but I think many would agree with me.

I also think that if DTG had simply announced this in the usual way, most people would have been fine with it especially if you explain that the motivation is wanting to do something for children. But now it seems they only want to do it because there’s a big bag of money sitting in the other room, and that suddenly gives the charitable cause a completely different image

 

Would you say no to a big bag of money?
