Welcome back to Dovetail Games’ Season of Reveals 2025! A month-long event to end off the year with a celebration - featuring all new updates and reveals from our teams, and our wonderful third-party development partners for Train Sim World!

We're on our final week of the event, with even more reveals coming up in this article, featuring the longest end-to-end UK route, an all-new Just Trains route, and OUR FIRST EVER GERMAN STEAM LOCOMOTIVE!

Read about it on our Season of Reveals - Week 3 Article

Don't forget we have more events to conclude the week before our holiday shutdown, with another of our popular Dovetail Discord Q&A sessions on Tuesday at 3pm UTC, a final community screenshot competitions on Wednesday rewarding keys and new roles, a TSW Roadmap livestream on Thursday, and a final weekly giveaway on Friday where you can enter for free to earn TSW add-on keys!
For those who don't fancy catching up on the past articles however, we've created a special December 2025 TSW Roadmap asset that includes all of our new reveals in a single space, making it easier to see everything coming up in the new year!

Whilst that concludes the end of our reveals for 2025, we still have a few final events running throughout the week before the holidays begin, and one final special surprise in store next Monday (It's not another reveal, but something we hope TSW players can make the most of!).

We hope you enjoyed our announcements and festivities this year - We've having such a blast celebrating with all of you across our communities!

Announcing: Neckartalbahn: Heidelberg - Neckarelz from TSG
    [IMG]

We couldn't be more excited to talk about this next German route reveal coming from our partners at TSG, because for the first time since the release of TSW4, this route will be bringing a brand-new Steam locomotive into TSW6 - the BR 23!

TSG: "The Neckartalbahn is a scenic, double-track, fully electrified mainline that winds through the picturesque Neckar valley in southwestern Germany"

"Known for its smooth curves, tunneled sections, and striking riverside views, the line blends efficient rail traffic with one of Germany’s most beautiful natural landscapes."

This route features 53km of track from Heidelberg to Neckarelz, decorated with 15 stations for you to explore, setting the year back to 1974.

Whether you're a fan of steam locomotion, or looking for a electric traction - the Neckartalbahn has you covered, supporting mutliple ways to experience traffic as you journey across the line.

What does this mean for steam simulation improvements?
Alongside the work for this add-on, the TSG team have been working on a series of improvements to the steam simulation physics to support the release, and are actively developing these for Neckartalbahn. These updates should also act as a generalised core improvement to steam physics that can support potential future steam content that our teams or third party developers may wish to create. Any existing steam content won't be impacted by these changes, however, we'll listen closely to your feedback as the work continues and keep you informed on progress.

We don’t have any details to share about what these improvements to the steam physics will entail whilst the team continue development, but we will confirm them in roadmap articles when we learn more.

Now - Let's head back to the UK for our two remaining new announcements!

Announcing: West Coast Main Line: Trent Valley from All Aboard Studios
    [IMG]

First up, let's hear from our friends at All Aboard Studios with an all-new UK route that seeks to further build upon the ever-growing West Coast Main Line in Train Sim World - Get ready for WCML: Trent Valley!

Bridging the track between Crewe and Milton Keynes, this route links the end-points of other major WCML routes in TSW, with Crewe as a shared station from Just Trains' upcoming WCML: Crewe - Preston, and Milton Keynes as a shared end-point from TSW5's core UK line WCML South.

Connecting these stations has been no small task, and this Add-on will bring the longest end-to-end UK route into Train Sim World 6, with a massive 108 miles to discover!

AABS: "Master modern traction with the Class 350/4 and cutting-edge Class 807, and experience a packed timetable of high-speed intercity, regional stoppers and heavy freight!"

Please note: Screenshots shown contain layered trains from other routes and do not show the Class 807 included with the Add-on as it continues development.

Announcing: Cumbrian Coast: Carlisle - Whitehaven from Just Trains
    [IMG]

Rounding off the new announcements for Season of Reveals 2025, the JT team are here to announce their latest expansion to their growing WCML network - with Cumbrian Coast: Carlisle-Whitehaven!

The development of the route is still underway, and today we have a couple of WIP grey-scale renders of the new Class 108 DMU included in the release the team were keen to share. We'll aim to keep you updated with new images in the months to come, but for today please enjoy these first glimpses and details from the JT team.

Just Trains: "Experience coastal running between Workington and Whitehaven, with 40 miles of rural scenery and sprawling industrial landscapes to explore!"

"We are also working on new wagons to include in the release, with freight and shunting operations planned across the route."
Be sure to also check out the Just Trains In-Development blog page for frequent updates from their team on content, including historic facts and production insights which you may find interesting!

And with the two UK announcements today from both All Aboard Studios and Just Trains, setting aside differences in eras, this means that Train Sim World will soon have a completed series of routes that take you all the way from the heart of London at the iconic Euston station, right through to Carlisle near the Anglo-Scottish border, with branches and networks to explore along the way! What a journey!

And finally for today, we're exicted to show you all a closer look at the development for our first ever Portugese route coming to TSW from the VirtuaVia360 team!

As a recap, hear more from the team on their October development details:
Virtuavia360: "We’re a Portuguese company that has game developers and train enthusiasts, bringing the first ever Portuguese routes to Train Sim World. We are really excited to join the 3rd Party Program at Dovetail, to bring our vision and work to Train Sim World"

This add-on is recreated with outstanding detail of the commuter rail experience across 14 stations, featuring the 3500 Series EMU and a true-to-life timetable."

Train Sim World In the News! View the Great British Railways Livery
Did you catch Train Sim World being featured across UK news outlets last week?

As part of the new changes coming to British railways, our teams have helped the Department for Transport to visualise the new Great British Railways Livery coming to railways across the UK within Train Sim World 6.

Our teams were also honoured to help preview this new livery design in-person alongside Hornby at London Bridge station to celebrate the brand unveiling. Visuals were also shown at other railway stations across the UK.
If you fancy taking a look at the new livery yourself, check out our showcase below.

Please note this is just a visualisation of the real-world livery design, used to preview the announcement to the public on December 9th 2025, and not currently an available add-on within Train Sim World 6. Our teams are investigating any opportunities we have to bring this into TSW6, and we'll share any news if we can confirm it.

Winter 2025 Player Survey - Now Closed
Thank you for everyone who submitted feedback and thoughts for our Winter 2025 TSW survey, these will massively support our teams guide and direct the future of Train Sim World in a way that suits all of you.

Everything asked in our survey above was designed to gauge how our players feel about new content, and about our games as a whole - but please remember that the inclusion of content/features in the survey is not confirmation that we are developing these, or if it'll happen in the future - this is why we're asking you first how you feel about it.

We've now contacted the 20 lucky entrants who have won a TSW Add-on of their choice from completing the survey, and we thank you all for supporting us another year, and helping our teams build the best future for Train Sim World.

    TSW December 2025 Roadmap Livestream
As we close off for the year, Exec Producer of Trains, Matt, and Senior Community Manager, Alex, will also be live this Thursday, December 18th 2025, to discuss the entirety of the Season of Reveals announcements in full, and answer your questions live!

Send us your questions in advance on our December 2025 Roadmap Q&A thread, and we’ll answer as many as we can!
The stream will begin from 19:00 UTC on our YouTube and Twitch channels, and we can’t wait to see you there!

    So... What's Next Week?
Whilst the Season of Reveals is drawing to a close, we do have a quick update on the GWE Remaster before we finish for the year.
Next week, we'll be sharing some first gameplay as a final festive treat for you. We're very excited to be bringing you this early in 2026!

A smaller, final article will be shared on Monday, December 22nd 2025, a little later in the evening than usual, as our final update for the year.

    Pretty good stuff all around!

Certainly gonna give TSG's steam implementation a shot- really hoping they've gotten it to a good state. Any ideas what the electric traction on the route might be?

WCML Trent Valley and Cumbrian Coast really fill out that network (across two very different eras). Class 108 DMU is exciting!

Unironically, i hope improvements to route hopping are a priority for TSW7. I'd love to be able to continue a drive across linked services without leaving the drivers seat.

I realize it wouldn't be possible in every case, but being able to drive from Euston-Crewe-Birmingham or Blackpool to Preston to the Cumbrian Coast with only a small loading screen would be pretty magical imo.

Wild that we went into TSW5 with zero of the routes in that WCML map (apart from SOS, Blackpool and Cross-City, which aren't 'WCML', really) and now we're on track to have the entire mainline from London to the border with the only break being Rugby - Birmingham. Fair play.

    Only one step left...

Steam is BACK! I'm so happy! :) Can't wait to get more details on what work is being done under the hood for the simulation!

Not just that, we're getting a new first gen DMU with the 108. What a way to finish this year's season of reveals :D

GWE Remaster which is for early 2026, I can't wait
    :D

This is an equivalent exchange; DTG and AABS were forced to sacrifice something to break JT's curse with Preston.

Assuming the new WCML addition isn't a broken hot mess on launch like Birmingham-Crewe (I frankly do not trust DTG and AABS at the moment), I hope there can be some mechanism to continue runs from, say, Euston to Birmingham, without having to go through the main menu.

I'm not in steam trains anyways but as it is a new route from TSG I'll take it sooner or later. Interested in more details for example what electric rolling stock we will see. ❤️

Can’t wait for a complete WCML from Euston to Carlisle.
As others have said I hope we can get route hopping sorted out so we can stay in the cab while we continue driving.

There's only one type of train I absolutely can't stand.
    Steam locomotives.
I was hoping for something completely different.

Looks to be an exciting end to the reveals. A new first generation DMU and a steam locomotive, wasn't expecting that.

WCML is getting boring now. ECML hasn't got this much attention. After this WCML probably need a break to give ECML, southwestern main line, Chiltern Mainline or something a chance. People moaned at 4 southern routes. Now there's 4 WCML routes and 5th if you include the branch off coming from Just Trains and 6th on Blackpool - Preston.

Seasons of reveals was so underwhelming for me personally last year but this year it's absolutely been smashed out of the park. My local line the Medway Valley and new steam traction on the way. The other routes on the roadmap all look amazing too. 2026 is going to be expensive!

I'll be really pushing our team if we can get that route-hopping dream into a reality for these add-ons, even if it means a small update to all of them. Would be a great experience for UK enjoyers to have that full connected run.

The JT route to the Cumbrian Coast is the standout here for me. Something far from London ( in UK terms ) and a new 1st generation DMU. ( almost makes up for the Class 104 apparition ). ( Day 1)

The return of steam is welcome ( you knew it would be 3P rather than DTG ) but I wish I didn't have to buy a non- steam route to experience it. Why isn't it an historic steam route? ( Pass )

And I need another WCML stretch of modern emu traction like I need a hole in the head. ( Pass. )

As good as the new JT route will be - certainly going by their past efforts - I wont be investing another penny in TSW until the numerous issues with the core game are fixed.

Just remember that whilst these are exciting AAS have had a bumpy first release with still lots of bugs, also this is DTG, who, historically prefer to fail to deliver and generate revenue by delivering to fail. Don’t believe the hype and glossy promotion. I for one reserve judgement on all none JT content.

I'm expecting something we already have, a BR 110, BR 111, or BR 140. TSG will be extremely busy with the Steam Engine, so I assume some recycling will be involved.

They could churn out a 110.1 by modifying the new 140 a bit, they're 98% identical. Also don't forget the 218 and the 363 which will have to be backdated into a 261 and have the original controls put in the cab. The Umbauwagen will get a good run there, as well as old Silberlinge.
Also there might be room for a little 2-axled diesel addition that Lukas is rather fond of. Who knows.

I would hardly call the Cumbrian coast line part of the WCML.

I do agree that it would be good for a move away from the WCML for a bit.

Presumably there will still be a new DTG/Rivet UK route over the next few months.

Some excellent stuff there and a far better final set of reveals than last years TTTE.

    German steam - Day One.

    Trent Valey - Day One.

Cumbrian Coast - Day One. Though it would have been nice to see the route extend through the scenic single track section to Sellafield, feels kind of short changed. Class 108 very welcome though and will hopefully layer on to BPO and Shap instead of the 101.

Carlisle to Workington was an interesting choice, certainly not my 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice but will no doubt be excellent. Given it's again set in the 80s there should be quite a lot of traffic for the Steelworks and whatnot to keep us entertained. The 108 is already looking great in those renders and will slot nicely in on other routes, hopefully Wigan - Manchester hint hint ;)

I am glad to see that AAS are going ahead and connecting Crewe to Milton Keynes, it needed doing and in my opinion they did a good job with Crewe - Birmingham (especially for a 1st effort). While I have zero interest in the 807 and very little interest in the 390 either for that matter, it should be a fun run for freight :)

While I'm not really interested in routes from overseas (I do try to like the US non-MTA routes) it is great to see that big-ass German steam locomotive and could tempt me into having a go. It's certainly a great thing to see something Steamy (not that Thomas shite) come back to TSW and hopefully will encourage others to develop more locos - Black Five anyone? Heck, it might bring back Peak Forest back from the dead ;)

That said, I was disappointed to not have any new development updates on the Preston - Crewe route, especially since it's about 3 months overdue already :/ But also that looking at the graphic with the map showing WCML coverage it seems to suggest that the Preston - Crewe will not be having a branch to Liverpool - either from Wigan nor from Weaver Jn :(

Many people will be happy with the rolling stock of the Neckartalbahn, even if they don't like steam.
Look at what's behind the tender:
UIC x-coaches. Not modernised Flixtrain ones, but original m-Wagen. This route seems to open soo many opportunities, I'm really excited.

Also I am curious if, like with the E94 pack, a portion of the sales will go to a railway museum or society again. Surely there had to be a cooperation with some entity that owns a working condition BR 23 for recordings and such.

Some excellent items announced today. Quite incredible that the entire WCML from London Euston to Carlisle will soon be able to be driven in TSW. Looking forward to more high speed driving in the Pendolino. :)

Wow, I called it! I opined some months ago that if anyone was going to get steam unstuck it would be TSG, because reasons.

Full-on Bundesbahn! And in the old colors, even before blue/ivory. I expect we will get the 140 in green layering in (TSG are diligent in supplying period liveries), and Silberlinge with black frames and markings. 110 in blue, even? 261 (363) shunter in altrot? It's probably too big an ask to have the 294 backdated to a 290, but TSG did already "re-engine" a shunter with the 363 > 265)

Oh, and the return of the Umbauwagen too.

Absolutely thrilled with these! A reprieve for steam is so welcome! I know I put it into the other thread about dlc but I didn't imagine we'd actually get steam back!

Really love the look of the 108 as well!

It seems odd not to include the Northampton loop on the MK to Crewe line, as that's the route almost all freight and many 350s will take.

Maybe you can use that level of persuasion to get the team to fix the outstanding core bugs. If random faults and tsrs are anything to go by, this facility will surface in TSW25

The extra mileage for that was maybe pushing it well into ‘too much work’ territory. It’s already a huge make.

Also, I thought there were 3 UK announcements due today if I’m not mistaken?

I wonder if they could make it possible to continue from Miltoon Keynes onto WCMLS without having to exit the train and use route hopping. (Provided it was based on the same timetable) Only a small suggestion. Route sounds really good!

I would put good money on all three routes announced today not releasing before TSW7.

Three excellent routes announced today. Very lucky to have the entire WCML from London Euston to Carlisle, Although l would have liked the Northampton and Birmingham loops to be included.

More high speed driving in the Pendolino is exciting and also looking forward to the Cumbria route, Carlisle to Whitehaven and the new German route with a steam engine included.

Steam locos are back! The new BR 23 is an awesome addition to TSW. Now with new physics and updates, we could get other German steam (44, 50, 52, etc.) and even some US steam: Big Boy, Challenger, FEF3, #611, #3751, etc.) in the future. Also, British steam: Mallard (and other LNER A4s), Castles, Black 5s, Hall-Class, Tornado, etc.) Of course, I'm excited for the BNSF/ATSF GP60Ms/Bs too. We still need a GP60 Spartan Cab.
