Yeah that's fair, of course your local route would be great to have in game. I'd love a London to Peterborough route (or shorter if that's deemed too long)

I might get in trouble with Fawx for saying this, but prior to this I didn’t particularly like the electrostar and the 66 was something I saw as AI rather than something to drive.

That’s no longer the case. The 375 is now really enjoyable to drive with all its bell’s, whistles and sounds and I could happily pootle up and down this line in the 66 all day long. It’s literally the perfect fit for it, allowing to you to see all the scenery you can’t see in the 375 :) SHG’s Cargoline stuff is the perfect stablemate

Well, as I said above, even though it's not my era and not my favorite traction, I'm warming to this route, mainly because I imagine the quality will be very high and now I learn that there is substantial freight content.

I'm not usually sentimental about purchases, but we do know these guys, and I think it would be right to put on our rally hats and give them a bit of a launch party when the time comes.

I work next to the line at new hythe, I hear at least a couple of freight runs going past in a week. We don’t have windows on the trackside of our unit so I don’t know what they’re hauling though lol

I prefer bus stop routes as I like the short stop frequency train journey’s, rather than waiting 10 miles until your next stop.
It also feels more familiar to me since I commute on those route types daily.

Not going to lie I was surprised that you guys went with an Electrostar of all things, that wouldn't have even been a crossing thought for my bingo card! :D

The primary traction doesn't interest me but the route looks interesting and hopefully the feature enhancements (e.g. CCTV) can be replicated on other routes.

    I'd purchase for the freight diagrams...in a sale...maybe.

Was there any discussion about doing this in the slam door EMU era?

The thing about electrostars is not so much the toy train itself, but the tunnel vision of the driver.

How you can drive safely with that tiny aperture is beyond me. Nothing in other countries' railways compares. Surprised that drivers are willing to get in the cab.
    No fun for us either.

First off it’s a valid thing because the route will probably be £25 to £30 for only 26 miles and only subs

and second ,she, and well you one to talk

Being a big Southern Region fan, I'm looking forward to this. Nice little route, the devs have done wonders with the mods so expect the route (and screenshots seem to say it will) to be super detailed. The little extras on the 375 with the GSMR and CCTV are really welcome.

Not sure if it can be (or has been) answered, will the couple of 395 peak services from Maidstone be present?

I can honestly say I feel the same way about the 66 but with aggregate loading I will dust it off and use it for sure.

That is indeed a very good point. And in fact, going one step further, although the CEP's were fitted with the motored cars on the outer end, the 4 VEP's (also the CIG's) had just one motored vehicle which was not an end coach, so you wouldn't have heard much if any traction thrash in the driving cab either. So while I definitely want to see the classic DC EMU's (and DEMU's) in TSW it is quite true you will still be looking out through a small window with in some cases only the rail sounds for your aural pleasures.

*Will only be £25 - £30 if you buy it... There is no obligation for you to purchase it if you are genuinely that unhappy with it. It costs £0, and 0p if you decide it's not for you.

Doesn’t mean I can’t criticise it, we have too many routes in game which don’t include new stock or liveries

You're right. Something like a 423 would have a similar aperture.

But somehow they were more engaging. Maybe it was the sound.

What I like about this route is the sheer variety of stock on offer and you even have the rare situation of one companies stock carrying two completely different liveries as in the SE 375 and 465, don’t see that very often. Pity Scotrail don’t adopt it lol.

All scotrail stock is the saltire to this day so not any other livery that can be used.

It’s a shame so many of these topics descend into arguments and bitterness and spoil it for the many that enjoy this game.

I don’t like marmite but don’t clog up their forums, if they have them, moaning. I just move on and find something that is for me. Life’s too short to spend time on forums moaning.

Re this route, knowing the pedigree of the people involved, and being pleased the electrostar is getting much needed sound upgrades, I will be buying this as soon as it’s out. screenshots look fantastic and wish all involved the best of luck with it.

So what would you like them to do. Make a fictional train up just to bundle it with to keep you happy…. You will then moan it’s unrealistic.

I dont tend too spend 100s of *insert currency here* for marmite..

I have spent 100s of currency on DTG published products.. that are often broken on day 1... poorly fixed after 3 months.. then thrown in the bin never to be updated again!!
If marmite send out a 'broken' batch of marmite.. guess what... they send out a recall and reimburse everyone!!

People are entitled to there opinion based on years of failures by DTG..
Any 3rd party that produces anything For DTG are just as 'guilty' by association..

    Take example these devs..
Quick to complain people are pointing out valid issues that are indeed DTG issues that "arnt our problem.."
Acknowledge they are DTG issues to fix..
But are quite happy to be published by.. DTG
Even with years of experience on how DTG treat there releases..

    Good luck to them..
Honestly the past 3 months since 6 dropped have made me do a complete 180 turn..
The ONLY reason I dont uninstall the pile of dogshite.. I have far to much invested in it to throw it away...

And I feel DTG know this.. hence the 0 change..

On the plus side my wallet is much better off recently..
Msfs is here (the whole f'in world is the map! But it works!!)
    Truck sim coming at somepoint..
Glad ive finally woke up and said No more to these cowboys (dtg)

    - All based off current gen console experience, The PC guys are playing a different game at this point!

    I won’t be buying.

as a southern railway person it’s going to be too easy to find all the faults and that’s before the crashing and blurry textures.

the most obvious bit to have done with the GSMR would have been ‘wait’ when pressing SG.

The 375/377 cab view is awful and really what would have made more sense is a class 466. Add in an up to date Class 31 and some test train carriages maybe? Or reskin one of the 153s and make it current.

I love the Medway line, but these days you have the odd 66, 375s and the occasional 395. This needed more.

In real life Class 466s are being withdrawn fairly rapidly and are quite uncommon now. They don't even operate on there own since restrictions around disability access come into place in 2020.

Outside of that your welcome to your opinion, I'm not criticising that. But having a 466 just wouldn't make sense given the above.

is the route set in the modern day then? Too difficult to set it 5-6 years ago when there was more traffic and a more interesting timetable?

DTG love a reskin, this would have been very easy.

Day 1 here...As someone who doesn't live in the UK I have no care for the old stuff from the 90s back (even things pre-2015 are a stretch, I'm only getting JTs WCML over shap now because of the new 2019 TT), so thank you for someone finally making something with a 2025 tag! All scenery DLCs should be in the modern era!
Please load up as much as possible on the TT as you can, leave no stone unturned as someone who is on PC and a good one at that with 32g ram and 12gb GPU O/C (because all PC users are apparently swimming in money!) TSW runs nice and smooth with no blurry textures at all and tolerable FPS that doesn't ruin any of my gameplay!
Having all your fantastic PC mods for TSW installed (especially those TTs with variable rolling stock used, special liveries and 1000+ services) I know this will be a winner!

Exactly this seems we can only scream praise here for the developers. I hope they can pull this off however if it does indeed suffer the same issues as other routes because if a core issue I hope the developers will realise and accept people won’t be happy

funny you say that when holiday express has been one of my favourite routes in the game.

and well some other TSC routes which are not overly realistic, anyone else would probably agree with you but I’m not that type to give two beeps about realistic stuff

but holiday epxress has got nothing to do with this developer nor this route.

You complained there was no new stock coming with this route. So i said "so would you like them to make a fictional train and bundle it with the route............. you would then complain about it being unrealistic" So what has the holiday express got to do with your original point and the point of this developer's route............... NOTHING

Baka did you forget that holiday express is the most fictional route in game basically meaning I would be fine with a fictional train since it would actually add up to the value of the route, like Cathcart is 20 miles but comes with an actual new train

Any steam railtours between Tonbridge and Maidstone? They did used to occur, albeit in the early 2000s.

I just want to add my voice to the praise on here to counter some of the ridiculous “speculative negativity”.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but being negative because of something that hasn’t happened yet/ been released yet is a new low.

I’m excited for this purely because of who is involved and so far all the information provided says to me that this is going to be up to the standard we are expecting from this crew.

To firefly, this is clearly a labour of love, keep doing what you do and it will be a huge success. Don’t take unfounded criticism to heart, I know you are going to do this properly from your previous work and that deserves to be supported, not picked apart.

Good luck.and stay strong through the inevitable humps in the road.

Cathcart came with the 314 because shock horror the 314 ran on that network in scotrail when they were in service. The 380 train gave you the updated cathcart if you owned the route because again shock horror the 380s run on that network to this day, Guess what just the same as the 66, 375 465 run on this route TO THIS DAY. See the pattern here

And what other choice do they have? Whether players agree or disagree with DTGs practices, all releases will HAVE to go through DTG, the publisher.
They can't release the route without the publisher, otherwise, well...it won't release.

Developers can't just do that, it's not an optional thing.
