I was really exited to see the roadmap, sadly enough no more netherlands... I was really think they would expand the netherlands. Many eople want more netherlands, so what is the reason to don't do it?
Of course the other roadmap routes are very cool too ;)

Just because nothing is on the Roadmap doesn’t mean it isn’t being worked on.

What we don’t know is whether this was a third party project which was adopted or whether built in house. We also have no idea how successful it was commercially. The indications are that it was but does that necessarily light the LAMPOIL under additional Dutch content? Part of the problem is the fact that after a few trips the novelty wore off and it became just another A to B electrified inter urban route, not particularly fast one either despite the straight stretches. Despite being iconic, the ICM was not that great to drive, requiring hardly any throttle to quickly reach 140 km/h, an annoying lack of inertia when coasting and pretty much dead sound wise in the cab.

Couldn't of summed it up better me self. I did get bored with it quick there is no variety even if you had the layers. They add very little to it.

Personally one of my faves, having lived in NL several years - though I'll admit, there's just not the same variety as you get on other routes, perhaps obv due to lack of layers.

Would love to see (v)IRM and/or some routes around the Randstad... but I wonder if we'll ever? A reminder that the profits from some DLC can be marginal... but I give kudos - and thanks - to the developers for giving it a shot.

There's only so much dtg can do by themselves. But just because there isn't one on the roadmap doesn't mean it's abandoned forever so you just have to be patient. The more countries dtg add to their roster, the longer it will take for more to come. They can only make so much at one time

If it sold well, there may be more in the future.

Going by the various new countries making an appearance, I'm going to guess they're testing markets.

Of course, Portugal is an example.
I'm sure 99% of the world's population is interested in Portuguese railways...

I do think they are at least very interested, because SZN is probably one of the best-selling DLCs for in recent years when we look at the Steam review counts.

LGV Med was one of their most played routes for a long time, we’ve not seen anything else from France since.

The NL route also seems to have sold & reviewed well, along with having a great base for more NS stuff, but I think we’d have some sort of indication by now if more was coming.

But we have seen high speed routes. Matt's stated before that it was made because it was a TGV, not because it was French.

Yes & what is you take away from the fact that LGV was the most popular? There were longer, shorter, faster, more varied & all sorts of other variations of High Speed Routes, yet every time DTG have spoke about route popularity, LGV came out on top.

The reason DTG made it doesn’t necessarily translate to why people loved it, but even if it was, the TGV is…French.

Honestly always seem like a odd argument, DTG haven't even really done anything for France to even really gauge that. Also I'd argue pretty everywhere that the high-speed traction is much more popular than anything else, that isn't unique to France. Over here the only train I'd be sure a majority of people actually would know by name is probably the Acela, even for those outside the Northeast. The fact it's in such a populated area, plus much of the countries most important people using and discussing keeps it in public mind easy.

Even stuff that's well known like the Big Boy or Flying Scotsman I feel like you'd need at least a passing interesting in trains to know. And while freight trains are common, but let's be honest, so is concrete, and I can assure you lot of us don't have the slightest crew about that stuff beyond "It exists". Similarly the average person here only cares about the train they hate waiting at the stupid crossing for five minutes every day.

I can say certainly when I was younger much of the foreign equipment I know of was also high speed stuff. I heard of the ICE well before anything else in Germany, I heard of the Shinkansen's way before anything else in Japan, and for that matter the only thing I know of Taiwan's rails is that they use one too. Even as far as the UK goes, the first non-Thomas bits of stock I learned about was their high-speed trains like the 225 & 395, the 800 was also probably the first engine I saw go from concept to actual in-service stock.

Makes sense when you think about it too, that stuff typically is the faces of the networks and countries they operate in. Same reason the Big Boy's so well known (both now and back in the day), it's always been the public ambassador for that company. Such a big reason it gained the reputation it did even though other engines like the PRR S1 & "Jawn Henry" are genuinely larger. And why stuff like the DM&IR Yellowstone & N&W Y6 are much lessor known despite being just as good of designs by all accounts. The ore roads didn't care as much about making flash statements and catchy ad's like UP did.

I really enjoyed LGV, we've had dozens of routes with ICE trains, would love to see another TGV route.

The problem I found with the Netherlands route was the big long straights with nothing to do, although the scenary was brilliant. I very much hope we get another route, but with more stops, and maybe a couple of curves.

Obviously the first NL route was chosen because it is not the most complex one.

This way they could spend time making new buildings, a couple of trains and develop the safety systems. All in a route where having just 2 train models is pretty much accurate and doesnt feel too different to what you see in reality.

Now, with that as a base, they can think about more complex routes that need at least 4 or 5 train models to be remotely similar to reality.

That Netherlands route, the promised Portugese, Czech, Japanese and what other routes aren't made or commisioned by DTG.

Local creators banding together and forming a pop-up studio want to test their skills at developing route and trains choose TSW as their platform and use DTG as their publisher, drawing on its resources and experience.

When a DLC went through all stages of QA and gets released, many parties then take their cuts and only after the first weeks of sales and accompanying rush of euphoria has worn off, those local creators will evaluate their financial return set off against time, money and means invested.

A positive reception, balance in the black and general satisfaction with their efforts might lead to a follow up.

Otherwise, another one-off for the Steam sales bin and your growing collection of abandonware.

Sadly I’m beginning to think the first Dutch route was also the last. Another DTG “high fives and silly headphones” fanfare release that ends up forgotten a few months later. The two trains still need a bit of work on the physics. Both slow down far too quickly after shutting off power while the ICM accelerates like a rocket even on low throttle settings.

True. And, supposing this DLC was financially rewarding, the developers care about their product, should have responded or even updated their trains already, shouldn't they?

The route is definitely worth checking out for fans of Dutch trains and routes, especially as it's the first of its kind.

However, there are reports of bugs, as can be seen in the YouTube videos.
An average score of around 6.5 to 7 out of 10 is cited, which indicates a mediocre result.

However, there are also positive aspects, such as:
It's the first Dutch route, which is a nice addition to Train Sim World.
The route is recognizable and includes the new trains ICMm "Koploper" and the SNG.

I believe these are new features
rather than positive points; it's not even
based on what players and users say
in the reviews of the first Dutch route...
but I would still be very happy if
a next Dutch route were released.

I'm having a hard time to believe we won't see more NS content.

As far as I know, Zwolle-Groningen sold pretty well.
    Reviews were also extremely positive.
And collaboration with NS was extremely good.

And that for a route many of the Dutch community said was a pretty boring stretch of railroad. Imagine what a more interesting stretch of Dutch railroad could do...

Sound to me DTG would be silly not to make another Dutch route.

    Yes,
you can also see that in the PlayStation Store.
It's also very hard for me to believe that that content wouldn't be coming anymore,
and I completely agree with you.
So let the Dutch trains roll along the rails in the
    next route.

The process for a follow up to a route that was testing out a new country is different to the UK or German content which are always on a rolling programme, where the next route is already in production when the current one releases. For the second Dutch route, DTG were waiting until the first one released, seeing how well it did, and probably some market research to follow up, before starting the process for a second if it did well. That means the second will likely be in planning now if it’s happening and will need to be scheduled for production. That takes time. It’s far too soon to be writing it off because there hasn’t been an immediate follow up on the roadmap. There will be more.

I've actually driven both irl and would say that the speed is fine. Usually when departing with an icm I stay in the first S mode untill around 40-50 and only start gearing up to P when reaching 80.

For the speed loss I think the sng loses it slightly too fast, but the icm is quite accurate and sometimes maintains speed better in game then in real life.

Do you even now when the emergency brake is active
    How to reset that?
And how to continue the tour with your ICM?

By the SNG works that different because it is modern my answer is i know both

Do you mean from the ATB, Dodeman, Passengers or accidentally pulling the brake handle too far back?
In general the treinleiding (yellow indicator on the right of the speedometer) will drop to 0.

To reset it you need to do the following
ATB: reverser to neutral, brake handle to remcriterium (or full application in sng), press the red 'ontgrendelen' button, release brakes
Dodeman: just acknowledge it the brakes should release
Passengers: I don't think it is implemented in game but irl you would get an annoying tone in the cab combined with the noodremoverbrugging button lighting up, you would have to find the brake that was pulled and reset it manually.
Accidental emergency brake: just push the handle back to release.

these are true for both the sng and icm and pretty much every other dutch train

Even with Zwolle remaining the core of operations, different routes could be made:

Kampen-Zwolle-Ommen-Emmen, run by BlauNet I believe, using Stadler EMU's, trains already available, new operator license required
Zwolle-Deventer-Zutphen(-Arnhem-Nimeghen), run by NS using stock already available plus some double deck IR, IC which has to be developed and could be used in other routes as well
Zwolle-Amserfoort(-Hilversum/Utrecht), which has the longest non-stop run in the national timetable, stock as in the above
Zwolle-Lelystadt-Almere(-Amsterdam/Schiphol), which should allow 160 KmH or even faster running using the ICNG, a brand new train?

The Easter Egg in Leipzig-Dresden seems to indicate that we will be getting at least one more Dutch route. If not, then I don't really get what it is there for!

Too bad DTG took such long time to get the ICM into TSW, now it is finally there and the ICM is being taken out of service in real life... Perhaps we should push DTG for the ICNG. :D

    I agree,
I would also like it if they added the ICNG
the icm is also older than I am if I'm not mistaken.
And what i mean with new about the ICM is new
for TSW if we talk in release

Well if DTG start now on the DDNG they might have it in TSW before it will be taken out of service in real life :o

It was one of the options in the poll within the annual survey this year for which country ingame other than the main three we'd like to see more of.

Hang on a minute it’s not all just about the Netherlands, surely you are happy that we have completely new countries coming in Japan, Czech Republic and Portugal. I think there are still many nations that don’t have a route at all.

I don’t think DTG will be financing a trip to many of those countries in the near future, or that they have any likelihood of new developers residing there. That's presuming even have a railway!

Even if they recreated every rail network in the world, there'd still be around 25-30 of those countries which would not appear in the game.

The ones which HAVE NO RAIL LINES WHATSOEVER, obviously.

Can't include a country in a train sim if it doesn't have any trains.

But that is what the real thing does. I was watching 20 hours ore more of cab rides where the gauges and handles are visible and got the idea from that and a actual driver. In the end it might be a tad to much at some points but not overpowered. You also need to differ between the chopper controlled ones and the older stuff. In TSW it is the chopper controlled variant (ICMm3).
